[00:00:53] I'm not saying that these two go together, but it might not have helped.

[00:00:58] So I'm glad you're here to help me pick up the pieces, mate.

[00:01:02] Because I don't want anyone to sound like a solo podcast listening to my nasal voice today.

[00:01:07] Nah, I'm sure we'll be fine and we'll get through this quite well.

[00:01:10] But that's also the reason why we're recording this during daytime and you might miss the Monday evening release.

[00:01:16] But hey, we still have got plenty to talk about this weekend, don't we?

[00:01:20] Yeah, there's been quite a few SBCs dropped.

[00:01:22] Obviously, the first weekend league for those that qualified and managed to go through it.

[00:01:27] There's been lots of chat around social media about the state of the game as well.

[00:01:30] There's loads that we'll probably not even touch on today, but we'll pick up in the next few days coming up.

[00:01:35] Best FIFA ever?

[00:01:37] I, to be honest, I don't hate it as much as a lot of people online seem to do.

[00:01:41] I'm quite enjoying it.

[00:01:43] I've got the same.

[00:01:44] It's like you've seen, it's a total change of mindset, but I'm not hating on it like I know a lot of people are.

[00:01:50] No, so I'm in the same mind, like actually quite liking the boss and interconnecting well.

[00:01:56] Shall we discuss my weekly league first?

[00:01:59] Yes, let's start with that.

[00:02:01] And then at least I know I still have a voice left when you talk about content.

[00:02:05] So yeah, weekly, I wasn't going to play honestly, but then I realized I did a podcast this Thursday talking about even if you don't have time, you'll have time.

[00:02:13] You schedule it properly.

[00:02:14] So I thought I'd take my own advice and I started playing.

[00:02:18] So I did it basically in three sessions or five matches during the weekend started, I think Friday night with five, played five on Saturday and played five on Sunday.

[00:02:29] Honestly, Nate, I ended up 10-5.

[00:02:33] It could have been 13-2.

[00:02:36] It could also been 8-7.

[00:02:38] It's like every single match was close.

[00:02:42] So I've got a list here with my results, right?

[00:02:45] Match one is a 3-0 win.

[00:02:47] Match two, it is facing the best player I've ever played, I think, and I lost 1-0.

[00:02:52] Like seriously good match, but I didn't get any chances in.

[00:02:55] Then 3-3, loss on penalties.

[00:02:58] That's unfortunate.

[00:02:59] 4-0, 2-0 win.

[00:03:01] 4-2 win, 1-0 win, 5-4 win.

[00:03:04] Then that match, I was 2-4 behind and the guy paused three times and I was like, I'm not giving up here.

[00:03:10] Which was a good thing.

[00:03:12] Which caused me one result though.

[00:03:14] Players tend to play high.

[00:03:15] There are players that play a high line, 91 aggression.

[00:03:20] They will run out of stamina if you just hold on.

[00:03:22] So don't give up when you're 2-0 behind, I think, against these players.

[00:03:27] Then it happened, Nate.

[00:03:28] I played 0-0, lost on penalties in match nine.

[00:03:33] I played 0-0 in match 10 and also lost on penalties.

[00:03:36] So after 10 matches, I lost three matches on penalties.

[00:03:39] I was 6-4.

[00:03:40] That's close.

[00:03:41] I struggle with penalties this year.

[00:03:43] This is the worst one for penalties.

[00:03:45] I don't miss them all that much.

[00:03:47] I just can't stop them.

[00:03:52] But then match 11 happened, played 3-3, came back in the last minute.

[00:03:56] And I won on penalties, Nate.

[00:03:58] So it is possible.

[00:03:59] Yay!

[00:04:00] 2-0 ragequit.

[00:04:01] I lost 2-4, but that was 100% deserved loss.

[00:04:05] 3-1 ragequit and a 4-3 win on the final match.

[00:04:09] Honestly, decent rewards.

[00:04:10] Got Foden out of it.

[00:04:11] I got Ledley King out of it as well.

[00:04:14] 3-1.

[00:04:15] So I'm not unhappy with this weak click.

[00:04:17] I thought it was sweaty.

[00:04:18] It was definitely closer than before.

[00:04:19] I didn't get any...

[00:04:20] I did get some good wins, but not like total walkovers, if that makes sense.

[00:04:24] Yeah.

[00:04:24] So I think what was intended sort of happened.

[00:04:28] And like I said, it was 10-5.

[00:04:30] It could have been 7-8.

[00:04:31] It could be 8-7.

[00:04:32] It could also be, if I won the penalties, 13-2.

[00:04:34] So it was so close that I think it was the experiences I kind of hoped for.

[00:04:40] And I think 15 matches, split them up in five was doable.

[00:04:43] Didn't feel like a big core either.

[00:04:45] No ragequits.

[00:04:47] I think only one ragequits actually.

[00:04:49] The first one at the 85 minute.

[00:04:50] They scored a trio and they quit then.

[00:04:53] Like I was like, but no weird disconnects, no draw quits at 0-0, stuff like that.

[00:04:59] I just played 15.

[00:05:00] That's it.

[00:05:01] I quite liked my first weekend experience, if I'm honest.

[00:05:04] But looking at socials, like you said, might be alone with that.

[00:05:08] I think a lot of it comes to do with the promise of tremendous rewards.

[00:05:12] And to be honest, I had a bit of FOMO that I wasn't getting to do in Rican League, which I didn't.

[00:05:16] And I did think that the teams would like straight away be left behind.

[00:05:19] And I know you've got Foden, which is a good pull, but he's not top level.

[00:05:23] He's very good if you know how to use him.

[00:05:24] But it's not like if you don't have him, your team's going to be horrific.

[00:05:28] Ledley King's a great pull.

[00:05:29] He's very underrated in FC, I think.

[00:05:32] I think he's really good.

[00:05:34] Coins were good as well.

[00:05:35] Maybe 90,000 or something.

[00:05:36] 100,000 coins or something.

[00:05:37] I don't know exactly anymore.

[00:05:38] But it was a decent amount of coins as well.

[00:05:40] Yeah.

[00:05:41] So the rewards are still good.

[00:05:42] It's the same though.

[00:05:43] The drop weight in some of these packs.

[00:05:45] Some people get insane.

[00:05:46] You look at some of these first owner teams and some of them are crazy.

[00:05:49] And some of them you could still spend the same as other people.

[00:05:51] Not hit.

[00:05:52] It's just luck of the draw, unfortunately.

[00:05:53] So I can see the hate for it.

[00:05:55] But actually, I think that your weekend league experience seems to be what you'd expect.

[00:06:00] Close games on the whole.

[00:06:01] Quite sweaty, especially for the first one.

[00:06:04] Very competitive.

[00:06:05] I think it kind of does what it says on the 10.

[00:06:07] Yeah, I agree.

[00:06:09] Let's see if we do more.

[00:06:10] But this weekend, even though I said I don't have time, this weekend is out of the question.

[00:06:15] I've qualified again though, but I can't play this weekend.

[00:06:18] So I'm curious to know your thoughts.

[00:06:29] Yeah, some actually really good ones.

[00:06:31] And, you know, in the past we've kind of gone on about the pricing of some of the SBCs.

[00:06:36] I actually think they've been some really good pricing.

[00:06:39] Just looking through them today, we've had Kefram Turam, the center mid last night, who is going to be a beastous gullet gang.

[00:06:47] He's coming in around sort of 60k. Yeah, there you go. You got it on the screen.

[00:06:50] 60k. I think this is a tremendous SBC if I'm being honest.

[00:06:53] He's always really good.

[00:06:55] He's got potential for improvements as well because he's the latest guy.

[00:06:58] He'll get two upgrades at least.

[00:06:59] Yeah.

[00:07:00] Now he'll get two upgrades. I think that's it. He'll get two upgrades.

[00:07:03] He's got amazing play styles as well, especially if you're playing him as kind of your defensive midfielder with his intercept and his bruiser.

[00:07:11] Press-proven, relentless, everything that he'd want.

[00:07:13] He's got ping pass as well, so he'll help you get out of trouble.

[00:07:15] I think this is a really well-rounded card.

[00:07:18] And I think, you know, 60k is crazy.

[00:07:20] Like, I actually think that should be, you know, if you got that for double the price, 120, you'd still be saying it's almost a must-do if you can fit him in.

[00:07:28] I said last week that I find the amount of midfielders that come out that are gullet gang, so 80 in all stats, is pretty amazing for me in like second and third week.

[00:07:39] Mm-hmm.

[00:07:40] This card, I mean, I saw it. I mean, I would do him anyways. I'm a UF fan. I'll do him anyways, right?

[00:07:47] This card came out. I was looking at stats. I was like, wait, what? If you told me a year ago we'd get a 60,000 coin SPC, right?

[00:07:58] With full gullet gang stats in the right positions as well, with no real downplay. There's like, there's not a bad stat in this card.

[00:08:08] Yeah, his free kick accuracy is low. Wood, wood, right? And his penalties are low. Like, well, in my case, weekly might make a difference. But besides that, nobody cares about these two stats. What a card, man.

[00:08:22] Yeah, absolutely. Like I say, I think it's a must-do for those that can. You know, I should actually be saying don't do him because I think he's gonna be really difficult to face. I've heard some good reviews on him already.

[00:08:32] Six foot four.

[00:08:32] Six foot four.

[00:08:33] Yeah, I mean, he's a monster. And last year he was tremendous as well, I believe. He had a couple of specials last year, I think. And he was really good. So I've done him. I'm excited to try him out. Hopefully he'll do what you'd expect him to do. But I think for 60K, if you've got it and you can put him in, I think that's an absolute no-brainer.

[00:08:50] 100% just do it.

[00:08:52] Absolutely. And he also links in with the next SBC that was released so that we'll talk about as well, which is one that I did instantly.

[00:09:01] Rafa Varane, end of an era card. He's more expensive. He's up sort of 410-ish, 400-ish, depends what console you're on.

[00:09:12] His price fluctuates, I think, last night he was sitting at 380, 390. So if you do it at the right time, it's a lot cheaper.

[00:09:17] But, I mean, Varane, we know he's just immense in game. He's got really good play styles as well. Intercept plus, he's got ping to pass, block, anticipate an aerial standards, which I think is really good for a centre-back as well.

[00:09:34] He's got roles, he's got defender, ballplay, and he's got the plus-plus and stopper. So you could use him in any defensive setup as well.

[00:09:40] I think this card is just tremendous. And although he's an 87 rated, I think this one could last you for months.

[00:09:46] Like, we're not just talking weeks. This one could last you a long time because I've got a feeling he'll play above his stats.

[00:09:52] Yeah, I mean, 19 standing tag. I can go through all these stats. But I agree. I'm not a big Varane fan, usually. Right?

[00:10:01] I think it's always a bit of a hyped card. This year at Coma, I was like, yeah, not the card I saw. People were like, you should try Varane.

[00:10:08] I'm like, nah, it's all right. Then this came out Saturday, I think. I'm like, ooh.

[00:10:14] Ooh. Yeah, and if you combine that with another French centre midfielder from the same league and play with a month card from the same league, that's also French.

[00:10:23] Yeah.

[00:10:24] That is a tasty core. And we're just hoping they'll drop the other two rammers, the right-back two rams.

[00:10:29] High corners, maybe an SPC as well. Then you've got a very good link. But even for 400k, I think this has got a bit of longevity in it.

[00:10:36] And some people may disagree. With a shadow when he goes up to 90 pace, that's fine.

[00:10:42] He's defending with a shadow, you know, goes up to 94. Stand tackles 98, which is tremendous.

[00:10:47] He always has that sort of AI auto block as well. And I know a lot of people are complaining about the AI defensive actions.

[00:10:54] But I think that this one is tremendous. His agility imbalance looks low, but it always does.

[00:10:59] I always get on really well with his cards. And being a former United player, that for me was a must-do.

[00:11:05] Yeah. And I play this weekend with Virgil van Dijk and Ta at the back line. Virgil is tradable.

[00:11:16] And I'm considering selling Virgil and put Varane there next to Lettley King now.

[00:11:22] That's a solid back line.

[00:11:22] And just keep them for like the next month or so.

[00:11:24] Yeah. Like I say, I think this will last. There may be some better out on paper, but I think he'll still play really well.

[00:11:30] Even up to sort of Christmas time, I think he'll still be in some squads.

[00:11:34] And I know we've been critical on EA, although for some people they say, looking at my DMs, I wasn't too critical.

[00:11:40] There's one thing. EA's graphical design department is saving the game for everyone because this card design is lit.

[00:11:49] It's so nice. It's a shame he's not got the United to get on, but obviously he finished his career at Como, even though I don't think he played a competitive game.

[00:11:56] What? Right?

[00:11:58] He started a third-game season, but then he got his injury and retired.

[00:12:02] But I think that's a really good card.

[00:12:05] 400k, you could say, is a little bit pricey if you compare it to other SBCs we've had.

[00:12:09] But I think if you're thinking of the history of some of these SBCs, like a couple of years ago, this would be going for probably three quarters of a million, probably.

[00:12:17] So, yeah.

[00:12:18] Quadrakay's not bad in relative terms.

[00:12:22] I'd pay three and a half, I think, for Virgil.

[00:12:24] Yeah, exactly. So, similar, but this one's obviously being on tradable. I like on tradables.

[00:12:28] I know some people like to keep tradables so you can sell when they're at the peak.

[00:12:33] But I think if you're wanting to run some of those other two rounds as well, I think this is a cracking option.

[00:12:38] It also ties into the same Maxima and SBC they had not long ago as well.

[00:12:41] So, I think they're trying to force people to play sort of French teams.

[00:12:47] Well, it's easy to link at least.

[00:12:49] Absolutely.

[00:12:50] What else have we got you want to mention? Do you want to mention Fisk?

[00:12:55] Fisk is one I was going to sort of dot over because it's a Liverpool player, so I've got no interest.

[00:13:02] But it's an XP one. You can unlock it through XP.

[00:13:04] I don't think it has – it's got 85 defending.

[00:13:07] But apart from that, there's nothing else standout-ish.

[00:13:09] So, it's more just fodder to have in the club at 84 rated.

[00:13:12] But the other two that kind of got released along with her I thought looked quite interesting.

[00:13:16] So, we'll start with Salmon because I've heard lots of really good reviews of Salmon.

[00:13:20] So, Ebony Salmon is an 85 rated striker from Aston Villa in the WSL, the ladies team.

[00:13:26] I think 20k looks a really nice card.

[00:13:28] 90 pace, decent shooting, 85 shooting.

[00:13:32] She's 3 star, 4 star.

[00:13:34] She can play out wide right as well.

[00:13:36] I think for 20k, this is a really good option.

[00:13:39] It's got the quick step as well, so you could be able to get past with some of these speed boosts and stuff.

[00:13:45] I think it's decent defending.

[00:13:47] It's horrific, as you'd expect, but 92 jumping on it as well.

[00:13:50] Some decent dribbling.

[00:13:52] I think it's quite a nice card for 20k if you want to sort of branch out.

[00:13:56] She's English as well, so she's got decent-ish links, even though it's WSL.

[00:14:03] Definitely.

[00:14:03] It looks really cool.

[00:14:04] I mean, now last year she had some pretty cool cards as well, right?

[00:14:07] Yeah.

[00:14:07] So, I think this one could be a fun option.

[00:14:10] I don't think it'll get into elite tier teams, but if you want something a little bit different for 20k,

[00:14:14] I don't think you can go much wrong with that.

[00:14:16] 100% agree.

[00:14:18] And the last one I was really wanting to touch on is Mewis.

[00:14:23] I think it's Christy Mewis, who's at West Ham.

[00:14:25] A lady, she's American.

[00:14:27] But she's got a really nice, well-rounded card as well.

[00:14:31] Decent pace, decent finishing, all-right passing, good dribbling.

[00:14:35] Left-footed, four-star, three-star.

[00:14:36] Plays CM or CDM.

[00:14:39] Nice play styles as well.

[00:14:40] Incisive passing, long ball, tiki-taka.

[00:14:42] So, I quite like that on your center mids.

[00:14:45] She's not elite tier again, but I think for something a little bit different,

[00:14:48] and if you wanted to tie in with other players, I think that's quite a good option to have as well.

[00:14:53] I think she looks like she could potentially be better than her stats.

[00:14:55] Like, she could play ahead of her stats, I think, as well.

[00:14:59] Yeah, I think this is one of those cards where it's fun and you'll need it for objectives anyways.

[00:15:06] Yeah.

[00:15:06] Or evos, potentially.

[00:15:08] Or evos, it won't hurt to get in your club.

[00:15:10] And I've done a couple of those now so far, just to make sure I've got some options when the day comes you need some American players

[00:15:17] or you need players from the Warclays.

[00:15:22] WSL, yeah.

[00:15:25] Also, if you play Rush, there's always options that you need to have this kind of player, this kind of player.

[00:15:32] And having these cards in your club will make sure you have more options to fit those requirements for extra objective points.

[00:15:41] Absolutely.

[00:15:41] No, like I say, I think it's a good option to have.

[00:15:43] I don't think it's a must-do, don't get me wrong, but I think it's a nice card.

[00:15:46] I think it'll be usable in certain scenarios.

[00:15:49] Or like I say, you never know what's going to happen with evos.

[00:15:52] I think evos is a big thing at the moment and there's always either good chains or good cards that can creep up.

[00:15:56] So I'd recommend doing it if you can, just even storing it in your club.

[00:16:01] Apparently evos are sort of fixed now as well.

[00:16:05] So we'll see how that goes.

[00:16:06] Now it gives us more options as well.

[00:16:08] But if we would summarize this, Nate, we can say Duram is a definitely must-do even if you don't play Serie A.

[00:16:14] Yep, absolutely.

[00:16:16] Varane is, well, actually looks really good.

[00:16:18] It could benefit your team.

[00:16:20] I can see why you won't do it because he's expensive or doesn't fit your team right now, but very highly recommended him, I'd say.

[00:16:29] Absolutely.

[00:16:29] If you can work him in, then yeah.

[00:16:32] If you're not going to use him, then absolutely don't.

[00:16:34] But if you've got an attachment to Varane for any part of his career or Serie A, or you think that actually in the future, again, he could fit an evo.

[00:16:41] And again, he could be tremendous because he's only 87 rated just now.

[00:16:45] Yeah, but if you put him in an evo, that beautiful card design goes boom.

[00:16:48] That is the only downside.

[00:16:52] And Mewis Salman, fun card Salman, probably a little bit more than Mewis.

[00:16:56] Fisk, not really mentioning, not because he's a Liverpool player, Nathan, but because the card itself isn't that special for us.

[00:17:03] No, but I think because it's an objective one, you could probably do it fairly easily.

[00:17:07] Again, it might be nice just having your club, but I think if you're going to see any out of those three, you'd go for Mewis and you'd go for Salman.

[00:17:15] Salman probably, although it's an SVC, I think that'd be quite a nice one to have regardless.

[00:17:20] 100%.

[00:17:39] I said, that's actually a pretty cool card.

[00:17:41] I just bought one.

[00:17:42] I bought her for a little bit more than she's worth now.

[00:17:44] When we're talking about it, I think I bought her for 50k something.

[00:17:49] I said jokingly, I'll buy a whole ton of her because she's getting upgraded anyways.

[00:17:53] I didn't.

[00:17:54] I just bought one just to make sure.

[00:17:55] But she did play this Wicked League as a cam on Shadow Striker.

[00:18:00] And, Nathan, I should have actually opened up my web app, but I think she scored 11 times in my 15 Wicked League matches.

[00:18:09] What a card this has proven to be.

[00:18:12] And here's the next one.

[00:18:13] I am selling Haaland and just put her on top.

[00:18:17] I think it looks a really nice card.

[00:18:19] We used, you know, I've said well-rounded before.

[00:18:21] I think this is another one like that.

[00:18:23] Decent pace.

[00:18:23] The shooting's very good, especially if you put a chem style on it.

[00:18:27] Passing's all right.

[00:18:28] Short pass 85.

[00:18:29] I think that's really good because some of the short passing on the strikers I've used at the moment is horrific and it bounces away.

[00:18:34] Nice dribbling.

[00:18:36] Very good physicality as well.

[00:18:38] So, yeah, you can see why you'd like her, John.

[00:18:40] Yeah, so I put a Hunter on her, to be honest.

[00:18:43] Which puts her at 96 finishing, 92 shot power, 98 volleys.

[00:18:47] 95 acceleration and 91 sprint speed.

[00:18:50] But don't forget, she is 5 foot 10 as well with 95 jumping.

[00:18:54] Yeah.

[00:18:55] And I think she scored three headers because her heading accuracy is also 90.

[00:19:01] So, yeah.

[00:19:03] But don't underestimate the 91 composure on this card, which is...

[00:19:06] And I think the finesse shot she has as well.

[00:19:09] She's got finesse.

[00:19:10] And I know chip shot's not very good this year at the moment.

[00:19:13] But if that gets nerfed slightly, then she's got finesse, chip shot as well as your incisive pass and technical.

[00:19:19] So, she's got quite nice traits, especially for a cam.

[00:19:22] Yeah.

[00:19:23] And she will get upgrades, most likely, right?

[00:19:26] And why I wanted to review her, why I wanted to put some attention on this card is...

[00:19:30] People say this is hard to link, but it also links with the regular male city players.

[00:19:36] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:19:37] And I know people like Haaland.

[00:19:39] You know people like Foden, De Bruyne.

[00:19:42] Even sort of Ruben Diaz, Walker.

[00:19:44] Yeah, Edison seems to be everywhere.

[00:19:45] So, yeah.

[00:19:46] And Dutch.

[00:19:47] So, I thought it was highlight...

[00:19:48] Like, I would highlight it.

[00:19:49] If you can put it, like, even on 2 cam in your team, it doesn't affect anything else.

[00:19:53] Once again, I keep saying that.

[00:19:55] Only affects her bonus stats.

[00:19:57] If she gets a plus 6 on shooting because she's on 2, that's still fine.

[00:20:01] Yeah.

[00:20:01] No, I think that's a great one to highlight.

[00:20:04] I think there's a lot of potential there.

[00:20:05] If that walks out from your rewards on tradable, you wouldn't be disappointed at all.

[00:20:10] Well, people say it's just 40k, so they would.

[00:20:13] But I'm seeing so many cards that are not expensive being pretty good that I don't think you necessarily have to look at all the OP cards.

[00:20:22] And we'll do a separate show about this.

[00:20:24] But look at the rules.

[00:20:25] If the rule fits your player style, then find the right player towards that rule.

[00:20:34] I think that's the best way to do it.

[00:20:36] And for me, it was like even at camps, it was perfect.

[00:20:38] Now I put her on striker and it's like, hmm, actually like far more than the Poacher++, for example, Haaland has.

[00:20:46] Yeah.

[00:20:46] No, that's a great shout.

[00:20:48] So just someone I wanted to highlight because I played a lot and she was really good for me this weekend.

[00:20:54] So do you have anything to add, Nathan?

[00:20:57] No.

[00:20:58] We spoke on content.

[00:20:59] Any evos you want to highlight or something like that?

[00:21:01] No, I know everyone's jumping on the latest Evo with Brennan Johnson, who I think is going to be really hard to snipe at the moment if you've not got him.

[00:21:08] New Evo looks good.

[00:21:09] I can't actually remember what it's called.

[00:21:10] The Canon, I think.

[00:21:12] The Canon, yeah.

[00:21:13] So Johnson looks decent.

[00:21:14] But again, it's 50k.
