Welcome to the Bundesliga Team of The Season (ToTS)

It’s been a few weeks since we’ve last spoken, I hope Team of the Season has been treating you well? We’re in the middle of May and by now, we’ve seen Community, Premier League, Bundesliga and La Liga enter ToTS. As I mentioned on last blog post, this is such an exciting period of change for our teams because of the number of new cards that flood the game, meaning your squad will just not look the same. It impacts the power-curve drastically, meaning those squads, just got a whole lot juicier!

Upgrade SBCs

Every week with new TOTS squads being released per league, we get a new upgrade SBC usually 81x11 and 8 league player upgrade pack. My method has been focusing on the 81x11, as that seems to guarantee a ‘blue’ every time. The requirements are not bad, 82/85 squads which are very achievable with a duplicate TOTS card that you might have from the previous content or pack opening. They’re helping recycle cards back into the SBC world, meaning my club is neither dry nor plentiful of SBC ‘Fodder’ cards.

My top tip – to focus on the 81x11 daily SBC, so stock up on a few 85s, 86s in the pre-content build up at a lower price, then watch them spike higher during the SBC drop.

The Store

You may not visit the store very often or be a very frequent user and buy the packs on offer with either coins or Fifa Points. Though I’ve seen EA dropping 500k, 400k packs most days to draw players in with lucrative player odds. It still doesn’t tempt me, but we’re seeing the biggest and highest pack odds for packing ToTS cards. If you don’t play FUT Champions and don’t want to grind the squad battles, this looks an appealing route for a blue.

FUT Champions Reflections

I’ve continued to plug away at ‘Champs’ and have seen a consistent level of results and wins across 4 weekends since ToTS started. Community and Bundesliga I got 16, La Liga 14 and Premier League 13. I can say, my best reds came after LaLiga with an incredible red pull of ToTS Pedri and Llorente – huge Ws.

Reflections from gameplay is that it often gets better as the weekend progresses, Sunday seems to be the most progressive and smooth (without delay) gameplay. If you can get some games done here, it can really help your results. I’ve learned that this isn’t always the case and being able to play in delay is certainly a skill. Not something I can claim to have mastered, but sticking to gameplay principles is key.

Build up slow.

Being careful in your build up is key. A good thing that I’ve incorporated is using the LB (L1 on PS) to support players have a smooth touch. Being mindful of sprint touches is a good way to think as well. Do you really need to sprint out of this space? Often, you’ll turn the ball over in the middle third of the pitch because of doing those two things. So slow it down and breathe.

If you can, record your gameplay.

I managed to record every game personally across this weekend. By watching the first 2 games I learned I wasn’t triggering runs between passes, and it restricted my chance creation. So, by taking the time to record and understand my patterns, the opponent and where I can improve really helps you understand.

Take your time

With ‘Champs’ being extended by 48 hours, it gives you a lot of extra time to finish those 20 games. If you usually end up cramming the full 20 in one go, you don’t have to. A good tip is to split 4/5 games up in one sitting. You’ll be surprised how much concentration you need for a game of Fifa, so not forcing yourself to cram game after game in, will instantly improve your results.

That’s all for this week, until next time folks.

Kyle.
