Mbappé Brains Paraguay & Morocco's 3-0 Sensation! 🇫🇷🇲🇦 | World Cup Daily #34

We break down the final whistle rants and tactical standouts unfiltered:

  • The MetLife Rough House: France edges out underdogs Paraguay 1-0 courtesy of a clinical penalty conversion from Kylian Mbappé. We deep-dive into Paraguay’s anti-football blueprint , which descended into blatant face-slapping, elbowing, and shin-kicking targeted at Mbappé. Despite facing 13 fouls and extreme off-the-ball antics, Mbappé kept his cool, slammed home the pressure spot-kick, and celebrated by addressing his opponents in Spanish.

  • The Refereeing Disaster: We launch an absolute post-mortem critique against Uzbekistani referee Ilgiz Tantashev and the silent VAR booth. We call out the complete lack of consistency that resulted in three yellow cards for France —including an absurd card for Michael Olise —while Paraguay escaped without a single yellow card for the first time since 1998.

  • Morocco Crushes the Co-Hosts: Morocco cruises past co-hosts Canada with a commanding 3-0 tactical display to book a blockbuster quarter-final date against France. Azzedine Ounahi completely ran the show, coming off the bench to score a beautiful brace. While Canada showed tremendous physical spirit , their severe lack of attacking quality upfront completely isolated Jonathan David all match.

[00:00:00] Mbappé has now 19 World Cup goals while Messi has 20, 7 goals on the whole tournament. And Mbappé has shown that he's a fighter but he's a gentleman fighter although apparently his Spanish is actually way on par. This is FUT IN REVIEW. Welcome back to FUT IN REVIEW episode, I think it's already episode 34.

[00:00:29] Oh, round of 16, first day in here. My name is John and I'll be discussing the two matches Canada vs Morocco and Paraguay vs France. But not all that my dear friend Chris. Chris, welcome back my friend. Hey mate, how are you? Sleepy. Sleepy. I'm a bit angry as well. Yeah. Well, you need to be on point John because I'm going to take my studs and I'm going to rake that penalty spot before you even start.

[00:01:00] Oh, yeah, where to start? Not only we have to figure it out, but just a little bit of context. Yesterday we did a, or like a couple of hours ago, we did a live stream Chris, where we were doing a watch along for Paraguay vs France. Yep. It was highly entertaining. I had lots of fun, but I went to bed very agitated. I don't know if it was a football game John or a WWE wrestling match we were watching.

[00:01:29] It was, it was, it was good fun. Moving on a good way, but I certainly enjoyed it. Yeah. Let's start with that match first, shall we? Because I wanted to, we have to discuss Morocco, obviously, and Gunna's fight there. But, um, yeah, what can we say? We knew, we knew that Paraguay would go out fighting.

[00:01:49] They would be defending, they would play anti-football. And as the goalkeeper said, prior to the match, we will, if we miss the ball, if the ball gets through, the men will not, where it's literally worse. Well, they didn't take care of that word, didn't they? Yeah, I mean, they had to bring it down to a level, John. I mean, this is, this is the thing. It's, it's, it's no Paraguay's fault that they had to, you know, they're not the better team, let's be honest.

[00:02:16] There may be one team in this whole tournament that can match France for, for their skill and pace. And I was going to say power, but actually I think the power was very much with Paraguay. So Paraguay had to drop this game down to a level that they could compete at. And the way to do that was to roughhouse tactics. That was what their field tactic was. They were not going to allow France to run through them and score beautiful goals. And I'm all for that.

[00:02:43] Yes. And you thought I was very much against it, but that's not really my issue with this match, Chris. My issue has to do, and I really hate doing this, but I am going to do it. My issue has to do with the referee Tontashev from Uzbekistan. I mean, shithouse resolve, fine, right? Do you think? Being very hard physically, you can do that. I think Kapford showed that you can be physically strong.

[00:03:12] You can like rough it up a little bit, but still do it within limits. You, like what Paraguay did yesterday, the slapping in the face of Mbappé, the elbow in the second half, the kicking after the fall has been committed to the shins of Mbappé. You know, this is one of, you know, the referee that says, holding your hand in front of people's mouth in a controversial way, it's a red card. This referee is actually doing the other way around.

[00:03:41] Mbappé gets kicked to the shind, yellow card to Mbappé. This, mate, this was the other way around. And so just to be clear, I don't mind the fact that this is their way of playing football. Do I like it? No, not really actually. But is it allowed? Sure. But within limits, and if you cross the limit, you get a card or you get penalized for it, right? They went on with 13 falls.

[00:04:10] And if you look back at it, I showed you the highlight clip. I made five clips this morning and I showed you. From those five or six moments, at least two are a red card directly, right? The VAR calls for a penalty because the referee didn't see it. It's a wonder the VAR card called there because I think it was also asleep. Must be a VAR in Europe, I suppose. But somewhere you got to draw a limit and then they give like...

[00:04:37] Only say touches a player after getting like probably manhandled there. And the player falls over and only say gets a yellow card. So we got three yellow cards for France and we get 13 of falls with at least two direct red cards from it. And not a single yellow card from Paraguay. Chris, this was the first time since 1998 that Paraguay did not get a yellow card.

[00:05:03] They are lost on the FIFA World Ranking of fair play. Even like we know what we're playing up against here. But this isn't a bad referee. This is just completely lost it with all due respect. And this is the second match this World Cup which he does it as well. How is that possible? I don't know John. I mean this is the thing is nobody knows the inner workings of FIFA. We had the game earlier which we'll talk about the Canada-Morocco game

[00:05:31] where the referee lost control in the opposite direction and flashed too many cards. Yeah, I mean look, let's be honest. If the English ref was doing this match, mate, this would be done in 10 minutes and just 3-0 before feed. Yeah, I mean the thing is, let's be honest. If the referee had... I've got to be careful what I say here. So the referee has mismanaged the game. I think that's as simple as that.

[00:05:59] He's allowed the tackles to develop and get worse and worse. Paraguay, to their credit, hang on in there. And the only way brands looked like they were going to score was through a set piece and the events got a penalty. Which is a definite penalty. You know, there's no complaints from that point of view. I haven't got my Paraguay strip on complaining the fact that there was a penalty given. You go for the double. You know, but the thing is,

[00:06:27] the referee is there to manage the game. That's ultimately his responsibility. And he could have cracked down on it. But let's be honest, it made for quite an entertaining game. The fact that he did that. Because the truth of the matter is if he hadn't, eventually, France would have ran over the top of them. So yeah. I don't know. We had good fun last night, I must admit. And I enjoyed it. I mean, we did have good fun. And like I said, I don't disapprove the way they play. But there's limits.

[00:06:55] Because the way the number four, I forgot his name, and maybe that's for the best, kicked Mbappé in the shin after he already committed a foul on it. Yeah. I mean, come on. That shouldn't be allowed. The way that right fullback who did the same against Germany, hit Mbappé in the face. The way there was a clear elbow in the stomach of Konate. Ah, it's just, that's a bit much, you know. It's just too much. And you gotta call. And I don't know what the referee, even if the referee is just blind in this situation or loses control.

[00:07:24] A VR should immediately call this. Like saying, hey, come on. This is a red card. It's a wonder they called for that penalty. Honestly. Um, I've, that's more my issue. The referees has been pretty good this, this world cup. The rules have been implemented decently. And you know the five second rules, for example. Yeah. Every single goal kick took more than 40 seconds for Paraguay. How is that? How can that happen?

[00:07:52] When you know you got five seconds or else it's a corner. Are you saying that this referee is not getting the final then, John? I had, he's already 13 years at FIFA apparently. I checked it this morning. I don't think he should ever be allowed to do a professional match ever again. There's so much, so much more perfect, like good referees there. You know, if you can't even count to five, Chris, what are you doing here?

[00:08:19] Who filled in this, this guy's, who filled in this guy's visa? I would say though, if you think about it from Mbappé's point of view. You know, Mbappé's not a great season. I don't think he's getting on amazingly well at Madrid. But he stood up to this. You know, there's a toughness about him that maybe, you know, you've got to admire a little bit as well. And, you know, he gave it back at the end. He was smiling, laughing, celebrating like they'd won the World Cup. So fair play.

[00:08:47] If you give it out, you've got to take it back. You know what I mean? That's my view about it. We've got a manager in Scotland, Neil Lennon, his name. Ex Celtic player, ex Celtic manager. And he's famous for giving the fans it back. And, you know, when he managed Hibbs, he would get it tight for the Rangers fans. But he'd give it back a little bit as well. But you've just got to take it. And people admire the fact that Neil Lennon will take it and also give it back. So I think Mbappé's shown a bit of steel about him. And I think, you know, you can look at it and go,

[00:09:16] yeah, Paraguay, all negative. But, you know, you've got a player here who can stand up to the roughness of this sort of thing. And I don't think you'll get many games like this going forward. I think this game maybe will highlight the fact that I think referees will clamp down on it going into the tournament. But, you know, if I was coming up against France, I would be worried because this team's got a bit of steel about them. So, yeah, I think that was my biggest takeaway.

[00:09:42] If you leave the referee out of this, Paraguay's style is, well, nothing to do with football. But I get why they do it right. And it's been working for them. And that's all fine. They've got a great goalkeeper. They've got a defense who works for it. I don't think it's my style of football, but I can appreciate the fact you commit to it. And also, maybe you should get punished for it. But that's a different story. Germany lost their minds, like fighting back, slapping back, scolding, fighting.

[00:10:11] This France team is boosted for their technicality, for their strength, for their endurance, for their tactical power. But staying cool in moments like this, any player that gets so much kick as Mbappe did yesterday would have lost his mind. Mbappe stood up every single time, only did one slight push at the first half. After like the third of all, man, Delen get refereed for.

[00:10:38] He took the penalty himself, even after all the shithousery that went going on. He blasted in the penalty, then went to the crowd and said, Vamos! I can appreciate that as well. And then the defender that kept hitting him and hit him at his shin, the number four. I should have checked his name before we started. And Cassidy? Could be. It was number four. That's something I'll check in a moment. But, you know, he speaks very, like Mbappe speaks very good French because he said,

[00:11:08] I'm not going to even hold my hand for this. I'm just going to call out your mom here in Spanish. So, I mean, something to be said there. But I think the way they celebrated afterwards, if you have such a good team that can also put in the Grinta in a good way, like this way, I think this is the World Cup winner, without a doubt for me. Yeah. It's Caceres is the player's name. I think the guy with the shaved head. Yeah, with the big ears.

[00:11:38] I'll have a look then. I'll have a look and see what it is. But... Honestly, if I was Mbappe, I would at least pull his ears once. But that's exactly what they want, John. I know. That's exactly what that player wants. That player wants to put you out of your comfort zone and for you to think more about him than to think about the game. And the fact is, you know, the truth of the matter is Mbappe didn't do that. You know, Mbappe stayed focused.

[00:12:05] And he answered them in the best way possible, scoring the goal. This guy is a right back in the Russian Premier League for Dynamo Moscow. So you will love that. And to make matters even worse, John, he was born in Argentina. So that is right up your street. Cannot get any worse. It all makes sense now. Oh, gosh. Yeah. I think France showed that there are the definite world champions here though. Chris, they are...

[00:12:34] Yeah, if they can survive this, it'll be clear blast roads. They will face Morocco in the next game. Yes. Talk about Morocco. They faced Canada. They... Morocco won 3-0. Canada... I think I saw afterwards that, well, Morocco won as expected. But I think Canada put one heck of a fight and they have shown why the Dutch should not have changed their tactics and just go at this because the Morocco team isn't so strong at the back.

[00:13:05] You talk about sixth in the world, John, Morocco. But strangely, who on our BBC screen was M-A-R for some reason, which is Marac. They go under the French name on the BBC screen. So I was looking at it, my wife actually asked me, why is M-A-R for Morocco? Does that stand for Marrakesh? I went, no, I don't think so. And yeah, so they're called... So they're called Marac and that's what their thing was. But Bear Play Canada, 30th in the world.

[00:13:33] You know, one of the co-hosts getting through at this level. I think they've done really well. I think they've missed quality up front. You know, Jonathan David, who plays for Juve, has been, for me, very disappointing. You know, we are FC players. You know, this is generally an FC podcast and Jonathan David is one of those players that you quite like using. But in real life, he has looked poor, John. And I know you're a Juve fan, so has that kind of been his season? No, I mean, as I said before, I think David isn't good enough for Juve.

[00:14:03] He's probably the best for Canada. We had Lari that final this year, who's the backup striker, who did decent at this World Cup, honestly. But he's not like... He's not even fit enough for the Dutch division, for the Dutch league, right? So I think you are right. They have spirit. They've got good tactics. They fight what they can. I think they were very stable. Quite like the back line as well, honestly. But Morocco is just technically, like individually a better team.

[00:14:33] But I wanted to talk about one of the defenders, because we're talking about six in the world. One of the defenders, Ridouani Halal, who got a yellow card and made for the first shoulder target as well for. He is absolutely by far the weak link of Morocco. And it didn't show so far because many of the teams just build themselves in against Morocco, right? But Canada put their finger on the sore spot here, because if France will go just at that Halal guy,

[00:15:01] I think they'll have plenty and plenty of chances there. And look at the backup. There's no backup for him either. So I think that's the weak spot. But the thing is, you know, unfortunately, they've lost Sabari. I've seen him play for PSV against Rangers, and he is a quality player. You know, he is real, real quality. He got his move to Bayern Munich. Going off, I've not seen any reports yet about how bad the injury is,

[00:15:31] but it looks like a hamstring. Yeah, I think that's it done, isn't it? I think his tournament's done. You know, he's the guy who came and replaced him scored the goal. Do you know what I mean? So he's done no bad. But you've got a football team, I think. Sorry, I take this back. You've got two football teams in France and Morocco. You've got one that's clearly better than the other one. If you're the Morocco manager, what are you doing, John? No, the same you've been doing so far.

[00:15:59] They play 4-2-3-1, right? The only thing is you now miss Sabari on top, which is going to be painful for you. But then again, the other players are pretty good. It is a solid team. And I think, and I should not understate this, I think Morocco is a great team. 10 years ago, Morocco had really awesome players,

[00:16:24] but they were never a team because they come in, don't align, and never looked good. Right? After the last couple of, like the last six years, every time Morocco, I've seen them play. They have played like a proper team. They got heart. They got spirit. They got stamina. They got, the coach is a really cool coach. Really good. Very much composed. I think he looks like Napoleon next to the sideline.

[00:16:53] Like very smart, very composed. They got it all. Except they got the Dutch problem as well. They don't have a big strike. And I think the biggest issue is that they don't have top tier. They've got one defender deal, which is a good defender. They got the best right back in the world in Hakimi. But the other centre back is far below level. And I checked it out. I tried to see who was better, but I don't think there's a better Moroccan defender currently in the world either.

[00:17:22] And I think that's going to cost them against France. And I don't think you can play around that too much. I mean, you've got Brahim Diaz, haven't you? You know, you're going to need a big game from him. I think Morocco sits back, John. I don't see them going at this French team. I think this French team has been shown in the Paraguay. They may not go with the dirty tactics that the Paraguay guys have implemented. But if you push against this French team, they will run through you. You will leave space for Dembele. You'll leave space for Alissi.

[00:17:51] And Mbappe is magical at times. So, you know, I think it will be a tight game. I think Morocco will sit back and try and defend and try and hold what they can and then look for the pace of those players. Say a Hakimi breaking or a Diaz breaking, you know, up. But the problem you've got is, as we talked last night on the stream, you've got those two big massive pillars in Kony and Rabiot in front of that. You know, they just sit there and they protect the...

[00:18:20] They'll protect Kunati and they'll protect Sabari. You know, that's the problem you've got. You know, you break and if those guys haven't put themselves forward, then I think you've got... That's the problem, isn't it? That core that's in the centre of the French team is exceptionally strong. Yeah, and I think you can lean back against this France team like Paraguay did yesterday. But if, like I said, if against Paraguay, if the ref would have given a red card in the first half, that game would be over much sooner already, right?

[00:18:49] And once it was 0-1-0, that was over because then it's done for them. This Moroccan team is far better team than Paraguay. They're not playing with the ball, but I've seen it against the Dutch and I've seen it before. They're not super strong off the ball. And we've seen that with Canada as well. Canada did expose their weakness. If you go at them, even if they don't want to... Like if they want to lose, even if they lean back, they are vulnerable. And I'm afraid...

[00:19:19] It's also not a big insult, right? If you lose, it's now going to be 1-8 final, right? It's a quarter final already? Quarter final. Yeah. If you go out in the quarter final against France, I mean, that's not... You can still go up with your high-lifted high, right? I think with your head-lifted high. I think Morocco want to win it, John. I think they're in it. They'll win it. Sixth in the world they are. If you're six in the world... I mean, yes, but I don't see it happening.

[00:19:48] No, I don't remember you, John. I think with Sabari, we'll be missing. Sabari will be missing. I think Hakimi is, like I said, maybe the best right back in the world, but he's got one weakness. He can't defend. He just can't defend. He's more of a winger. He's just going to overlap. But you can't do it against France because one of the super fast players will just come over you and you're done. And if he's just leaning back, I mean, that's not... I don't think that's going to be helpful for him. It's going to be an awesome match to watch.

[00:20:17] And they fought against Nelands as well, as I'm going to say it. I think they deserve real good praise this tournament. But this France, they've shown they can play against players that... against weaker teams. They've shown they can play against strong teams and they have shown they can play against things that play it dirty and still don't get tilted by it. I think there's just no getting around this. You know, I think, you know, there will be one...

[00:20:46] There will be one semi-finalist will be a shock. Yeah, Spain. There will be one team. Spain, France. Yeah. So, I mean, I'm not saying the final, but what I will do, there's always mostly in this World Cup, in any World Cup, there's always one team that makes it to the semi-final. You go, well, I didn't expect that. Now, could it be Morocco? Mexico? You know, it could be that side. We talked about it last night. You know, there's games tonight or, you know, two games tonight are massive, massive games, you know,

[00:21:11] and two, I would say, relatively on a balance as well, those games, you know. Definitely. So, yeah, I think... Chris. From that point of view, sorry. No, no, no, it's okay. We have to go into our daily topic though, the ball of the butler and the drama. Normally, I'd say let's take a hydration break, but mate, I've been... We've been streaming for two and a half hours yesterday. I don't know. I'm used to doing 25-minute shows now. Yeah. It's quite all right. We don't want to end the booing us, do we?

[00:21:42] Exactly. But if you want to support us, buy us a coffee at buymeacoffee.com slash foodandreview or join us. Check everything out at foodandreview.com. But Chris, the ball of the butler and the drama. The baller, there are several options. Who do you want to give the baller to? I would go to the Paragraph first, but I know that would just set you off, my friend. But I think that, you know, Unai of Morocco, you know, he's definitely come on, you know.

[00:22:11] You know, the body going off, I really thought Morocco were in real trouble. And he's come in and he's done particularly well. You know, he's scored two goals from that point of view. And two good goals as well. I mean, I think, you know, he scored the second one. If you actually look at the finish, he just rocks it into the net. He just throws. He doesn't smash it. He just takes it slightly past the goalkeeper and rolls that ball.

[00:22:39] And that is, I think you can always tell a class player by the speed that they, the way they can manipulate the ball. I know this is off topic a little bit, but Malik Tillman, when he came to Rangers and he went to PSV and he's then moved on to the Bundesliga. When you seen him, the way he could move the ball, he looked class. And that goal to me was class. 100% agree. I think it's definitely right to give it to Anani.

[00:23:08] Although I do think Mbappe for all he had to endure yesterday and he took taking the penalty when the pressure is on. And being so calm, I think could have won it as well. So either Anani or Mbappe. Let's give it to Anani. I think he deserves it. Let's give it to Anani. Mbappe will win many awards this World Cup. Exactly. Talk about the bautler though. I know Shaq put in the notes, Canada. I don't want to go there. Who do you want to call the bautler? Because I know who I am going to be mentioning.

[00:23:37] Strangely, as much as I enjoyed the game last night, I think the bautler has to be VAR and the referee last night. Don't the chef. Oh, what a surprise. Yeah, but I think VAR has to take a bit of the blame, Jon. Yeah, one honour. You know, and let's not have a discussion about VAR. But I think VAR could ask him a couple of times to come over and have a look at certain incidents. Especially with the first smack in the face from Mbappe. Yeah, elbows and... The elbow, just tackling after the...

[00:24:04] If we see the replay happening, Chris, the VAR has seen the replay as well. Yes, of course they've seen it. And why are they not... You know, a referee can miss something. So the elbow, I think the elbow in the chest... It's hard to see for a referee. I can understand. Hard to see for a referee. He could be looking one way. Here goes the thing. He blew for a foul himself at that moment. It was a foul. So he saw something. But hey...

[00:24:30] I mean, the kick on the ground against Mbappe was like shin to calf. It was a yellow card at best. The one where the players are running sort of through midfield and the guy takes a swipe with his arm down. Again, I don't want to see a player sitting off of that. But an elbow. An elbow, yeah. To me, that's a red card. So the referee has to take some responsibility. But I think as much as I hate it, I wish it was in the game. For me, I'm giving the bottle to the VAR.

[00:24:59] Because they clearly were watching something else. Maybe watching our stream, John. Maybe they were. But even then... Okay, let's give the bottle to the referee. The arbitral team at that match. Yeah. They've let themselves down. I'll be surprised if they get many more games going forward. I don't hope they get any. But also, I love the fact that this referee actually has an Instagram account. Who's now blocked, by the way. Just saying.

[00:25:28] The drama, I think it has to be Sabari, no? Yeah. I mean, he's had a wonderful tournament. I mean, he put Scotland to the sword in the first couple of minutes of the game. He has looked like the quality player that he is. Again, another player that can manipulate the ball. He moves beautifully. He just looks class on the pitch. It's disappointing because you want the best going up against the best. And this definitely will blunt the Morocco attack as they go forward to play France. So, yeah. I think the drama for me, John.

[00:25:58] I mean, I've seen him a fair bit, you know, Eredivisie this year. Yeah. Well, he destroyed Feyenoord with a hat-trick. So, I'm glad he's not in the Eredivisie anymore. But that's some player. And an injury like this is never fun. We've seen Jordan Bosz being injured from Feyenoord as well. It looked horrible as well. These injuries are heartbreaking for you, mate. Then you play the whole year. You are extending your season for something the whole world is watching.

[00:26:26] Knowing you won't get much time off after that one. Maybe one week, maybe two weeks if you have like a front manager of you. You get two weeks off before the new season starts while everyone else at the club's already started. And then you, like a Sabari signs a contract and then gets injured like this. It's a heartbreak. A total heartbreak. I mean, he'll come back. Sorry, John. He'll come back. I hope so. Yeah, no, I think, I think, I mean, no, no, no, no.

[00:26:54] But what I'm saying is in terms of for Bayern, I'm reading some of the reports just now saying that, you know, it's a bad thing for Bayern. It's probably what, four to six weeks, armstring injury. He'll get a good rest at least then. He'll miss sort of pre-season. But to... I'd reckon it'll be three months though. It's not his first spell. Do you think so? Yeah, it's not his first spell. Oh, right. It's an armstring injury. So... Oh, that's not good. We don't want to be as long as that. But what I was going to ask you, John, is just this extended World Cup,

[00:27:23] do you think we'll see more players becoming injured? Because I think there's almost an extra round of games, it feels like. Well, there is an extra round of games. So, yes, for sure. Normally, we don't have a round of 32, right? On the World Championship. Yeah. I think we'll see more players being injured. I think the climate isn't easy. It's been a long season for many. The players that got injured and are attaching themselves to the group now, like Jamal, they might be in luck. Right? Yeah.

[00:27:56] We've seen Salah. I mean, he couldn't even walk anymore. He couldn't sprint. He had already a hamstring injury that he was playing. Egypt started that match with 10 and a half men. And in the end, he was still on the pitch. He scored that penalty. But he couldn't even touch the ball anymore. And some of these players have just been overextended and ringed out, I think, a little bit too much. So, yeah. Yeah. It's... I'm afraid we'll see more of these nasty injuries. Yeah.

[00:28:26] And every single one just... Just hurts. You know? Yeah, no, it does. I mean... It's very disappointing. Yeah. And especially, you know, when a hamstring goes with a big guy, Sabari, who is definitely trained and powerful. That's usually a sign of, like, overdoing things, right? So, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think he's played an awful amount of football. True. True. Definitely. So, good luck recovering for Sabari.

[00:28:54] A little bit of a headlub for tonight's matches. We've got two matches. Just quickly, who's going to win? Brazil versus Norway? I'm going with my good friend, Ingvi. I'm going to Norway. Come on, the Vikings. I'm going to go with you there. I just want to roll, roll, roll. Yeah, definitely. We're rolling with Ingvi. Now we, of course, we have, unfortunately, at an absolute horrific time, so this is one I will not be watching live, unfortunately,

[00:29:24] Mexico versus England. I'm blown out there, John, because, you know, this is one I think is on a knife edge. This may just fall to a set piece. What I will say is, I believe if it's 0-0 with 65, 70 minutes to go, England will be done. I think England have to score fast, have to play fast, score early,

[00:29:52] and at least have two goal lead potentially going into 60 minutes, because, as we say, it's 2,300 meters up. Tuchel himself said it's impossible to acclimatize to this. England, again, have had a hard season. A lot of players, you've got the likes of Rice looking like they're carrying knocks as well. I think they have. Benningham being injured for a long season. Yeah, I think from that point of view, the heat, the lack of fans there,

[00:30:21] you know, let's be honest, it's going to be vociferous in terms of the Mexican fans. I did hear Tuchel say the fans have been very respectful, which are, you know, fair play to them, because if it was Scotland, there'd be fireworks and everything going outside the hotel room with England players. But, so fair play to that from Mexico Point. But I think England have to have some sort of a lead by the 60th minute, because I think at that point you will probably see the Mexicans take control. Yes. I'm just going to say Mexico here,

[00:30:50] because I think they have so much more advantages going into this match, the area where this plays, the fans, the fact you've got 80,000 fans behind you, the fact that you know where to play, you know the height, and they have momentum. And, I mean, I wouldn't mind the English going through though, don't get me wrong. No. But I think in this situation, it's an uphill battle for them. And one-on-one they might have better players, but if you can only use those players for 70 minutes before they all burn out,

[00:31:19] I think it's going to be too much. I think substitutions are going to be absolutely key to getting these substitutions correct. England have started off pretty slow in this tournament. I don't think they can in this game. I think they have to come out fast. They have to get, you know, try and quiet the fans down. They always say that, don't they keep it tight the first 15 minutes, but I think they have to somehow find a way to get a couple of goals. With Harry Kane, your team, you've always got the opportunity. But I will say this, John, if England get past Mexico, they'll make it to the final.

[00:31:52] Yeah, I hope so, because else Argentina does. You know, you can't discard the Norwegians if they get through, but I do believe this England team is better than Brazil. I do believe that they're better than Argentina. You know, Argentina's got a hard game coming up, but I do think... No, I agree on all those points, honestly. Yes. And I wouldn't mind seeing France-England something in the finals. We'll see. I would not... The only thing I'd say, John, is the Spanish team, they keep the ball, they keep the ball for fun.

[00:32:21] If you keep the ball off this French team, I think you can potentially frustrate them a little bit. Yes. No, I agree as well. It's going to be interesting. But let's first see if Spain can beat Portugal, shall we? Yeah, we don't want to upset. And to be fair, I have Portugal in my work sweep, so I am really looking forward to hopefully collecting the money. Because certainly in our Discord sweep, I was terrible. I was out in the first round. Yeah, let's not talk about predictions so far. So I said Mexico will win, England will win. So that means England will win.

[00:32:51] I said Norway will win, which means probably best to put your money in Brazil. Yeah, yeah. Talking about money, I got to make some money now. So we're going to be off, but we'll see you tomorrow for 35. Thank you for listening. Bye-bye.
