[00:00:54] today's show by my main man Shack Attack and the scout Nathan Downs. Loads to get into as

[00:00:59] always we're going to be going through, it's a bit of a group therapy session. The first

[00:01:03] weekend league of TOTS is just about over, probably pretty much over by the time you're

[00:01:08] going to be listening to this so we're going to be going through the ups and a lot of downs

[00:01:12] for all of us including the players we faced more often than not. I'll give you a clue,

[00:01:16] his name is Didier Drogba and we're going to be getting into lots of other stuff. We have had a

[00:01:22] new patch out that's fixed one thing and maybe broken a couple of others. We've got the mail

[00:01:27] bag back as well and we're also going to be talking through whether EA have actually made

[00:01:31] the menus too good compared to actually playing the game in terms of earning rewards

[00:01:38] and the cards you really like. So loads to get into lads but first of all before we get

[00:01:41] into it, Shack my friend how are you? Oh doing well thanks. It's great to be on the pod,

[00:01:46] it's been a while since I actually caught up with you guys and it's been a long time

[00:01:50] since I've been on the pod so yeah really looking forward to kicking the ball around.

[00:01:55] Great to have you back Nathan, you alright? I'm very well thank you. I'm happy to be

[00:01:59] back as a trio. Not that I've not enjoyed the time just with you Dan but it's cool

[00:02:03] to have Shack about. Slightly deflated about the game just now, not because of the game

[00:02:09] itself just because I am going through a very very poor run of form. Yeah I tried to say are

[00:02:15] you well and alright at the same time it just came out as a random illness there so you know

[00:02:19] that goes and I think that basically is a great segue into weekend league because that's how my

[00:02:23] weekend league felt lads, it was a real mix of things all put together and I couldn't figure

[00:02:28] out what was actually going on. I started this weekend league in probably the worst fashion I

[00:02:34] have all game cycle. I went four and six to start then went had and just getting the worst

[00:02:41] luck possible just getting loads of bounce backs going against me. I had someone score a goal

[00:02:46] after the allotted injury time had gone past and they started the move in their own half.

[00:02:51] Anything that could go wrong I felt was going wrong and then so I got to four and six and

[00:02:55] thought this is going to be terrible. Then got gifted three wins in a row out absolutely

[00:03:01] nowhere. I was just like to be fair I got gifted two and then the other one we played

[00:03:07] about 20 minutes and then he decided I don't want to play this guy gave me the win as well.

[00:03:12] Got me back on track and then I won like three out of my next four and I ended up 11 and seven

[00:03:18] quite comfortable in the end and I just sit there and we talked about this Nathan didn't

[00:03:23] we? We were like is weekend league going to be easier because more people are going to come

[00:03:26] back to the game? There is going to be harder because everybody's going to be trying hard.

[00:03:31] I think you were of the opinion it was going to be harder Nathan and I'm going to give it to you

[00:03:34] because this was hard. This was nails. Yeah I wasn't impressed this weekend. I struggled

[00:03:41] to my 11 which for me was to struggle today is I'm not saying I'm a great player but I don't

[00:03:47] usually struggle to that. I usually struggle when I hit 13 but it was a slog fest. I

[00:03:51] think I was pretty much going one win one loss at the moment. I think I ended up just

[00:03:54] on my 11. The red wasn't really anything to write home about but I didn't get gifted at any wins.

[00:04:03] Didn't get many ragequits. It was all you know everything was a battle. I'd lose the odd

[00:04:08] like absolute maniac that could do everything. You'd also lose against players that I'm sitting

[00:04:14] playing going I shouldn't be losing this game. I was playing better but like you said the

[00:04:19] bounce backs were out in force. The pirating of the Red Sea which I spoke about last week

[00:04:23] that was out as well. It was just it was crazy and there was things that my players

[00:04:27] weren't doing last week that they were doing today. Well this week this weekend league and

[00:04:32] stuff that I thought they would do that they just didn't seem to be able to do.

[00:04:36] I know it'll be a skill issue but it was it was quite demoralizing to be honest.

[00:04:40] I've got two questions put to you that I'll also put to Shaq in just a minute because

[00:04:44] I played the majority of my games on Saturday and Sunday and I felt even though I had no real need

[00:04:53] to I felt more pressure because it was a tuts weekend because there was something bigger on

[00:04:57] the line and I'm wondering whether that whole mentality played into it. Now I do think the

[00:05:02] quality of opponents I played was superior to a normal week in league like the games I was

[00:05:06] losing I wasn't losing to players I would normally be they were difficult players but

[00:05:11] Nath when did you play your games and mentally were you feeling sort of under any more pressure

[00:05:17] and kind of any more anxiety playing these games? Yeah I mean I'm a daytime player anyway so

[00:05:22] I usually hired a player through that because it's degenerates like myself but yeah there was

[00:05:29] definitely that added element. I mean I'm not opening packs but I wanted a couple of rewards

[00:05:33] for this team before I open at Premier League so it does add extra and I'm sure a lot of

[00:05:38] it when I look back a lot of it is that I was you know holding sprint too much I was

[00:05:42] kind of trying to force the issue a little bit more and be a little bit more aggressive

[00:05:46] in the tackle as well which clearly left a lot of space for the opponents to move into so

[00:05:52] I think I'm saying it is a lot harder players and to be fair the players like you say

[00:05:57] would definitely better overall but the pressure I think definitely I crumbled like a chocolate

[00:06:03] hub knob dipped into a cup of coffee I think so yeah it wasn't ideal. Shaq you play generally

[00:06:09] in a region where there are just because there are fewer players in that kind of oceanic region

[00:06:12] you're playing a lot of tougher players I mean how was this experience compared to most of

[00:06:15] the year for you? I think for me I think psychologically I was false it was a false sense

[00:06:21] of security listening to you guys talk last week because I started to believe what you said

[00:06:25] Dan thinking oh yeah I'm sorry I'm sorry and I really went in thinking should be easier

[00:06:31] should be okay to get 11 wins I went 1-1 2-2 3-3 4-4 and now I'm at 6-4 and I just told myself

[00:06:37] yesterday enough is enough I just need to take a bloody break from this game because it was

[00:06:41] it's horrendous every game is extremely hard now as I was telling you there's

[00:06:46] every opponent I face in my region I'm either facing a Pele, Ronaldo,

[00:06:49] Drogba of course is there in every team Pele, Ronaldo and Cruyff these three cards kept

[00:06:55] appearing in every opposition team and it's just it's really hard to get past those guys

[00:06:59] I mean you do everything right and from kickoff I don't know how from Cruyff and

[00:07:05] R9 they just I don't know how I've lost so many goals in kickoff straight after that it

[00:07:11] just shows that these guys they know exactly what they're doing they don't really care and

[00:07:15] they just come back and win and you have to slog again and try and get the goal back and

[00:07:19] it's been it's been a hard grind this this particular weekend so I thought I'll wait till

[00:07:22] the end and hopefully I'll have some idiots like me left over to play so yeah it should

[00:07:27] be hopefully I can reach 11 and yeah I think 11 would be I'll be happy with 11 this weekend

[00:07:33] honestly it's just been a really hard weekend for me yeah I was going through an absolute

[00:07:37] spell of conceding kickoff goals and I just need to I know if I need to just bring these

[00:07:42] guys down just literally give away an easy foul take a booking because the and nothing I

[00:07:47] think tilts you more than conceding that that kickoff goal because you've worked generally

[00:07:52] so hard for your goal and to give it away in seconds and that just kind of feeds into

[00:07:56] that negative mentality and we all know and you know John's talked about it you know

[00:08:00] Nathan you talk about when you're doing your coaching sessions that can spiral so quickly

[00:08:04] and lead you to rushing leads to doing bad habits and stuff but you mentioned his name

[00:08:09] Shaq I talked about at the top of the show have you two guys seen the episode of the

[00:08:12] simpsons where Homer buys the monkey paw and you know every wish comes with a consequence

[00:08:19] yes now I love dda drogba since the revolution soccer days I have loved dda drogba and ever

[00:08:25] since getting back into this game and finding out he's an icon I've been great I love drogba

[00:08:30] let's play drogba let's face it he's been trash every game the man has been trash

[00:08:36] finally I get what I've always wanted a dda drogba card that is not just usable but is

[00:08:42] meta the downside of it the monkey paw thing here is that everyone else is using him and

[00:08:47] they're using him against me the man is unstoppable at times and we talk about bounce

[00:08:53] backs this guy's the absolute king of them and Shaq I feel like a bit of an idiot because I

[00:08:58] put him on my bench this weekend league mostly for again humble brag winter wild cards Pele

[00:09:04] and Werner and now I'm just thinking I just needed to go with the drogba what is it about

[00:09:09] this card that is ruining lives I have no idea he's got some really good stats and as

[00:09:14] you say he just bounces back from every single tackle and once he gets going I

[00:09:20] don't think I've ever stopped a drogba once he's in full flight it's so hard to stop the guy and

[00:09:25] he finishes everything once he's in the box and he's got no one around him I haven't seen him

[00:09:30] miss oh well Nate's shaking his head so he's probably missed a few on the weekend with

[00:09:35] for me again I must preface this by saying for me I struggle to start with drogba he's

[00:09:41] an amazing superstar for me he comes on and he just scores every time I'm breaking him out

[00:09:45] when I need a goal he scores some amazing goals in fact the reason I'm six and four

[00:09:48] right now is because drogba's come and rescued me in a couple of games but for my opposition

[00:09:53] every time I face the drogba he's at least scored one game every time I faced him at least yeah

[00:09:59] he's an absolute thorn in anybody's side I said I'm thinking about restoring into my line

[00:10:03] I've got some chem issues I need to work out but I mean Nate look this card's gone from

[00:10:07] 368 000 coins a couple of weeks ago all the way up to I think he's now we have 645 000 coins

[00:10:15] this guy is the it player right now yeah he is a monster I mean I was shaking my head when Shaq

[00:10:21] was talking because I had I felt like he was slightly off for me I think I must have you

[00:10:25] know annoyed him with my team talk or so I've done odd he might have changed with the reserves

[00:10:30] or something through the week but he was he was missing the odd sort of one-on-ones for me

[00:10:33] and stuff that doesn't normally happen usually I always describe him as an auto shoot but this

[00:10:38] weekend I did struggle a little bit but he's so well rounded like he's an all-around player

[00:10:43] you can play with this with him on the deck like he's not he's not slouch he's not you know

[00:10:47] he's not Mbappe's type speed but he's definitely not a slouch you can play with his back to goal

[00:10:51] so he can hold up if you can shield the ball and lay others in and obviously you

[00:10:55] can do the cross and you know I like putting it from Beckham onto onto Drogba's head or even

[00:10:59] with the corners and stuff so he has a bit of everything and to be fair like the prices

[00:11:04] are very weird just now I think the crease is Drogba so that his price is absolutely shut

[00:11:09] quite rightly so because he is outstanding but the pack it's weird when the pack weight when

[00:11:13] he was in packs must have been very low because everybody has him and the majority of people are

[00:11:17] rocking these first on the team so he must have been one of the the best cards that

[00:11:21] EA were quite happy to dish out which is which is weird because he is so OP but fair

[00:11:27] play to them for doing that because that's what we want we want to play with these cards that

[00:11:30] are you know they they are better you don't want to just pack fodder and players that

[00:11:35] will just never see the light of day so that's quite good but at the same time like you say

[00:11:38] coming up against them is an absolute handful and trying to figure out a centre-back partnership

[00:11:42] that could could potentially deal with that plus the nepia players or the vernas that just

[00:11:47] still have that sort of glitch mentality as well it's it's crazy it gives you a few headaches

[00:11:51] in your squad building yeah we talk about the weekend league oh sorry go on Shaq no I think

[00:11:56] my player in review is probably the only one that can actually stop a Drogba and I've

[00:12:00] actually done that so we'll get there when we get when we get there there you go that's

[00:12:04] a good reason to keep listening all the way to the show folks that's why Shaq is doing it

[00:12:07] that's called it that's called a tease everybody that's called a tease and so what I was just

[00:12:11] going to say is you know we talk about how weekend leagues being sweaty being hard being

[00:12:15] tough but I think you've hit the nail on the head there nath with you know talking

[00:12:18] about players like Drogba that were cheap and available just look at those amount of

[00:12:23] glazo players that have been released I mean I played weekend league with this leads me to

[00:12:27] my second weekend league because it's now extended through the week it's it's much

[00:12:30] easier for me to play so my second account has got some new life and I had Viale up front

[00:12:36] absolute beast of a card again and I think he's about well he certainly was less than 100k you

[00:12:40] might have crept up a little bit more now he's back now he's out of packs but when everybody

[00:12:45] has access to such good cards again I spoke about this a few weeks ago on the show you

[00:12:51] didn't know nath how there is suddenly very few players that now have a massive advantage

[00:12:56] in teams they're all really scrunched together yes you're going to run into the odd team of

[00:13:00] the year and bapay or r9 team of the year icon but most people just have very very good teams

[00:13:07] not just good teams you know you used to be able to get to team the season you'd be playing

[00:13:11] players who had players from promos four five promos ago you see like a couple of future

[00:13:16] stars or road to the finals and stuff like that you're just not seeing those teams out

[00:13:21] there anymore and whether that's because the player base shrunk as it has or it's just because

[00:13:28] the accessibility of these cards is just everywhere and people are a better ability

[00:13:32] I mean shat do you like it this way but you know going toe to toe with competitive

[00:13:36] teams all the time or again you're a bit like me selfishly you're like damn it I worked

[00:13:41] hard for this beast team and now I've got to face other beast teams yeah look it's such

[00:13:47] a conundrum because on one end I do I absolutely loved the gala's a promo because the amount of

[00:13:53] cards are packed I mean I packed the village I packed a dropper who gets straight into the

[00:13:56] team I'm loving the harry keel I'm just there's so many cards that are really wonderful to use

[00:14:02] the viali doesn't even make my bench but he was still fun to use there's a crouch as well

[00:14:06] that a couple of people use at that point in time and I and there's a marquez this whole

[00:14:10] heap of cards and I love that whole promo because we were trying cards because they

[00:14:14] were cheap and they were trying good cards but the problem is exactly as you said firstly

[00:14:19] everyone's teams are super strong it's really hard to break down every game's a slog fest

[00:14:25] secondly I can't think about an actual replacement through team of the season like none

[00:14:30] of the cards that have come this week I mean to be perfectly honest with you this particular

[00:14:34] promo I don't even really know most of the cards because none of the cards actually

[00:14:39] I don't think most of the cards are not straight swaps into my into my team so it I don't really

[00:14:45] I think as a player base I don't really think we know what we want I've come to that

[00:14:50] realization that we don't really know what we want we thought we wanted this now that we have

[00:14:54] this we're not really sure this is the right thing so I think yeah we've got to figure out

[00:14:59] what we what we want I think yeah I agree it's um we'll we'll shout oh we need more of x when

[00:15:06] we don't have it and then um and then we get it and we don't like it um which kind of leads

[00:15:11] me into another sort of main talking point as we sort of shift away from weekend league and

[00:15:14] look we're going to get to things like content as well in the patch and stuff all throughout

[00:15:18] the show so don't worry we will be getting to that but Lepente has released a video

[00:15:22] yesterday as we record this on Monday talking about how EA have perhaps gone a bit too far

[00:15:28] with rewarding the menu grind as opposed to playing the actual game itself and he was

[00:15:34] pointing out how basically he could sit there and grind the menu for a few hours and have a much

[00:15:38] better chance of accessing some of these promo cards than if you you know you ground out a

[00:15:43] week's worth of squad battles or you know really worked hard for rivals at a lower rank

[00:15:48] and things like this and naith how do you feel the kind of balance is at the moment do

[00:15:53] you think that do you sit there in the morning and think right say you want Bruno Fernandez do

[00:15:58] you sit there thinking right I need to get my wins done my weekend league done da da da

[00:16:01] or do you sit there thinking I'm going to grind out player picks where do you kind of

[00:16:05] turn your attention at the moment? To be honest I'm right in the middle Galazzo is very much the

[00:16:10] the menu grind because the pack weight or the drop weight was incredible like Shaq was saying so

[00:16:16] to be honest I'm not against it I think when you look at when you look at it as a whole

[00:16:20] the menus are a very very big part of it so you know whereas the gameplay is obviously

[00:16:26] the main thing the menus are just almost as big and it's a whole facet on its own so

[00:16:30] you do get people that enjoy and just want them in your grind so I think it's actually

[00:16:34] quite good that it's rewarding because you know very rarely do you do 20 minutes of grind and

[00:16:40] suddenly have a stack team like you do have to put in like the elbow grease to do it whether

[00:16:45] it's to craft the packs whether it's to find ways to get more more those gold cards whether

[00:16:49] you buy them from the promo store or whether you you know I've put about 200k and 89s in

[00:16:54] the last few days just so I can you know open the exchanges so I think it's quite good

[00:17:00] that you can be rewarded that way as well because not everybody is enjoying the gameplay as much as

[00:17:04] you know as we do I say we enjoy it sort of loosely because obviously as it's having

[00:17:08] the moments but I don't think it's a bad thing at all like I totally get that you know

[00:17:14] the better player should probably be rewarded in a better way which which they are because when

[00:17:18] you look at the the weekend league rewards when you look at the rivals rewards like they are

[00:17:22] tiered so you've got you know 87 times three or whatever it is and and stuff like that so

[00:17:26] you do obviously get better rewards for being a better player but you know not everyone's

[00:17:30] fortunate enough to be at that level so they need to have a way like a grindable way in a

[00:17:35] realistic way of getting these getting these cards and I don't think we should

[00:17:38] discriminate against the people that are maybe lower divisions just because they physically can

[00:17:43] get up there for whatever reason so yeah I think it's kudos to you on this.

[00:17:48] Shaq what do you think the balance lies at the moment?

[00:17:51] Currently the question that you asked Nate exactly is I would say I would just be if

[00:17:55] I really wanted to pack a particular card for example if I was really after a BISEC or a Bruno

[00:18:00] I think player picks would be the way to go. I'm 100% guaranteed when I do my weekend league

[00:18:04] even my rivals I'm in div 2 I'm expecting to get 12 86 plus cards at my rivals rewards

[00:18:11] guarantee you I'm not going to pack the team this season that I probably want yeah I'm

[00:18:14] not even going to pack a team this season out of those 12 big pools but just by grinding

[00:18:19] the player picks I'm 99.9% sure I will pack one team this season that I potentially want

[00:18:25] that's how the Galazzo promo was and if I spend enough time grinding our picks I will get at

[00:18:31] least one team this season so that's it that's how the game is again one of the things I

[00:18:36] really want to point out as well we talk about the gameplay versus the menu the red

[00:18:40] picks you both you both play finish weekend league you got your red picks you can't use

[00:18:44] those red picks that you've earned through gameplay into the evolution to actually upgrade

[00:18:48] them and that that itself is a kick in the teeth it's just weird it's just silly that

[00:18:54] those cards are exactly the same cards just in a different shell but we should be able to

[00:18:58] upgrade them as well shouldn't we yeah I wonder if we're going to see a foot champions

[00:19:03] team of the season evo released in the next couple of days I would not be surprised

[00:19:06] um if EA do that whether this was deliberate or accidental I mean it's EA so unfortunately

[00:19:12] guys your track record makes me think that it's accidental and this is just an oversight

[00:19:16] but you know they have got a chance to remedy it it's it's really difficult I understand what

[00:19:20] when a penthouse is coming from in that yeah you do sit there and you can play 30 games of

[00:19:26] squad battles and you get like a just a trash red pick at the end of it and just and a couple

[00:19:33] of really bad packs as well and you're thinking well what's the point bothering I

[00:19:36] might as well have just spent you know because that will take you good you know five six

[00:19:39] hours plus as opposed to like you know like you said spending an hour on player picks

[00:19:43] or as naysayers said go and buy a few 89s with your coins put them in the exchanges and

[00:19:47] hey presto you'll probably get more to build your team and the other point he was kind of

[00:19:51] making is it once again leads you into the lack of game modes question because yeah you're

[00:19:56] going to grind the menus and you'll get some of these team of the season live cards

[00:19:59] and where are you going to pick them where are you going to play them because weekend

[00:20:03] league as we've just mentioned has got serious um you know squad battles and squad battles

[00:20:09] you can play anybody you like fair enough friendlies at the moment the cup is the

[00:20:14] weird and wacky cup so it doesn't really make a difference the only place to really try out

[00:20:20] these players without thinking it's going to cost you is obviously rivals which has got a

[00:20:26] little bit easier I will say because people are promoting and not relegating correctly

[00:20:31] um obviously no relegation but and then we can leave playoffs so we do kind of need that

[00:20:37] mode I'd love to see like a tots live cup for example where it requires you to play at least

[00:20:41] three of these something like that but I mean do you do you still think do you go to gameplay

[00:20:48] for the rewards at the moment or are you going to gameplay for just gameplay better both

[00:20:52] mainly rewards but you know whereas the the last few days of the season so I don't need any

[00:20:57] xp I've got my wins last week so I go out to try at the moment I'm trying new formations

[00:21:03] I'm going back to four two three one to try and be a little bit more solid but play around so

[00:21:06] it's not a boring thing so yeah I I it's hard because you know we asked for a different cup

[00:21:13] mode the game is mystery bowl it's right away people are like oh it's a mystery bowl we don't

[00:21:17] like that one it's we can't have our cake and eat it and it's a little bit like what

[00:21:21] Shaq was saying earlier you know like we kind of always want what we don't have

[00:21:25] and then when we do get it we want something else that we don't have now so

[00:21:29] it's hard I mean the game's huge so they should be able to factor in a normal friendlies with

[00:21:35] a mystery bowl or no rules or whatever so I'm not saying that you know they shouldn't do

[00:21:39] things differently but they mixed up and we're still kind of seeing especially on

[00:21:45] socials like we are seeing a lot of I wouldn't say slander but a lot of complaints about how

[00:21:49] they've mixed up and I just feel like you know I probably sound a bit more like an ea

[00:21:54] sympathist today which I'm absolutely not because they did definitely have the downsides but

[00:21:59] I do feel like they did try and do something different and try and give us what we've been

[00:22:03] asking for but because it's not exactly what everybody's asking for it's now oh well let's

[00:22:07] go and do something else and you know I'm like you I was a silver silver lounge person last

[00:22:12] year I miss having that kind of lounge and I know that doesn't really come into this but

[00:22:15] you usually have like a silver tots like a silver level tots and you know some of the

[00:22:19] promos would be specific for that so I think that's that was a big thing they took away but

[00:22:24] they have replaced it with other stuff and other ways of grinding packs and stuff so

[00:22:27] I don't think it's terrible I just think that PEA, oh not EA sorry the fan base and

[00:22:32] the player base always want what they've haven't got and we could literally give them every

[00:22:36] single game mode available for rewards and then they'll say oh there's too much or they've

[00:22:40] given us this but why haven't we got Volta in there so do you know what I mean like

[00:22:43] there's always something that people will want whether they whether it's feasible or not.

[00:22:48] Yeah I'd like to see some sort I think there's a kind of a hybrid between a cup

[00:22:51] and rivals that maybe they could do like I've got so many players to evo at the moment

[00:22:56] but I'm in the elite division and I don't really want to have so many of these evo

[00:23:01] requirements are like play four games of rivals or chance with ex-player and the danger with a

[00:23:06] lot of you know I'm trying to evo 66 red Reading players and I mean that dilemma of

[00:23:11] okay well do I start them and then sacrifice chem for the rest of the team and the player

[00:23:15] I'm bringing on or do I wait and hope to get into a winning position and then bring

[00:23:20] somebody on and a lot of the time when you get into that comfortable position somebody's quit

[00:23:25] on you so and yeah I could go and just play rivals casually but rivals games as we've talked

[00:23:31] about they're long they're 15-20 minutes so I'm spending hours as just a byproduct just

[00:23:37] especially once I've got my seven eight wins just to get my player evolved and that isn't

[00:23:41] particularly satisfying either so I wonder there could be something like a totes lounge

[00:24:20] to open up so I can dump it to exchange and do my my upgrade grind that's literally what my

[00:24:25] end goal is just to have some more cards so going back to your your friendly mode if they

[00:24:30] have a friendly mode that's constantly there and every five wins you're guaranteed an 89

[00:24:34] 89 rated not even 89 plus 89 rated non-rare gold that's all for every five wins in the cup

[00:24:40] mode you get an 800 gold that's all they need to do every one of us will be playing that

[00:24:44] mode getting those five wins casually who we don't really care if every five wins you get a card

[00:24:49] you go and upgrade get 51 players and it's as simple as that that's all they need to do and

[00:24:54] I think not having a cup mode that's consistently there is is a silly thing I don't really

[00:24:59] understand why EA doesn't have a cup mode that's consistently there we have a cup mode

[00:25:03] that's there for a couple of days and then boom it's gone there's no cup mode again and

[00:25:07] then yeah I don't really understand why they keep removing the cup mode this oh probably

[00:25:12] completely the cup once they haven't really refreshed it for maybe making it like you

[00:25:16] finished a cup mode just go in there play two games a day and you get something else or just

[00:25:21] it's not a hard fix to be honest yeah it does seem like a real sort of end goal there as

[00:25:26] nath said you had things like the silver lounge that were there for the last couple of games

[00:25:29] where you knew okay you know every Wednesday you can go and play it and slowly build

[00:25:32] it your team and just have little niches like that and I just think that EVO has been

[00:25:36] one of the best parts of this game but they've really dropped the ball in having

[00:25:41] a place where you can use them and really run them you know I'd love to again the

[00:25:46] silver lounge was a place where I could play my reading players without that much punishment

[00:25:51] yeah I would have this some of the silver team of the weeks in there but there'll be

[00:25:54] four or five players at least for the first half of the year that I would use happily so

[00:25:58] if there was an EVO lounge I think that'd be fantastic of course you can listen sorry gone

[00:26:03] oh so this cup mode that I was talking about you can also have an

[00:26:07] additional caveat where you can actually evolve players there because you can only evolve one

[00:26:11] player at a time so EVO more I mean this particular cup mode exactly EVO plays as well

[00:27:53] or would you prefer having the league specific upgrades 801 plus although just I've never really

[00:27:59] had much out of those other packs but picks at least you can either pick the fodder so if you

[00:28:03] get a higher rated one that's not specific you can exchange it you can build normal SPCs

[00:28:08] the packs all day any day I think I have PTSD from opening those packs at like bloody team

[00:28:14] of the year and team of the season last year and just back after pack after pack after pack

[00:28:18] yeah I'm happy with these picks absolutely as much as I mourn the old league SPCs bring them

[00:30:10] and the the evo he could could be tremendous I'm in two minds about that he's not overly

[00:30:16] expensive so I might just do him for time in the club there's the habits one which I know

[00:30:22] Shaq wants to go onto so I'll leave that and there's the real Ferdinand icon sbc I don't

[00:30:27] actually know if that was released during the talk so was that before but he's another one

[00:30:31] that I've got my eye on but apart from that like there's not been an awful lot really to

[00:30:36] to hit home about I'm slowly getting my way through that mcgin objective which I'll have

[00:30:40] just to have an extra high rated player but apart from that it's been it feels a little

[00:30:45] bit more like warm-up still rather than full-blown tots yeah it's worrying Shaq that we've had more

[00:30:50] showdowns than tots players really so far in sbcs yeah exactly there's hardly been any

[00:30:56] really good content apart from I think personally I think habits is a is decent content especially

[00:31:01] considering that arsenal's doing well he can get the plus two upgrade which takes him to a

[00:31:05] 94 I really like the fact that he's got a whole lot of things his his stats are really

[00:31:10] well placed he can play in multiple positions play striker central midfielder left back he can

[00:31:15] play literally everywhere on the pitch I'm really stuck in between wondering whether habits is a go

[00:31:22] for my team or not because a lot of people are there's a lot of love for habits on the time

[00:31:26] on my x timeline I'm sure you guys have seen the love for habits as well

[00:31:32] Nate said he's probably not really convinced that he's going to do habits he's considering

[00:31:35] he might consider Rio which I'm considering as well but what about you Dan would you prefer

[00:31:41] habits this for me is one of those cards I mean look it's 1.4 million coins worth of fodder

[00:31:46] right now it is a very good card I'm not going to dispute that at all I think it looks

[00:31:50] fine but this is one that you really need to see the the actual tots cards from the

[00:31:56] major leagues before you dive into this especially the premier league one and the

[00:31:59] concert that comes out I think if you've had a dire need for this kind of a card great go and

[00:32:05] do it I think cam probably his best position maybe wide lamb or ram as well I'm not convinced

[00:32:13] can overly convinced by him at left back I don't like the medium medium I just think the

[00:32:17] strength and defense aren't elite but look if Arsenal get the two upgrades and you put

[00:32:22] no sorry can't fit into the evo if he gets the two upgrades he's going to be a monster

[00:32:26] of a card but why not just wait is my opinion on this card see what the way is for the prem

[00:32:32] tots players and see what the general quality is like of them because I'd hate to chuck so

[00:32:36] much fodder into a player unless you had a specific role for him in mind and I that is

[00:32:43] the one problem as I said I look at this card and I go what is he shack what what is that

[00:32:48] card designed to be I think his utility is fantastic but then you fall into that territory

[00:32:53] yeah but you could play x or y ahead of him in those roles I think a lot of people have mentioned

[00:32:58] that he's a really good box to box my only concern is he might be he's not this agile box

[00:33:03] to box like even a roll for or a sour he's not he's not as agile as he should be so he

[00:33:08] will catch me off guard like I'll find him hard to dribble as a box to box but

[00:33:13] a lot of people are having a lot of success with him as a box to box with the finesse

[00:33:16] shot plus as well so it's a it's a tricky one and as you said like I think your point

[00:33:22] is pretty good just to wait till Premier League starts and see what comes and then see the drop

[00:33:25] rate and then decide I guess there's definitely a lot of chat about him playing above his stats

[00:33:30] like because obviously if you want a box to box you'd want probably better work rates than

[00:33:34] that and also the shooting like he's got quite low shooting mainly brought down by his

[00:33:39] penalties in the shot power but at the same time if you're at this stage of the game if

[00:33:43] you're playing a box to box you'd want somebody sort of at least high eighties with the

[00:33:47] shooting if not into the 90s on a card like that so but then you do hear that he plays

[00:33:52] above those stats which sometimes I believe sometimes I think that's just people trying

[00:33:57] to get their view across you know everyone wants to have a slightly different view so

[00:34:00] it's really hard to tell and that's that's the downside if there's no loan you can't

[00:34:04] even if they give you a five for cards over a million sort of coins they should be giving

[00:34:10] you a loan so you can say that's definitely worth my time or you know I'm going to skip

[00:34:14] that one like they do with the with the icons but I just think that he doesn't seem all there

[00:34:19] to be 1.4 mil when for 2.4 mil you get that Bruno card that looks ridiculous yeah and so he's out

[00:34:29] sorry he's out until a week Friday so you'll have the entire top prem cycle to make your

[00:34:36] mind up I just think I just think wait I think wait on this one one I wouldn't wait on

[00:34:40] Maya Ramirez I think Chelsea are in absolute unstoppable form as Emma Hayes looks to sign off

[00:37:18] showdown cards for this e-football to be sorry for the um FC Pro Live FC Pro Live

[00:37:25] not e-football FC Pro Live to have a different background so it distinguishes them from real

[00:37:30] life football so just adds a different spice to the card I think that's a much better

[00:37:34] idea than what they're doing right now yeah EA mistake number 587 this week was uh they

[00:37:40] got the player images wrong when they first launched this SBC as well so um GGs again yeah

[00:37:45] yeah especially after the side Alexandra one they've done it again it's just bizarre

[00:37:51] still waiting for my compensation by the way the EA tweeted that they had remedied the

[00:37:55] compensation for this and I completed the one that was listed as being Sandro and obviously got

[00:38:02] the I can't remember Caputo Caputo but I haven't got Sandro where's my Sandro EA you

[00:38:07] said you'd fix this so what compensation have you handed out um anyway one's keep an eye on

[00:38:13] the other showdown SBC naith uh Kera against Ben Rama shows how much I've been following closely

[00:38:20] real world football because I sit here and I think when did they move from West Ham um

[00:38:27] these guys move um yeah Ben Rama one was just ongoing he was engineering that but again

[00:38:33] they're just they're a bit meh and when we talk about like you know the value for them

[00:38:37] and stuff I'm like well some of these top cards the top slide cards are almost discard value now

[00:38:42] so I know it's slightly different putting coins in compared to to players but some of those you

[00:38:48] know holding packs I wouldn't go out my way to do it they look fine I think to be fair I

[00:38:52] think they'll do a job um Kera looks fairly good um but I'm just I'm not enthused by

[00:38:58] this I don't know whether I'm because I'm not enthused by the premise I'm just not really

[00:39:02] following them as much but I think even with the with the full upgrades I think that you're

[00:39:06] going to get better players in a week's time anyway a lot easier to pack than you won't have

[00:39:11] to use your own players almost yeah I agree there is the odd one that will slip through

[00:39:15] the net and show this I remember Nathan Eke had a showdown just before Tots a couple of years

[00:39:19] ago that turned out to be really good um I think it might have been the league cup final

[00:39:23] one and I used that all the way through Tots he was that good and Kera with that five

[00:39:27] star weak foot again you have to look at all of these cards through the scope of they need

[00:39:32] to be in the conversation but again for my second account a fairly fresh defense this guy's perfect

[00:39:38] I went out and completed him and he plays really well so far so I'm looking forward to seeing

[00:39:42] what that does but yeah I mean these do very much seem orientated at if you are a brand new

[00:39:48] player because none of them um seem meta monsters as you put it Shaq so you had to get into the

[00:39:53] team so look do them at your own the good the best thing I can say about all of these

[00:39:57] showdowns is they're cheap uh and they're not going to cost you a lot of fodder

[00:40:01] you know joke about time maybe that is the biggest one um but at least they're available

[00:40:05] and it gives you a little bit of extra skin in the game if you are watching the FC pro live

[00:40:08] finals you know they're still dropping packs and things like that gives you a little bit

[00:40:11] of extra interest in that and I can't blame EA for putting out players that are designed

[00:40:16] to get people to watch their events so that's perhaps to be explained and again Kera playing

[00:40:20] for Monaco now um Ben Rama playing for Leon looks a really good trickster he has got

[00:40:25] trickster and um the dribble the dribble playstyle plus which I can't even remember

[00:40:31] the name technical plus I I my brain is mush these guys that's what playing two

[00:40:35] week in leagues is done to be gents I can't even talk anymore um but again if you like

[00:40:40] it looks like the definition of a fun card with those two play styles so it's out there and

[00:40:46] available to do if you want to do it I did mention as well that we have had a title

[00:40:51] update I think it's title update 13 run now now the only real notes we got was that they are

[00:40:56] finally fixing that glitch where it says where it displays every time you complete something

[00:41:01] it says level up in the top right hand corner even though you haven't leveled up apparently

[00:41:06] that's now fixed um and there was one other tiny thing about concept players not appearing

[00:41:11] correctly that they have fixed as well however this was a large patch for me

[00:41:15] and one of the things that I've noticed and again it's only just before midday on the

[00:41:19] Tuesday the patch is only about a couple of hours Shaq I asked you this question before we

[00:41:24] went on air I was doing some player picks the border for picking a player the actual thing

[00:41:29] that shows you which player you're selecting on console at the moment that seems to have disappeared

[00:41:36] exactly and now we did a test run earlier and that completely disappeared and the only way

[00:41:41] you you know what player selecting is when they flash up for a second and you just have

[00:41:45] to hope that you haven't moved your controller if you just keep your eyes glued to the screen so

[00:41:50] yeah I don't know why that's disappeared but hopefully it gets fixed soon because

[00:41:53] there's going to be a lot of pain trying to do player picks on console

[00:41:58] yeah they can't seem to fix one thing without breaking something else

[00:42:02] go on they did they did tell us a while ago that they fixed those objectives you know

[00:42:06] where you have 19 objectives you've done but you go inside there's nothing that's available

[00:42:09] to you and I just locked in to check the player pick and I had it said I had eight

[00:42:15] objectives done actually looked in I had just two so it's that that's that's still broken

[00:42:22] yeah I think someone was talking on one of the podcasts a while ago

[00:42:26] that this game has just been built over so much old code that it's now gotten to the

[00:42:33] point where they don't even realize when one thing affects the other it's just such an

[00:42:38] absolute mess and again don't have a developer you're more than welcome to come onto this show

[00:43:20] I've only played one game of squad battles before we went live with this show and the

[00:43:23] only thing I noticed was that the Oppo keeper was saving everything so have there been shadow

[00:43:28] changes we don't know but I'm sure by the time we get to Friday we will find out um

[00:43:34] time to get on to the final couple of segments of the show of course we've got the mail bag to

[00:43:38] finish but just before we get to that it's player in review and naith I'm going to start

[00:43:44] with you and this is a player you wanted to review a couple of weeks ago yes I was fortunate

[00:43:50] fortunate enough like you were Dan to pick the winter world cards uh Peli out of a player

[00:43:55] pick um up until this weekend he has been ridiculously good um his pace is electric he

[00:44:01] doesn't have many well he's only got one place to help us which you know it's a little bit of a

[00:44:07] downside to him however he's electric his dribbling is unreal his finishing on the

[00:44:12] hole is ridiculous um doesn't win a lot ahead but his rest of his game is just

[00:44:18] stupidly good you can see why he's three and a half mil still um I know there's the 97 out

[00:44:22] which I can only imagine is just unbelievable but this guy can do pretty much everything

[00:44:28] his passing is very good I've been playing him as a striker off drogba so I've got little and

[00:44:32] large up front um I've just put him as central cam in the four two three one so I'm not 100

[00:44:38] sure what like because I've only played one game and I went to the four triple two after

[00:44:41] a while but he's definitely one of these top tier cards and he's the best player that

[00:44:46] I've got in my side currently yeah I've generally loved Peli I think he's a good

[00:44:55] very good all-rounder card but again I just have that drogba regret the fact he's taking

[00:44:59] the most place in my team and also getting skill issue for me because I don't do many

[00:45:03] five star skills um Shaq your reviews though my review is the icon center back Rio Ferdinand

[00:45:10] I think when we're talking about Havertz Nate mentioned that he plays Havertz plays

[00:45:14] above his stats and Rio I think he completely plays above his stats his stats and you compare

[00:45:20] them to any team of the season defender even you compare them to even Marquez or Akange

[00:45:26] probably won't stand out as much but he's just he is him in game he's so good he's probably

[00:45:32] the only defender so far this cycle that I've actually thought this guy is better than

[00:45:36] Van Dyke and he really I mean we shouldn't be comparing a goal card against a team with

[00:45:40] the icon but we all know what Van Dyke does in this game Rio is just solid he doesn't he

[00:45:47] shouldn't be as solid as he is because he should fall over but he just hold his own and he's got

[00:45:52] anticipated loss which just gets the ball away from the from the opposition um I don't think

[00:45:58] he's put a foot wrong for me and he shouldn't be as fast as he actually is in game he

[00:46:02] shouldn't be as agile he should his passing is at 70 or 70 it's not really that high but

[00:46:07] his passing is pretty crisp of what he is I'm really enjoying Rio and I think um I convinced

[00:46:12] myself after using Rio I just bought the tradeable version of Rio I'm going to sell him

[00:46:16] soon and I think if I don't get anything for Prem Tots to do as an SBC I'll just complete

[00:46:22] his SBC and use him for the rest of the cycle he is that good you know how to tempt a man

[00:46:26] Shaq you know how to tempt me I just looked at his stats and he's just so close to Sol

[00:46:31] Campbell and I've been getting on with Sol Campbell that I just it's so hard to commit

[00:46:36] to that two million coin SBC because once you're in you're in and everybody knows that

[00:46:42] you're into one of those SBCs something else comes out that catches your eye because that

[00:46:47] is the world we live in um in our own versions of The Truman Show that's how the script gets

[00:46:51] written so very tempted to do it um I do need to try out the loan I might try out the loan

[00:46:56] for the first few games of Weekend League um to make my mind up next time my player for

[00:47:01] review this week um nothing particularly amazing I'm going to review Rume Loftus Cheek the

[00:47:06] cheapest of the players we've mentioned he's only about 250k used him on that second account

[00:47:11] helped get me 11 wins I just think he's an absolute textbook box to box midfielder he's

[00:47:17] good in the final third he's great in his own third and he's fantastic in the middle

[00:47:20] just think if you're looking for that player on the cheap and again considering this is a

[00:47:24] card that can get upgraded and also evoed as well I think it's fantastic if you are looking

[00:47:29] for that box to box midfielder go out and get him I can't even really describe what he

[00:47:33] does well he just does everything well I don't think there's anything I would say he's utterly

[00:47:38] amazing beyond brilliant at I just think he's just that perfectly well rounded card and again

[00:47:43] I think if you're sat there looking at Havertz or Loftus Cheek I would go I'd much rather go

[00:47:48] out and actually spend 250 000 coins and try Ruben Loftus Cheek first and again wait for

[00:47:53] those upgrades rather than having to kind of completely gamble on Kai Havertz and spending

[00:47:58] that 1.4 million and again he can even play like right wing back as well um I'd love him

[00:48:03] if he actually played right back because that would solve some chemistry issues but that is uh

[00:48:07] like WIM problems so that just about wraps up today's show um only one other thing I wanted

[00:48:13] to bring up before we ride off into the sunset of course we've got one question for the mail

[00:48:17] bag as well which I will say um from Obugret which is a really nice scene ended but also

[00:48:23] gents is BISEC the biggest player you've ever seen in foot because I thought my game might

[00:50:32] in behind finally tight marker for those defenders and midfielders who specialize

[00:50:45] got the ability to code something like a goal hanger because otherwise we would have players

[00:50:50] that already did that um but if this was a dream world I love all of those three um

[00:51:39] you're in the 80th minute onwards and you're one nil up this guy just goes to town he'll

[00:51:44] go to the corner corner flag and just sit on the ball so you kind of get it he would

[00:51:49] pick the ball up and just kick it over the stadium like that I think that would be hilarious but

[00:51:53] I'm not quite sure if anyone else would agree with that

[00:52:35] involved with that but goalkeepers are just so forgotten about at the moment like really

[00:52:39] I know we had the checks at SPC but they haven't done much work with the goalkeepers

[00:52:44] I'd love to see something like that if we're being sensible

[00:52:51] could think of and one I've always been sort of disappointed they don't implement is something

[00:52:55] to do with the captaincy something to do with leadership whether that's a chem boost or maybe

[00:53:00] a stamina boost or something like that I just think that passion yeah the passion trait is

[00:53:06] something like that something that should reward those players that are just like pure leaders

[00:53:15] something like that even like the mess the messes that you know they inspire their teams through

[00:53:21] you know Maradona type players as well something like that if you give someone the arm band

[00:53:27] yeah it just gives anybody around even it's like a small extra chemistry boost or

[00:53:32] just something like that or just even like a fitness boost in the second half like a 10

[00:53:37] fitness boost for three people around them around that position so yeah that's a that's a really

[00:53:43] good one Dan well super sub could be a good one as well I mean Reading used to have Adam
