[00:01:18] not quite with a bang but even so we have had a couple of high priced icon SPC's that

[00:01:23] we're going to evaluate.

[00:01:24] There are a couple of live showdowns still going on we've got our questions in the mail

[00:01:28] back and of course player in review not to mention our main talking boys this week we'll

[00:01:32] be talking about playing without pressure and also the fact that we are six months into

[00:01:38] this game now so we're going to be giving us sort of overall halfway point views and

[00:01:43] reviews so far.

[00:01:44] So without further ado Nathan my friend I'll start with you how are you how are

[00:01:48] things?

[00:01:48] Yeah very good thank you it's been a little while but hopefully we can keep our Tuesday

[00:01:53] team on the go now.

[00:01:55] Been quite enjoying the game for different reasons which I'm sure we'll get into having

[00:02:00] the usual frustrations as well but things are going pretty well thanks.

[00:02:03] Excellent Shack my friend how are you we've just literally come up with the back of recording

[00:02:06] a trading show.

[00:02:08] Exactly I think I'm in trading more I've been trading well I've been looking at the

[00:02:12] market analysing things with the photo market more than I've done what's done then I've

[00:02:16] played the actual game but gameplay wise I've really I have really enjoyed some part of

[00:02:22] the game player because one of the things that we will discuss is how much you and I

[00:02:26] don't know how much we're engaging with the game I think that really is helping it's

[00:02:30] something somewhere is clicked so yeah we'll talk about that.

[00:02:47] Let's start with the showdowns because this is the showdowns promo and of course some

[00:02:52] of the one that have been released since Friday's show have expired GGs if you did Ben

[00:02:56] Chilwell of course Chelsea beating Newcastle those of us doing a kanji were pretty happy

[00:03:02] he got a plus 1 after Liverpool drew with Man City as well that player we're going to

[00:03:07] talk about in player in review but Shack I'll start with the most bizarre one of all and when

[00:03:13] this came out I was sat here thinking have EA actually made a mistake with this one because

[00:03:19] I was like in what competition are what is it Galatasaray going to be playing Al Halal

[00:03:26] exactly and just explain to everybody what this Michael D.A.

[00:03:31] Oliver versus Davison Sanchez is all about.

[00:03:34] Ah it's based not about the clubs playing against each other I think there's an elite

[00:03:42] tournament that's going on where the players representing one of the players will be representing

[00:03:46] Sanchez and one of the players will be representing the Oliveira guy and the winner obviously gets

[00:03:53] upgraded which is really bizarre I think it caught everyone off guard as soon as it saw a

[00:03:58] Saudi league team play against the Turkish team and you just thought what's going on here

[00:04:02] and well the whole crazy things have happened but this is EA FC for you and look it's not

[00:04:10] even players that we care about it I'll be very proud of it it's not even a player that I've looked

[00:04:17] at I'm looking at Sanchez for the first time now one player style why like who I understand if

[00:04:24] you that spurs people might be interested but it's off league off nation why just why yeah I mean

[00:04:33] look if I was being kind Nathan you could look at the fact of if Sanchez is player wins you know he'll

[00:04:39] go to 88 pace which is very good and of course you could then potentially put them through the

[00:04:45] evolution and then you're looking at a player with over 90 defending over 90 physical nearly 80 well

[00:04:52] through the EVO be 80 in dribbling as well so it's not the worst card but you know I know that

[00:04:58] me and Shack have had the conversations off air about we don't want to necessarily bash these

[00:05:02] cards too much because on the surface they're not a terrible card but it's just yeah it's just a bit

[00:05:08] underwhelming I think for any player that's been playing this game for any period of time yeah absolutely

[00:05:13] I mean Sanchez a couple years ago was a very good starter card everybody kind of had his gold is a

[00:05:18] cheap option he looks stat wise he looks fine but I think Shack set the nail on the head like we've

[00:05:24] had some some crack in centerbacks with very good place styles as well whereas Sanchez looks fine

[00:05:31] and he should be decent but without those those traits that he needs he's kind of going to

[00:05:36] fall into the best a little bit of you'll use if you do do him and he gets it when you'll

[00:05:40] use him for a little bit but I think you'll find he's lacking certain areas and you know while

[00:05:45] pace is good and we still see a bit of the through ball meta so your defenders will need that pace to

[00:05:49] recover I don't think it's the be all an end I think the place styles are so much more important

[00:05:55] and like you say the off league off nation it's a draw the positive thing you could say is he's

[00:06:01] only 30k so yeah he's not like the price in you out of doing him and it you know this is the time

[00:06:07] to try new players before if anyone gets into into team of the season has the same card so

[00:06:12] if you want that then fine but it's even 30k I'd rather put 30k into a different SBC to be honest

[00:06:18] I'll just throw it out to you guys oh sorry I'll just throw it out to you guys with Olivera for

[00:06:22] example he's an a three-year squad and an eighty-five-grader squad would you rather do these two

[00:06:27] squads or almost complete the icon SBC oh there's only one option for a brainer isn't that exactly

[00:06:34] just very briefly I'll mark a delvedora I mean look this guy it looks like a drooling wizard

[00:06:39] even without an upgrade you're talking 96 acceleration 94 sprints speed you've got 98 agility

[00:06:44] 99 balance but just everything else about this card is just so bleir composer 84 reactions 81

[00:06:52] can't head the ball shooting in the mid 80s which at this point you're not gonna get him

[00:06:56] and he's got tricks to plus but he's got four star skill moves so it's just a bit of a pointless card

[00:07:02] I don't really want to spend any more time on it than that it's there everyone if you're starting

[00:07:05] a brand new account this week and you want to win a one of Brazilian winger great same with the

[00:07:10] Sanchez if you need to start a sense back otherwise yeah I would just gamble through the icon SBC

[00:07:17] let's move on to the other showdown then that does have a slightly more appealing factor

[00:07:23] it is based around the mnw I can never say the end something about the nwsl I could never say

[00:07:29] it's tripped me up tongue ties me and this the nwsl challenge cup on Saturday night

[00:07:35] it is the Gotham night so I think you've got the best name in football it turns a team names

[00:07:41] against the San Diego wave and just on paper if you were saying who's gonna win the Gotham nights

[00:07:46] or the San Diego wave you'd probably say Gotham nights

[00:07:50] and most people will be wanting the Gotham nights to win just because crystal done is the player

[00:07:55] representing them a very good starter card that a lot of people used at the start of the game

[00:08:00] Shaq 61k for this card you can play right back CDMCM and CAM there's two play styles

[00:08:07] Intercept Plus and Relentless Plus this looks like a cracking card for 60k look this is this is my

[00:08:14] favorite card at the start of the game the more favorite favorite card I had at the start of the

[00:08:18] game and I must admit I completed this card before you even looked at the rating after I

[00:08:23] completed the card I realized she's nearly seven in it card so and look she is incredible in game

[00:08:30] I haven't used this particular shuron one but I've used the gold one and the gold one is

[00:08:35] I'm really looking forward to this if she gets upgraded she will be a phenomenal card

[00:08:40] if you have 60k lying around this is going to be a fun card especially towards the end of the

[00:08:44] game to see love games she's just gonna run around the bit just blocking things up stopping people

[00:08:50] she's got intercept plus Relentless I mean it's pointless because I think she had normal

[00:08:54] Relentless before anywhere so she's always she's always been really really good in game with that

[00:08:58] regard so for me was a complete no brainer I know she doesn't she may not really attract a lot of

[00:09:04] people but complete no brainer and my eyes yeah now if the only way to downside is again the heading on

[00:09:10] this card isn't particularly good otherwise this is again a very very solid midfielder if you've

[00:09:16] missed out on lots of others in the game or you know this is one I think you can pick up and you're

[00:09:23] certainly enjoy yeah I'm very tempted I've got Sophia Smith up front so I'll tie in quite nicely

[00:09:28] with her um the only other thing as well is she's five foot one so you're not gonna get you know

[00:09:35] that those jewels she'll maybe she might feel a bit of a can't take I can't say because I'm not really

[00:09:39] used to but sat wise she she does look excellent she'll zip around the pitch um passons pretty solid

[00:09:46] I'd imagine being the shorts sort of bodies tight those she'll be quite nippy as well so she might

[00:09:50] be able to twist out a few uh a few sort of conundrums uh looks really good um the macaque on

[00:09:56] the other hand almost half the price still looks a good card as a cam but there's just I don't know

[00:10:03] why but I'm just looking at it going should be good but doesn't really draw me in like uh like

[00:10:08] Dun seems to be doing yeah in decisive pass and finesse shot of the two-play style pluses and

[00:10:13] macaque's got and sort of alluded to thinking that Gotham Knights just on the base of their awesome

[00:10:18] team name you'd think might win um however further investigation shows that Gotham Knights have lost

[00:10:24] all four games they've played against the wave by a combined score of 10 to 1 so not particularly

[00:10:33] um in the best place however in recent form Gotham have won their last five games uh whereas the

[00:10:40] wave of only one I think three out of the last five so look there is hope it's a cut fine or

[00:10:45] we all know cut farms anything can happen but just on a purely which out of these two cards that

[00:10:50] I would do I would actually probably lean lean towards macaque because I think without five star

[00:10:57] skill moves to go along with those two play styles I think it's actually a really uh sorry five

[00:11:02] star weakfoot my apologies yeah five star weakfoot doesn't look a really good cam I think we saw um

[00:11:09] what mega repeano could do earlier in the season and a lot of people running that card as a cam

[00:11:13] and again I think this could be similar now again we've I've said many times on the show before

[00:11:19] the only problem with cards like this is that you you almost have to play it as a cam because she's

[00:11:25] not good enough to being out and out striker and she's definitely not strong enough to do a job as

[00:11:31] a box to box shark yeah look I think that's that's the trouble with some of these cards you need to have

[00:11:37] a cam position to get the best out of them and with the finesse plus as well as in size of pass it's just

[00:11:43] suited perfectly for a cam and I think I think you're quite right she's quite an interesting

[00:11:49] card she's got really good play styles and um in the midfieler I'm just looking at it she's got 92

[00:11:54] strengths so in the midfield you could get away with it but her defensive stats are

[00:12:00] horrific so yeah just five four as well no I think just player a scam but you'll get the best out

[00:12:08] of her bubbling her a scam I think again I think the 34,000 coins again this card could if it's

[00:12:15] Sunday away if win which the formguide would suggest that they would again you pay a 35k for a card

[00:12:21] that comes with 89 and then you know it's probably going to be worth more than that in fodder in

[00:12:25] the long term so it's interesting one to do this is the kind of showdown that I actually really like

[00:12:30] because again it's two very affordable cards it's two certainly usable cards you can argue certainly

[00:12:34] they're not going to be meta but you compare them to Sanchez and Diolverea and it's you know night and

[00:12:39] day these are two cards that you could quite easily get into a team and play I think you can get away

[00:12:45] with either those cards once once upgraded I should say whichever one wins I think they both do

[00:12:50] need the upgrade to be usable but again this is what I think the showdown should be cheap available

[00:12:55] and could be decent if they win and especially with that evo giving them that plus one extra as well

[00:13:00] I think it's worth having a gamble on one or either of them and then staying up late into the night

[00:13:05] to watch the Sanchez away against the Gotham Knights and speaking of things that are worth doing

[00:13:11] let's move to the other side of the coin naith two icons SPCs that have been released

[00:13:16] neither well both of which were very hyped and are both definitely very meta both of them heavily

[00:13:23] downloaded just because of the price we said Lev Yashin's winter well card sent about card be

[00:13:29] released and Jazeenio's and Thunderstruck icon is well be released so they have given us the best

[00:13:35] version of these two cards naith but the price is just putting so many people off yeah I mean

[00:13:40] like Yashin at the moment is on these 1.7 on console 1.43 on PC she's quite quite hefty to be honest

[00:13:50] I've heard mixed things about him his stats wise it suggests he should be good all those

[00:13:55] quite a difference in the peace split as well but we've just talked about a kanji and know that

[00:14:02] is expired now but if you did the kanji train then it's night and day for me it's you know a third

[00:14:07] of the price I just think that Yashin while he'll be good and he wears his hat in game I don't

[00:14:13] know whether that's a good or bad thing but he's also wears hat as a center back so none of them are

[00:14:18] drawn for me I was lucky enough to pull Jazeenio the base version so it's on the sort of one point

[00:14:24] less I think it was in 89 but he's not he's not the the Jazeenio that we had last year where he was

[00:14:30] in people's teams for five months or whatever I don't know whether that's because it's a different

[00:14:35] part of the game he came into but again I'm probably sounding a bit of a Debbie down here but

[00:14:39] neither of these are making me go out and say I need to go and complete these I think it was a bit

[00:14:45] like the chill well at SBC we've had lots of players in very similar positions as well so that's

[00:14:51] kind of not really enticing in my opinion I think we need a little bit more variety and Jazeenio

[00:14:56] just seems really really dull and not the player himself but the fact we had that Jazeen you'll

[00:15:02] last year like how many icons do we have out this there must be what 40 odd icons or something you

[00:15:06] can use why don't they just rotate them and I know some aren't usable but they can juice the stats

[00:15:10] and make them you know a showdown version or something but it just seems very lazy that we're

[00:15:16] getting rehashed SBC again yeah I should say sorry it's the Surnurian's icon version not the thunder

[00:15:21] struck all backgrounds just blend into one I can never tell the difference shack yeah too many

[00:15:26] because look we just recorded the the training show as I mentioned and the big one of the things

[00:15:31] that we were talking about is these these whole one play style plus meta players and I think both

[00:15:37] of these guys just fit into that because they've only got one play style plus they're just going to

[00:15:42] be so quickly outpaced by everything that's coming from now on why would you want to pour all of

[00:15:48] that resource or all of that grind into either of these two players exactly exactly I think one of

[00:15:54] the things that I that really I think with Jazeen a lot of people actually mentioned of him being

[00:15:59] a really good guy I've never tried this Jazeen guy to set it back but one of the things I've just

[00:16:04] recently noticed a couple of seconds ago was that he's got some really interesting stats

[00:16:08] from the dribbling category this is a center back right 98 agility 94 balance 99 reactions 98

[00:16:17] composure that's pretty unique I just for a big tall center back to do that yeah it's just

[00:16:25] he could be good in game I don't think any either of us any of us have tried him in game he could

[00:16:30] be good in game but because we had a kanji that came out roughly at the same time that really dulled

[00:16:36] the whole presence of Jazeen coming out I don't think I think had a kanji not been released as an

[00:16:41] SBC at least one of us on this spot would have considered doing Jazeen just to try him out and

[00:16:46] because of a kanji Jazeen just is yeah redundant in my opinion yeah especially with Naldini

[00:16:53] that we've had recently as well I think if you didn't have that maldini that's in probably you

[00:16:58] know 90% of teams at the moment although it's a nice shiny new card and it could be slightly better

[00:17:03] but I think if you've done an SBC like that you're not really wanting to put you know one and half

[00:17:08] the two million into another player that's not really going to elevate your game you know from

[00:17:14] nine wins to 14 wins or whatever and we can leave go ever yeah and the big thing that's damn

[00:17:19] familiar enthusiasm for these icons more than anything else is there a repeatable grind that we

[00:17:23] have out of the mount of course you got best of impacts as well so you got some GC cards to go for

[00:17:27] which one of us has packed one of the big guns this week we'll go on to that later those in the

[00:17:32] video show will be able to see exactly who is smiling the biggest right now and we'll get into

[00:17:37] that later but you've got this repeatable icon pack that is out that requires an 83 84 85

[00:17:42] right squad you do it as many times as you want yes it's garbage and it's feeding us garbage but

[00:17:47] we're all addicts the casino so we're all going through it I've done seven and I've got absolutely

[00:17:52] nothing but will I do seven more probably yes and there's also a hero pick out which gives you an

[00:17:59] 87 plus and base heroes are out of it so you can just get potentially some of the better cards

[00:18:05] again I've done one of them and I got I think centurions version of Joe Cole I might do another

[00:18:11] one as well before the end of the week but yeah shackle mean when you've got the options of doing all

[00:18:16] of these continuously and the 83 tens and the player picks something like that that's why people

[00:18:22] so focused on grinding the higher rated cards as well I haven't seen a lot of genilers I'm certainly

[00:18:26] not seeing any jazignees or yashin either exactly I think we had a discussion where if you ask me

[00:18:32] was before genalala came out I was really strongly in the I'm musket genalala camp and then I saw

[00:18:39] the SPC we discussed this last week as well then we saw the SPC and we were like nah I'm not really

[00:18:44] going to grind that hard and probably a sensible move because there's so many other things to do

[00:18:48] there's so many other cards to do in the same time that I were taking me to complete genalala I did

[00:18:53] Werner I did a congeal I've actually used them in gamblers I'll still be grinding to genalala right now

[00:18:57] so so many things to get done which is why I think we've just ignored the cards like yashin

[00:19:03] jazignee we've just so many other smaller species to get done and repeatable grinders really full

[00:19:09] on right now I think if you really have the time and you really have the the grind in you

[00:19:14] you can literally spend 24 hours grinding on this game right now and just be exactly the same

[00:19:19] going position as you were at the start yeah I mean now that you're enjoying the menus at the moment

[00:19:24] yeah I am I've not got into it as heavy as you guys have by any man I remains but I've

[00:19:29] done a number of the icon SPCs I've had one I'd say it's a decent pull without being top I've got

[00:19:36] the green Fernando Torres with the five star skill moves so that's different so I've not given

[00:19:42] them a shot yet but you know I'm the same as you guys I like the packs I like opening the

[00:19:46] here the icons so I'd much rather do that there's there's a lot to do and you know I'm taking your

[00:19:52] leads on some of the methods of grinding because I'm not the the league SPCs are just annoying me

[00:19:56] right now to be honest so trying to get the grind going for that the 80 plus SPC that's just come out

[00:20:02] to annoying me as well because they all seem to be eight eases coming out of that for you just now

[00:20:06] but I can't grumble because at the start of the week while I start the promo I was getting

[00:20:10] high rated in promo cards left right in center so I may have got the fire name

[00:20:22] our within about the first three eight you won plus play apex but I can't that one that pack was

[00:20:27] like two promo cards and one of them is name iron another one was Caribbean it was but it's

[00:20:31] another like high rated it wasn't a very good one but I can't believe he actually came out with

[00:20:36] packing name I said I don't know if he fits into the team what freaking demon are you playing with

[00:20:41] no name it felt very balanced I managed to somehow win a bit for her own go up to death one so

[00:20:50] it just felt so balanced but name iron is price wise you've just got to learn to use them don't

[00:20:54] you no look I'll tell you what there's so many cards that have come out and all of them

[00:20:58] I just got the single play style but every time even in the past couple days I come up against him

[00:21:03] if the guy knows how to use that name our card he's so hard to get the ball off so hard to get the ball

[00:21:08] off yeah incredibly incredibly nippy does any sort this glitchy mess where you just kind of just

[00:21:15] just three which three people in one turn which is tremendous especially when when you like me

[00:21:19] in dental test if I do like to wiggle the trick stick not really know what I'm doing but I do

[00:21:23] like to overdo it so he's very good to keep an hold of it I've got two questions for you lads because

[00:21:28] both of you are blessed touched by the gods of pack luck messy team of the year or name

[00:21:35] our which ones more fun to use and get more effective in game I defer to nath because nath is

[00:21:40] used both because we played co-op and he gets to use my messy and that so I'll leave this one

[00:21:44] today because I've not used nath so I would say that the mess is probably slightly different gravy

[00:21:51] still and nema with the five star week foot is definitely a big bonus because there's a couple

[00:21:55] times especially yesterday either it didn't quite go where we wanted it to or we kind of had to check

[00:22:01] back I want not so it totally depends to be honest they're both phenomenal and they are both really

[00:22:08] really similar players the they're not the most electric players in the world but you'll you start

[00:22:12] learning how to do them and that they are phenomenal but if you're playing co-op and Dan says messy

[00:22:17] do messy then it's kind of like Dan put your controller down because I'm either going to lose the

[00:22:21] ball shoots stupidly or trying to keep the keeper and that's why I love playing co-op with you

[00:22:27] I should say as well my jute theory struck massively this week as I pulled the team of the

[00:22:31] weak messy which is now just premium premium fodder he's not cheap he's not cheap is he

[00:22:38] he's about 900k I think maybe that's a premium fodder I got him out of exchange and the exchange

[00:22:45] could be where he ends up so oh no no no that's what I like tick tock for flak stony we're just like

[00:22:55] yeah he's a bit team of the weak messy in there I've got a question for you oh grind king

[00:23:00] I've seen a lot of things on on on next letting us know the best effective way most effective way

[00:23:05] to grind and there's one one camp that says do all the non-regals and put them into play picks

[00:23:10] and then play picks into icon in the team theme of the weak SPC blower blower and I've seen

[00:23:15] another camp that said just ignore the play picks and stick the league SPCs and I'm starting to realize

[00:23:21] I'm starting to see the light here and I think league SPCs are probably the way to go it's so

[00:23:28] there is no debate on this if you look at it from a what is going to be the best way to preserve

[00:23:33] coins and make coins and build up your club fodder wise it's league SPCs and it's not even close the

[00:23:39] big downside is that it's not as glamorous it takes more time and that's basically it that is the

[00:23:45] if you're after the quick hits and trying to pull the best players and just literally go through

[00:23:52] the grinding just go through the casino grind over and over again just stick to player picks and

[00:23:56] use the exchanges and stuff like that and you'll be absolutely fine but look if you do want to preserve

[00:24:00] your club keep it building up and possibly make some coins more importantly you have to go

[00:24:05] through the league SPCs because you get two tradable packs within them and also you can then

[00:24:09] filter those cards into the team of the weak upgrade they have some tradable packs as well it just

[00:24:14] increases your chance to make because at the moment if you pulled one team of the weak from doing

[00:24:20] a league SPC that's tradable boom you've made 45k straight out of the bat not to mention any of the

[00:24:25] other glamorous cars like you know you may strike and get a name are an icon something like that so

[00:24:31] they guess what you've got the patience but it just takes more time Shaq so it's all a case of

[00:24:36] look are you looking for a quick 30 minutes to try and get something big or are you after keeping

[00:24:41] your club intact. Look I've been doing the daily gold upgrade and ending up at the icon and that

[00:24:47] literally takes me over 30 minutes and within 30 minutes I don't have a single common gold in my club

[00:24:52] and I'm done but if I do the same thing and when the league SPC way I could probably grind the whole day

[00:24:58] yeah exactly that's the key difference that's the key difference exactly now look we are going to

[00:25:04] take a short ad break now for the of course if you are one of our patreon members you won't be

[00:26:25] let's get into part two of today's show and as we've just had our halfway ad break we're going to be

[00:26:30] talking about the halfway point of FC 24 with our shack when you know John asked I said what are

[00:26:36] you guys going to be talking about on this week's show I was actually scratching my head a little

[00:26:39] bit because I was thinking what can we talk about really and then I realized that well actually

[00:26:43] we're in March now where you know the game was released in September so we're kind of halfway

[00:26:48] through this whole game cycle now and you know you know I've been talking you know for years now

[00:26:54] we've gone through our first shares of of E8 football game titles what are you thinking about FC 24

[00:27:00] at the halfway point you know I yeah just what are you thinking about it look one of the things is

[00:27:08] E8 has found a really effective way to make people like you maybe even nath

[00:27:14] not grind as hard anymore which is great I think I'm seeing the light that actually it's

[00:27:17] probably a positive thing for all of us because we spent a whole lot of time on this game

[00:27:23] there's a whole lot of content available there's there's unless you want to there's unlimited

[00:27:26] content available there's good cards there's amazing cards there's there's brand new things happening

[00:27:32] it is a pro every single week so the it's quite engaging it is quite engaging in one way but another way

[00:27:39] I think a lot of something feels like nothing at the end if that makes sense I think that's where

[00:27:45] I'm at it I just feel like there's a lot happening there's a lot going on that someone like me

[00:27:50] who's very tweaked into the ecosystem is still finding it hard to understand exactly what's going

[00:27:56] on exactly what E8 was coming out exactly which player players are coming out which SPC's being

[00:28:02] released constantly and there's all the mistakes as well missing on that so it's a funny funny

[00:28:07] funny year where I think I'm kind of grateful for E8 for leading us to this path because

[00:28:12] it's finally gotten the hold off me where I can just we'll lead into the next subject as well

[00:28:18] we're talking about playing without pressure I can finally I think this is just for the past two

[00:28:22] three days I've actually played without pressure and played without care and I'll be frankly honest

[00:28:27] you have actually enjoyed the game without having any pressure or care and that's something that's

[00:28:31] happened just this year never happened in the past because I used to do everything want to grind

[00:28:37] everything want to do everything want to complete all the objectives want to get that

[00:28:40] 8900 objective players so that I can complete an SPC at someone in town that'll be useful

[00:28:45] couldn't kill us anymore and that's really helpful. Now, Ithware are you because you've had a bit of

[00:28:49] a more unique perspective this year of course you took some time out around Christmas time so you've

[00:28:54] not had this continuous grind from September what's your relationship with the game like as being

[00:28:59] next up head into the middle of March. Yeah, it's it's mechs to be honest I'm enjoying it like

[00:29:06] the servers over the last few weeks have actually got worse for me which I've never really

[00:29:09] complained about the servers but I've had few issues with that the one thing that I'll say it's

[00:29:14] good and bad is that we've got some tremendous players released from from E8 and very attainable

[00:29:20] your SPC's and your grind. This however annoys me as well because you used to grind so hard

[00:29:26] you can get the best team whereas what I've felt now is you know I had what six weeks I messed

[00:29:31] up something like that started a whole new account on a different console and my teams probably

[00:29:36] up there with the top you know few percentage you know I'm not saying it's the best team ever

[00:29:41] but it's also very competitive and apart from getting the big team of the years which people

[00:29:47] probably do fork out a lot of money for it's not really behind the curve so it's very

[00:29:52] frustrating though because everyone's got because the only way that we've been able to improve teams

[00:29:56] are really these SPCs when you're playing teams you're getting everyone's got Kaffoo everybody's

[00:30:01] got Maldini everyone's got Hullet a lot of people still got that Bruno from team of the year flashback

[00:30:08] majority have you sabote so that while it's good that it's making these players attainable and

[00:30:14] you know you've got something to grind for I just find it is a little bit repetitive and a little

[00:30:17] bit annoying the fact that every team like we're in dev 1 now Dan and Shaq sir I'm not too familiar

[00:30:23] what division you're in but everyone's got a God squad and even dev 5 see that's probably

[00:30:28] the best way to do but even in dev 5 I bet you're coming up against absolute God squad's like

[00:30:31] God squad's God squad's everything on game yeah and half of me is like it's really good because

[00:30:36] you at least you get to play with one place but other part of me is like there's there's very little

[00:30:40] reward for grinding it if you want to so you know I'm enjoying that as you play in it and you

[00:30:46] know co-op this year's been phenomenal I've really enjoyed crossplay co-op with yourself Dan

[00:30:52] and with John but I just think there's something it's just something lacking and Shaq you've

[00:30:58] probably hit the nail on the head there that this you know you can kind of you don't have to do

[00:31:01] every grind because you know you can choose your time if you want a grind in three weeks time

[00:31:06] really hard for a week you'll still probably make up the difference that you've you've left

[00:31:10] probably a lot quicker than you have in any other iteration yeah absolutely agree with you both

[00:31:15] I think as as Shaq said it's great the EA of kind of got the game to a point where your team is

[00:31:21] so good that you don't feel the need to go out like I didn't play rivals for three weeks and

[00:31:26] ordinarily I'd have been over the last three years I'd be sitting there going oh I need the

[00:31:30] rewards I need them I need the cards I don't need them I can do that this menu grind without them

[00:31:37] just as easily and they have shown us throughout the entire year now that your chance of actually

[00:31:42] packing anything good in your rewards is non-existent so it's taken away that pressure which will

[00:31:48] come on to of having to feel like you have to do this you have to do that I've gone to a mostly

[00:31:53] weekend league and playoffs schedule with the odd squad battle just thrown into if I need to take off

[00:31:58] an objective or get an evo done and it's been really good look I think the worst thing about

[00:32:03] this game is the store I think EA have gone so hard on the store packs it's I mean what we've

[00:32:09] just said in what a 750k pack out in the store this week that gets you four guaranteed icons or

[00:32:15] heroes it's it's it's not a pay to win game but it's a pay to make your life so much easier game

[00:32:23] and I don't like the way it's going I hate that so that they put so much care into as Adam was saying

[00:32:29] on the show of the week the the tiddly wink micro mega star super pack in the store but yet they let

[00:32:35] moments with her and die they they they they they've honed in super honed in on what's going to make

[00:32:43] the money which is I've said for three years hosting this show I understand it's a business

[00:32:47] but the lack of care they've given stuff around the edges of this game has been poor I think the

[00:32:52] gameplay has been okay I don't think it's been as horrific as some people have said but I also

[00:32:57] don't think it's addictive in itself like I think of the amount of times I'm able to send somebody

[00:33:02] a clip of a great goal life scored and okay maybe that's a skill issue from me but there just

[00:33:07] seems so much fewer ways to score it's just repetitive it's patterned and that includes the menus

[00:33:13] as well everything has been very patterned and it's very predictable and as Shaka said that's great

[00:33:17] because it actually lets you step away now because you realize as they said you just come back at any

[00:33:23] point and you'll build a team up Napenta has put out a six hour RTG the day and he got it to 11 wins

[00:33:29] a net a bow to my net was saying I've only hit 14 wins for my main team I think he said like three

[00:33:33] times or yeah it's so easy to get a competitive squad the gameplay is just there and I said they've

[00:33:40] let everything else around the edges with her and die just that there's no care the cut mode they

[00:33:46] put out the other week was a real outlier and I think it the fact that everyone was loving it

[00:33:51] showed what this company is capable of if they actually think about the community and try and do

[00:33:57] something interesting and I'm hoping that maybe that trend will continue as we head towards the last

[00:34:01] six months of this game but yeah the first six months has been lazy very very store packed driven

[00:34:08] and the gameplay has just not really been there but for saying all of that I have been still playing

[00:34:15] game engaging with her and so therefore I think I mean what would you guys give it at 10 because right

[00:34:21] now I think I'm probably a 5.5 maybe six depending on how my form is I mean they're at six or five

[00:34:31] Nate I deeply want to say a three but in reality it's a six I think it's a six where if you

[00:34:39] put everything be everything into comparison take it for what it is it's a six but one of the things

[00:34:43] I really love that you touched upon the repetitiveness and the pattern gameplay as well as grind

[00:34:49] that's the part that really gets me because it's really good stuff but it's exactly the same stuff

[00:34:53] over and over and over again which is why it's yeah but we're still doing it's that's why it's a six

[00:34:58] for me. Nice yeah I'm sex pushing towards seven I'm still enjoying it I'm still playing I'm still

[00:35:04] playing regularly I have my frustrations I really wish the EA would do more care and like like

[00:35:12] you said we appreciate their business and they've got to make the money but you know sometimes

[00:35:16] that companies can can can do that without being so obvious it's so in your face and you sort of

[00:35:22] from you know it wasn't even the full launch the pre-launch or doing those ridiculous store packs

[00:35:28] where there was 100 golds or whatever it was you know like just just be a little bit more subtle

[00:35:32] because people in this game like they've shown over the years they will go to the store like

[00:35:37] it's inevitable but what I've found for myself is when I've had that urge I've actually just thought

[00:35:42] like oh I just need to get three more wins and I get a 84 times term which will actually even if

[00:35:47] I get 10804 as it'll probably do better than those massive store packs anyway so I think they're

[00:35:53] I'm not across the board because the figure showed that they are making a lot of money

[00:35:56] but they're also driving some people away from the store with how they're doing it you know

[00:36:01] I would have been more likely to do it if it was once a month they put a jump like a giant packout

[00:36:05] I probably would have been a lot more time to use coins or points whereas because it's literally

[00:36:10] everyday they were refreshing it and I just think well that's just pure greed and even little things

[00:36:16] like you know we've spoken about it in the past they've changed like Markey matchups at times

[00:36:20] did it untradable the the ESBCs are untradable everything's untradable there I'm like that's

[00:36:25] that's just a bit you know scrooge like and taking away Silver Star Silver Star was you know

[00:36:30] you play maybe five games get you three wins I loved that just for a little bit it gave you a reason

[00:36:34] to have silver's apart from you know for these upgrade grinds of if I want to wear another and

[00:36:39] like you said the Cup mode the Cup mode was amazing and it's actually put back in my head now

[00:36:43] right we're getting these promo cards the last one was 87 can't really discard usable 85s upwards

[00:36:49] to be honest I've not even really put them into ESBCs unless they're you know if they're a gold

[00:36:53] they'll probably come around but these promo cards like I am I'm just keeping these in the

[00:36:56] pack in this club now just in case we get a really cool game mode and I'm like actually if I

[00:37:00] keep that 85 rated centre half that still got you know 88 dribbling 88 defense and 88 pace

[00:37:07] then actually you won't do me on my team but you'll do these objectives so that's a good thing

[00:37:11] but they just need to kind of hone in on that a little bit more instead of just being so business

[00:37:16] oriented yeah and just be a bit more consistent with some of the as I said things like that Cup

[00:37:21] mode have have more fun cups have Goldie wars have mark you know squad cap ratings have silver

[00:37:28] cups have things like they're just different things and an evos as well ever since that this whole

[00:37:33] kind of evo chaining thing has been exposed and we talked about it you know last week shack and

[00:37:38] then finally enough they released a decent evo with seconds of us ranting about it on the show

[00:37:43] which is just typical timing but even since then I think they they just not releasing evos

[00:37:48] and the points I made last week remain the same if you're new to this game if I had to start

[00:37:52] and convince somebody to come back to it to FC 24 that may be played like I know 521 22 on before

[00:37:59] that what would you sell the game to them on because I couldn't sell them on the gameplay I couldn't

[00:38:04] sell them to say oh my god it's so every game is hilarious it's fun scoring great goals the adiada

[00:38:10] I can you know you might sell them on the fact are there so many cards you know it's great then

[00:38:14] the content is up there you know there's a menu grind after your menu grinding you'll love it

[00:38:18] come back and do this but like if I try to sell someone an evo's they'd turn up and go well

[00:38:24] what can I do there's about two for me to do yet they're quite happy to give you the same crappy icon

[00:38:31] once twice yeah the evil thing the evil thing will be greatly improved if they let you just go

[00:38:38] like instead of expiring them fair enough some of them are behind a table which is annoying but

[00:38:42] you can understand it but you know somebody picking up the yeah well that's it like somebody picking

[00:38:47] up now there's a way that you could have got a really good gun at your good Kobe minor who's not

[00:38:51] so good now but obviously if you do that and they bring out a new one in the in the future I'd love

[00:38:56] to go back and just do a full man United evil on my own pace rather than like like grain that or

[00:39:00] even a brownford one for myself but that that would be a win like and that would transfer

[00:39:05] from evos from being met to be an adj this is a really cool feature yeah I think with the

[00:39:10] as you mentioned that last week with the evos it probably scared and I'll give you why a real reason

[00:39:17] I came across I just remembered this I came across a rechallicin I think yesterday we're all

[00:39:21] playing champs and there's this rechallicin had four play styles hmm I swear to god he felt better

[00:39:28] than on and I was impossible to stop I don't even remember what play styles he had I was just

[00:39:33] stunned that I saw four play styles on a card that I was just trying to understand the permutations

[00:39:38] to actually get that card and he was incredible any kept doing that stupid celebration after scoring

[00:39:43] and he scored quite a lot of goals but that's what I think EA is worried about is creating these

[00:39:48] random cards that turn out to be way better than any card they can actually release in packs

[00:39:52] which is why they're being really slow on the on the evil release and that's shut they're making

[00:39:57] billions they're making billions it's just such a bad excuse that they can't find a way to close

[00:40:04] the door on this they're literally selling this pack for 35 pounds each and I've seen god knows

[00:40:10] how many of them opened like investing somebody to be able to do yeah you could put one person

[00:40:16] on this problem and again I said this last week they're leaving money on the table with these evos

[00:40:20] because I would be spending probably FC points on them and I'm sure thousands of other players

[00:40:26] that have low elite teams and different evos they want to do would be as well and they're leaving

[00:40:31] on the table so I think it's garbage but I take your point that that is a very real concern but

[00:40:38] I just don't think it's good enough that they sit there and use that as an excuse absolutely

[00:40:43] completely agree I think with regards to leaving money in the table one of the things that's

[00:40:48] really struck me this week was the fact that you remember during team of the year when we had

[00:40:52] the discussion and we're looking at the team of the year cards and they were they were really low

[00:40:56] and they were getting a lot of 84 into 10 repeatable tradable cards that were coming out as promo packs

[00:41:00] and we thought oh there's going to be a whole lot when the whole team is in packs and we all

[00:41:04] expected the prices to go down and as soon as all the cards came into packs we didn't have a single one

[00:41:09] of those lighting grounds where we had the 84 into 10 tradable packs alright we didn't have any

[00:41:15] of those packs all along until this weekend this weekend we had all those tradable supply packs

[00:41:21] available in in in the store and what quizzes me what I'm confused about why don't these release

[00:41:29] these sorts of things during the time where people would actually spend some money to pack one

[00:41:33] of those cards and release it now and it didn't sell out I think I looked at some of them it didn't

[00:41:37] even sell out this weekend so it's almost like they they they know when to not take the money because

[00:41:44] it actually they have some they have some clear science there with regards to evo as well

[00:41:48] I'm sure they have some science behind exactly how when to release certain things when they

[00:41:52] because I remember when you've been the centurions evo came out of the start of the game I think each

[00:41:56] and every one of us completed the centurions evolution I think every single player in the game wanted to

[00:42:00] get there the lorente or some people wanted to get the cheer many added the cheer many stupidly

[00:42:05] but there's a lot of people that actually spent other in game currency all bought FC points so they

[00:42:10] know how to play that particular game to get the money through and the store was store is a really

[00:42:15] good example not providing a single 80 point to 10 tradable supply pack all along from team with the

[00:42:21] edel now and then suddenly open it up open the floodgates now it's just weird but there's science to

[00:42:26] it yeah gonna EA so that's just very quickly and talk about playing without pressure I think to be

[00:42:31] honest we've kind of covered it in the discussions we've had in the first sort of 40 minutes of this show

[00:42:36] in the again it's it's rejuvenated my enjoyment of the game just playing a bit more casual with

[00:42:42] you Nathan playing a bit co-op and also like you said shack just having that mentality of

[00:42:48] I think I can finally play the game not for rewards because I know that the rewards are certainly

[00:42:53] an incentive still but I no longer have that phomo factor of if I miss a week and row is if I miss

[00:42:59] a week and the I'm getting my team is going to fall behind because quite frankly your team just

[00:43:03] doesn't fall behind anymore shack exactly exactly I'll give you an example this champs

[00:43:09] I played nine games precisely five four and I stopped I probably could have pushed and created

[00:43:16] another hour to play and I just stopped because I wanted to do other things and I thought you know

[00:43:20] what I couldn't be bothered never got back to it I left it at five four and I got the 24 point whatever

[00:43:26] we whatever milestone at 24 points I just stopped there one more win few more free wins to people

[00:43:32] are going to go into the next rank up couldn't be bothered just couldn't be bothered and that's a huge

[00:43:37] shift in my mentality because before the maybe the two month ago me would have tried to grind from

[00:43:44] the five wins to the six wins once I get to the six wins I'll be like let me just push to the

[00:43:47] nine wins once I got to the nine wins let me just push to the 11 wins and get nothing in the end so

[00:43:52] at least there's some mentality change in that pressureless playing was actually fun I had I got

[00:43:58] shafted by Richalice and those kind of cards but didn't stop me I just still had fun

[00:44:02] yeah and Nathan you do you think you were in a better sort of place a relationship with this game

[00:44:08] yeah 100% I mean it is challenging I quite like the challenging rivals I'm more of a rivals in

[00:44:14] the cup and in a squad battles type person juiceed my time restraints and availability

[00:44:19] rivals are taking a different mindset where you know last year it was always had to be a elite this

[00:44:25] year I actually couldn't care I think I want it to be I think I said I want to be Div 3 I think

[00:44:29] there were awards change at Div 3 whether actually decent Div 2's good when you get the 84 times 10

[00:44:34] and then we were saying yesterday I'm looking at Div 2 and Div 1 rewards there's pretty much no

[00:44:38] difference so Div 1 isn't there by design that was there by pure fluke of of chaining a win streak

[00:44:44] together not realizing that won a game and then it accidentally put me up so yeah I mean I

[00:44:52] it's hard because you want to be in a decent division and we were saying in that last game for

[00:44:56] your promotion yesterday like we didn't want you didn't really want to win but the same time we're

[00:45:01] one ill-oportunal or whatever it was and then we're like if we blow this now like our competitive side of us

[00:45:07] so it's not really pressure from out with but obviously there's still competitive nature that's

[00:45:11] why we still play the game we wouldn't play if there wasn't that side of things so I'm in a good

[00:45:15] place with it to be honest and I still get annoyed like I would if something doesn't go right but

[00:45:19] at the same time after the game's done I'll not sit in stew I'll not you know throw things or

[00:45:23] go in bad moods it's just it is what it is plays so there's a lot of plays out there much better than

[00:45:28] me I'm better than certain players that we come up against yes and one of the things without

[00:45:32] pressure when I took my time off sort of Christmas time what I did is I unfold a hell of a lot of

[00:45:38] people on social media I still have you know my favourite accounts that have all FIFA related stuff but

[00:45:43] I used to have thousands on Twitter and Instagram with just pure FIFA pages I unfold a lot of them

[00:45:50] and only follow like the good guys now if you like and that makes a big difference because when I

[00:45:54] log on you're not just getting all these people I just like oh my god I've got this player I've

[00:45:58] got that player I've packed that and then I think oh I've got to do that SPC I've got to get that

[00:46:01] pack like it's now so much more chill and I think that side of things as well really helps the

[00:46:06] the pressure not so much the actual playing but just the being on the game in one way shape before

[00:46:11] can I ask both of you and division two division one when you play friendly are you finding

[00:46:17] the competition to be the same quality as you're playing in your rivals or is it higher or are you

[00:46:24] finding match playing like it's like it's easy to be honest yeah and that in that cup we had a

[00:46:29] couple of weeks ago it was the AE semi-reality that's exactly yeah I blitzed through that the first week

[00:46:35] I think I had two game sessions or three game sessions or something and obviously I played the

[00:46:38] rest because you had the whole you had to play three so I just gave those wins away in case people

[00:46:42] needed them but I generally found it fairly fairly straightforward like you said you still you

[00:46:48] always come up against a demon or two like that is FIFA for you but I actually found it fairly

[00:46:53] straightforward I found it harder in the first few days the mode was out because that's when you have

[00:46:58] everyone who's really good and really wants those rewards desperately they're the ones that are out

[00:47:03] but then once the first kind of week was over I then found it quite easy to polish things off

[00:47:08] but yeah you do run into as Nayset the odd demon but generally it's okay but it certainly

[00:47:14] nowhere near what it was when it was open back to making and you would stroll through these cups

[00:47:18] and swaps and stuff in in the space for an hour is there's definitely a skill based element

[00:47:25] to it and you do have to work harder but yeah I don't think it's appalling.

[00:47:30] Well on that one so just take on just on that the best thing about that though

[00:47:34] is because it wasn't limited so it wasn't five games a day that makes a hell of a difference

[00:47:38] because people aren't going super sweaty you see people are trying new things people are clearly

[00:47:43] trying new formations because you know the players aren't exactly where you'd expect them to be

[00:47:46] and obviously it's different different cards they're using so that is a big win I know we've

[00:47:51] slated EA quite a bit today but that is you know even if they were to make it a sweaty mode but

[00:47:55] have it uncapped games that would be tremendous and that you see people's mentality shift from being

[00:48:01] ratty and sweaty to actually just playing the game to you're fair enough you want the reward

[00:48:05] of the pack of the token but it makes a big difference just being able to go right this case better

[00:48:10] than me that's fine I'm not going to be bothered. Yeah exactly right we will get to a very quick

[00:48:15] player and review very shortly but we do have a question in the mail bag today and that comes from

[00:48:19] the King of the North Invy he asks is the pack weight in all time low this week can't seem to pack

[00:48:24] more than one during the fancy promo I got loads I'll take this one first and just because I said

[00:48:29] this to you shack before we are on air the reason for that for me in V is if you look at the cards

[00:48:35] they've released look at the drop weight they had when they were originally impacts because you never

[00:48:40] saw anybody packing them when they were regularly impacts so why I can't imagine they've changed their

[00:48:46] weight is my theory behind it which is why the only players most were seen to be seeing is I just see

[00:48:52] fire is go I think I've seen them like four times and that's the only card I've seen I know Nate you

[00:48:57] also had that outlier with name up but I mean chaps any thoughts on pack weight shack now you're

[00:49:03] pretty spot on there I mean for example like usually what happens when cards could re-released

[00:49:08] you see a card like name up when he was at 5.3 million last week I expected him to go half

[00:49:14] not half price maybe around 3 million he's circling around 4.3 4.4 million right now from 5.2

[00:49:20] so he's not really had that much supply well there's outliers like Nathan back to him but the

[00:49:25] supply isn't as strong as it should be and that's a clear indicator of what's happening with

[00:49:30] the cards right now they just got the same back weight as they had when they were back when they

[00:49:34] were in first released yeah I mean the one exception is daily alley who I think any time

[00:49:41] right the dinner is I think I've had him seven times now but they caveat with that and you know

[00:49:46] the name I was like the day one of the promo on a silly eight one plus player pick so that

[00:49:51] that wasn't something I was even thinking there's a chance of getting but you know the three of

[00:49:55] us I think have grounded the menus fairly hard this week because it's you know it's been easy to

[00:50:02] so I've packed quite a lot of promo cards but I'll caveat that with I have grounded and opened a hell

[00:50:07] of a lot of packs so comparatively speaking it's probably a still very very low but I'm seeing more

[00:50:14] because I'm doing this you know the player pick grind and you know foolishly I spent about 150K

[00:50:20] yesterday on rodery just so I could put them into the exchange just to feed the feed the pack

[00:50:24] habit as well so yeah I think it's still very low although I'm not seeing it personally the last

[00:50:31] couple of days have been a lot lower the start of the promo I was getting a lot more and you know

[00:50:36] every few packs was getting some sort of crappy promo cards but yeah yesterday today I've had some big

[00:50:41] packs from the the objectives and I'm not seeing anything higher than 84 just now yeah I do think

[00:50:47] is it an all-time low I just think that this is pretty much the way we've been seeing for most of

[00:50:51] the promo and again just consider the fact that most of the cards are best off their best from their

[00:50:57] promos and that's probably reason why it seems low yeah I don't think it's an all-time

[00:52:00] don't do it you are going to regret it in a few weeks time I think it is that much of a must-do

[00:52:11] I have a player that unfortunately has expired and the SPC has expired rather not the player

[00:52:16] themselves but basically uh this is Akanji manual Akanji I think this is a card that I reluctantly did

[00:52:24] just maybe few hours before the SPC expired and is phenomenal in game I think I was talking about

[00:52:29] the 1890 the non-upcreated card himself was phenomenal had amazing pace really good really good

[00:52:34] play styles really good in game great passing amazing passing at when he was just able to get

[00:52:40] out of tricky situations competitive for when Van Dyke um and if you can put him through the Evo he

[00:52:46] becomes a 9100 card who's just phenomenal in game so if you're trying to replace Van Dyke both of

[00:52:51] Van Dyke this is your answer even though I still believe Van Dyke is slightly better just my

[00:52:55] personal opinion with and he's good he's really good nice yeah as we've talked Sean we've got

[00:53:02] the name right so um to begin with I wasn't putting him in my team I still had the the base

[00:53:07] who's Abio who was doing a very good job um basically Shaq shaking his head now he he forced me he

[00:53:12] twisted my arm behind my back and told me to put him in so I have um he's a different type of player

[00:53:17] he's not as powerful but he's just unreal you're given the ball you can't get the ball off him even

[00:53:21] if you don't know what you're doing it still sticks to him um he's actually playing as the the

[00:53:25] central striker in my four one no my five two two one um but him Sophia Smith and best kind of

[00:53:32] in a link well they can all drift um like I say you can get the ball off him his finishing is unreal

[00:53:37] the five star week foot is brilliant and he reminds me very much the name are from two or three

[00:53:41] years ago where everybody had to get him in his price held really high right three even on his gold

[00:53:46] card he's he's top draw to be honest so very happy with that um we'd recommend picking him up but

[00:53:52] yeah like Shaq told us the price and we looked at it so don't go pick him up because it probably

[00:53:56] is definitely not four and a half million worth of player um he's comparison with with the team
