673: Immortals, Icons & KDB

I'm looking at this and looking at these players and actually, yeah, you do feel a little bit old because I do remember some of them.

[00:02:15] There will be players out there who have probably never seen these guys play, but it looks quite a fun promo, if a little bit expensive. Yeah, what's the promo all about? Let's start with that though. Well, let's actually read what EE have said. I won't read it all because whoever is on their webpage has put loads and loads of detail on there. And I would recommend that everybody goes and checks us out because we're going to talk about an evolution.

[00:02:40] And there is quite a few rules on there, so we won't speak about every single one, otherwise the show could end up going for two hours. But basically what EFC25 is saying is we are delighted to launch Foot Immortals, celebrating some of the greatest icons and heroes who have achieved football immortality. Keep an eye out for special junior versions of the select players, highlighting their journey to immortality.

[00:03:08] Experience become Immortal Evolution, where you can take your own central midfielder, CM, in brackets for them, on the path to immortality. Complete a series of objectives, evolutions to customise and enhance their skills, shaping them into a true legend on the pitch. Throughout the Foot Immortals campaign, we'll be honouring icons and heroes with SBCs, objectives and more. This includes a special version of Franz Beckenberg, available in packs with a junior version arriving via an SBC, which we'll talk about later on the show.

[00:03:39] And then week two of Immortals delivers the Immortality League, with special rewards available in Golden Goal mode, which is actually really good because it stops the frustration that people have when you're playing a game in friendlies and someone causes for you. And then I decide to play it on. They get annoyed about it, I get annoyed about it. You know, I think there's two schools of thought. There's one people say, look, they're just helping you out because you're all probably quit.

[00:04:04] And then there's people who, like me, who want to press the pause button themselves and I will easily check out for you guys to get that win. But, John, talking about Immortals, where do you want to start? Do you want to start with the SBC, the objective, or do you want to start with the team itself? Well, all about icons, I suppose, and heroes. Shall we start with objectives, maybe? Not my favourite part of the game still, but I think there's something in there that might be worth mentioning.

[00:04:34] So, there is an actual objective player, Bomb Pastor, who, if memory serves me right, is actually doing particularly well with Chelsea. I think, could be wrong, not a massive WSL fan, but she is part of the objectives and you can get her fairly easily.

[00:04:54] Actually, I'm trying to find the card. Here we go. And she is in live. It is called, it's not the streets, won't forget, it's still going. Foot Immortals Bomb Pastor, which I think you have to do six challenges. I think you have to do five of them. It's the baby version, John, so it's the 90 rated. There you go.

[00:05:18] So, and that is basically play one match, play three matches, score in three separate squad battles, assist in five separate squad battle matches, and play six matches while having three French players in your starting 11, and play ten squad battles by having three French players in your team. So, quite a decent little card, that. She's always been good fun, Bomb Pastor.

[00:05:45] Yeah, I used the other one, the original 86 rated one, for a whole long while in this game. Yeah. Actually. So, it's a good fun card. It's got the whipped pass one, which is always good fun. Maybe a little bit underpowered at this stage of the game, John. Don't know what you think. It's hard. I think, like I said, these cards are all good. You can't complain about a press-proven, whipped plus left back for basically playing a couple of games, right? Mm-hmm.

[00:06:17] She can play left midfield, but I think there's better cards, but honestly, it's also still a left back. It's just a fullback, right? Mm-hmm. How much difference does a fullback make in total? Does it matter too much if she's 92 or 95 speed, for example? I don't really think so. No, I mean, there's a stage left at the moment if you wanted to use her. You know, that evolution's still there, but that's a fun card.

[00:06:47] I think it's one you stick in your club and you do, you potentially fire into a SBC heaven, to be honest with you. I mean, I don't think, unless you're a huge fan of her. Yeah, but don't you want the 92 rated version? Well, if you click on the 92 rated version, John, I mean, it's under 100k. Exactly. No, I can't, but that's not the point. You know, so that is the objective card that's out at the moment. It is free.

[00:07:17] So, as I say, it's probably about Fodder. Quite high rated Fodder being 90 rated. So, shall we go to SBCs or players in packs? Let's do SBCs, because I think there's one specific SBC which is worth mentioning. Are we Juventus biased, or are we actually talking about the Icon? I was, yeah, okay, I was talking about the Icon, but you mean the Chesney card? Yes. Yeah, it's not Juventus anymore, though.

[00:07:44] But he was a past and present. He can fit in your team. 92 rated, Wojciech Szesny. He is, let me go back there. 43k. 43k. Goalkeeper. Now at Barcelona. Yes, sir. He's already moved, so a decent league. Decent league as well. Yeah, you know, so he, but goalkeeper, John, what's he got? Placestyle pluses. Cross and footwork.

[00:08:14] Joe, what's your thoughts on that? Ace preference. I know it's a boring answer, but you know, people that play the driven ball, the driven shot, I think footwork works really well for that. Then again, the finesse in the Treveldas, I think far reach plus has still my preference for it. But he has got the silver version, hasn't he? Far reach. Yeah, that's true. Actually, not the plus version. Not the plus, but he's got the silver version, hasn't he?

[00:08:44] You know, the problem with goalkeepers is it has to be something spectacular to replace what you've got, right? And I've got Castillo still fine. It's a fun, if you're a Barcelona fan, this could be a fun card too. It's cheap, at least. And I have to admit that goalkeepers did get a lot less love this year. So maybe this is actually good to get at least options in.

[00:09:13] But do you think you'll face this quite a lot though? No. I think you're either a Barcelona fan or Juventus or Polish, I think, is the only way you're going to get this card in there. Because saying that, Johnny, if you don't mind, just humor me for one second on a player. Nadine Andjerer, is that how you say it? I do apologise to her. She's a goalkeeper. She is in the latest one.

[00:09:40] She's 95 rated, 93,000 coins if you were to buy her. The only issue I think you would have with that card is we're on goalkeepers. I know I've jumped about here. She is 5'9". Yeah. Well, that's not a slight issue though. That is near unusable, I think, unfortunately for a goalkeeper. And I know it might be a little bit strict there, but... Casillas feels small at times and he's way larger. Yeah.

[00:10:12] But honestly, 97 reflexes, 95 diving, 92 handling. It's pretty cool. I think she could be a cool card to try, honestly. So, just we were talking about goalkeepers there, John. I just thought I'd mention her. No, I think she's rather cool. Also, she does have far reach plus on her. Might be worth tracking out. Maybe even more if you haven't already have a German certain midfielder in your team. Could be cool.

[00:10:42] Yeah. So, just as you say, John, back to the SBCs. We have got an icon. Just new in the game. The Kaiser himself. Franz Beckinger. The original sweeper. I think he was, wasn't he? Great on the ball. 93 rated. Coming at 263,000 coins. If you had to pay for it. But I'm sure a lot of us have got fodder out there.

[00:11:09] I'll let you talk through if it's a must-do in the middle or give it a swerve. Well, still has the 96 rated version. He's at 8 million now. So, you don't want to compare too much with that. That's plus three on most stats, I think. But 93 back and forth. Defender or centre midfielder or centre defence midfielder. Three star, four star, I think. Yeah, three star, four star. Four star weak foot. So, that's a guess for a midfielder. Fine for defender. Perfect. Good enough.

[00:11:39] Centre defender. Ball playing defender plus plus, which is interesting. But I think that does fit him the way he played. Really well, actually. Centre defence midfielder is deep lying playmaker plus plus. So, you can see this card can defend, but it's more based on his passing ability. I think as an in-defender and as midfielder. Same goes with centre midfielder. Ball, deep lying playmaker plus plus. And if you look at his stats, he's decently fast. 85, 83. So, I think that's fine.

[00:12:11] Good defending, obviously, I'd almost say. But the interesting thing about this card, I think why he could be over or underrated. People won't rate him too much about it. But if you look at his passing stats and dribbling stats, he's got 86 agility, which is really high compared to the centre defender. But he's also got 90 composure, 92 ball control, 93 reactions. And his passing stats are insane.

[00:12:35] 91 vision, 96 short passing, 97 long passing combined with a good defending. And the fact he's got long ball plus, for example. And silver incisive and pink pass. This could be one of those defenders in like a three back that's actually able to distribute the balls towards everywhere. I think that's really cool. I think I would prefer to use him as a centre defender. What do you think?

[00:13:05] Yeah. I don't know. I'm just looking at him, John. I mean, if you look at his play styles he's got, he's just short of one to have a full one in defending, which is a slight tackle. Yeah. I thought he'd be a CDM. Personally, I feel at 5 foot 11, he may be too small. You know, if you look at the Virgil van Dijk's of this world and, you know. Yeah, that's why I said in three back, I think that might be perfect, actually.

[00:13:31] But as someone who plays with two, I'm kind of hoping, you know, I doubt very much he replaces Reynard, who's the team of the year card that I've got. I wouldn't look at that one. CDM-wise, you know, my Vieira I've got at the moment. I think he's 90 rated or 91 rated. Getting a little bit creaky, but still got those massive long legs. He's got 97 jumping, though. So I think with centre defender, he might get away with his size on midfielder. He might not be strong enough as centre defensive midfielder.

[00:13:59] I just feel he may be, the thing, you look at his passing, the ping passing and the decisive passing as well. Will he be slightly lost? You know, he is, as I say, the original sweeper coming out there. Would you bring, you could potentially bring him out with the ball. I think he's a good fun card. I think, you know, if you think about it, you had the Geert Müller card last week that we talked about. And now this one, I think, you know, this is a very fun card to have.

[00:14:28] Three playstyle pluses, which, you know, I don't think is any wrong with any of the ones that he's got. Which they anticipate intercept as well. So, no, I think it's a great SPC. For me, it's bordering on in between the middle and must do. I find it hard, like I think I said it last week, to implement a must do on most SPCs these days. Because they're all good, usually.

[00:14:54] I think Geert is the only one I'd consider almost a must do. But then again, I'm not doing it because I can't be bothered by doing so many SPCs. So, if I can't recommend him fully with a must do, how can I recommend a backer power on a must do, right? But I think this is definitely a good do. And I think I will be doing him. I think it's one of those links. I really wanted to use a three-back for the time being.

[00:15:23] Also building on a new three-back formation for the Patreon supporters, of course. And what you do need is a way to get out of the back when applying length to five-step, for example, on you. And I think one of this, like a card like this, is able to give him the ball and just move it to one of your wingers that goes out, for example. And especially against a narrow formation, it might be one of those cards which has a crucial role. Not only intercept, but just distribute the ball from the back.

[00:15:53] Give this card a shadow and he is one of the top-notch defenders and able to pass very well. So, I almost declare to say must do, but I'm also seeing the point he's not that meta, if you get what I mean. Yeah, but I think it would be fun as well, John, to use this card. I doubt very much many of us have actually used any of these cards because it's just recently come into the game. So, if you're looking for something to keep it nice and fresh, this is maybe one to try.

[00:16:21] You don't use them for whatever period of time you want to. So, it's not super expensive. If it doesn't work out for you, well, what do you lose? You don't lose very much. True. Yeah, true. So, I want to know if people do it. I'd put it like this. I mean, it's an 88-rated squad. So, it's just not super high either. There's a squad with a team of the year. So, every squad, if that's the highest one, 90,000 coins.

[00:16:52] The one that's top-notch, it needs 60,000, 40,000. So, I mean, I don't think it's super expensive. You know, there's plenty of cards coming out there. And, yeah, I think it's a good fun card. Yeah, I agree. And, to be fair, Footburn agrees. Just short of 900 upticks against 80 downticks. So, yeah, definitely looks like it's a good fun card, that one. Yeah. I'm going to try him.

[00:17:19] I think it could be the missing link in the three-back. So, yeah, looking forward to that. And it's a good price, right? I mean, you bring a new player into the game. They did it with Maradona, gave everyone a free version. Then they bring in this card, give everyone the opportunity to get them like two weeks later. I think that's a really good thing. We shouldn't be underselling what they're doing here, I think. No, definitely not.

[00:17:48] Do you want to go Heroes, Icons, or Evolutions now? Oh, you know, I don't care too much about Evolutions. So, let's start with that. You know, I did the Stryker one, that top score, or what's it called? 500,000 thingy. So, I did that, but I've not used the Stryker I've put an Evo on yet. Who did you Evo? Cool. I did it on Van Persie, actually.

[00:18:17] The SBC that came on. But I need to make sure it actually gets upgraded soon, because I think it's a week left to do. Yes, get that done, John. So, it needs to be done. So, yeah, that's how good I am at Evolutions. And I really, really can't stand the color of those Evolutions cards. No, some of them are not the best. So, we've got Heroes, four of them, or a team of Icons. Where are we going to go? Yeah, that's all with Heroes, though, I think. Okay.

[00:18:47] So, there is four there, which I'm sure you're going to pop up on the screen for people who are... Already on, my friend. ...on Spotify and YouTube. So, yeah, that's not even a five-a-side team we've got. It's a... They would do for Rush, with a goalkeeper there. I mean... Yeah, it's a weird setup, no? Yeah, it is. I mean, we talked about Peter Crouch from getting a card and stuff, but... Or they're out, and then they put in four. Yeah, I think there could easily be more.

[00:19:16] Unless they're going to come as an SPC, John. I doubt they've got one already as an objective in Bonpasso. So, her card there. We've got a baby one, and we've got this one 92 rated, which we talked about, under 100,000. Mostavoy. He is 90 rated Cam. 26,000. Sammy Eljabber, who is a striker, and 90 rated, so 50,000 as well. So, those three cards are not super expensive.

[00:19:46] No, Mostavoy is a whopping 20k. I'm sure you could do Mostavoy for 20k somewhere along the line. Doing one, dude, though. And then there's the man who always seems to be very, very super expensive. David Ginola. 94 rated. At the moment, showing a cool, well, 5 million. It was 4.9 on my screen, so he's going up a little bit. With his luscious locks there. A great picture for that handsome man.

[00:20:15] I know we don't talk about these cards normally, John, but anything you want to say about that one? Well, of course, the card design is amazing, right? And it's a handsome man, but also this is a handsome card. Five stars, so he's got it all. Cam, striker, left winger. I think most of the rules inside forward plus plus on the left midfielder, which are like left winger inside forward plus plus. That's also really cool.

[00:20:43] Playmaker plus plus on the cam, which I think is interesting to see. But this card has it all, mate. He's fast, got good shooting, got awesome dribbling. 90 stamina, but also 96 jumping and 93 strength. Good crossing. He can basically do anything. I think it's one of, like, Ginola is one of those cards which if you back him, you just need to play him, whatever happens.

[00:21:13] And this is no exception. Are you a little bit disappointed in his play style? No, not really. I quite like technical plus. I think you don't play this card as a striker. Let's put it like this. I think you play this card as a left winger. Or if the formation doesn't suit it, then left midfielder. But preferably even left forward is, I think, his ideal plays. If you look at his left forward, he has got the technical plus, of course. And press proven, which I quite like on forwards as well.

[00:21:43] But he's got 95 composure. Sure, he can't power shot plus, plus, but he doesn't really need it with normal shooting, I think. And he can pass. Like, he's a winger that can shoot, but it's also a winger that's actually able to do a proper pass or a cross. He doesn't have the crossing play style, right? No. Nope.

[00:22:09] But he does have 92 crossing and 97 vision and 90 short passing with 93 curve. So, yeah. I mean, I'm not disappointed in all this card. Wish I could pack him. I sure won't be able to afford him, though. That's the way we're doing. It's weird how we've become a little bit snobby about play styles, isn't it? We've never had them before for a while. You know what I mean? We've never had them. And this card had come out a few years ago where I've been absolutely salivating over it.

[00:22:37] And now I'm going, well, he's shooting. He's only got power shot, silver power shot, none of the finesse plus. You know? Look at his pass and he's only got, well, incisive to be fair, but, you know, he's not got ticca-tacca, whip pass, he's not got that. And then you go to his ball control and he's only missing rapid. So it just shows you how play styles have warped our way of thinking a little bit in the game. Yeah, that's true. That's, of course, definitely true.

[00:23:07] He's got three golden play styles, plus, plus play styles. And five star, five star. How can you blame this card? For some reason, I thought, I did think he would have the free kick specialty thingy. Which he hasn't. I don't know why I think that might be confusing him with someone else, maybe. He's a wonderful card. He's strong as well. I don't know if he has a unique body type. He's tall and normal. And he's very strong.

[00:23:37] It is such a fun card to use. If you've never tried a Genial card before and you do have the option to try him, I think this is awesome. We'll probably pick him up in the summer, John. When the madness really starts and there's every single card in the game there, we'll probably pick it up. We'll get a chance to use him in the summer. Yeah, that is true. You just pack him in an 83 times 10 or something. Yeah, exactly. A repeatable one you've been doing for about 100 times and eventually you'll get him once.

[00:24:04] And then you'll get him every single time after that with Jukviri being real. So icons are left, John. And they've really went out fairly splashed out. EE on this one. A full team, if not more. There's a couple of cheap beasts, I think, in there. Yeah, like R9. Cheap beast. 96-0 with R9. Yeah, he's cost zero. Doesn't cost you anything according to Footbin. Exactly.

[00:24:33] So he's peasy. I mean, we could talk about that card. I mean, that just probably is the best striker in the game as always. Henri at 12.6 million, 95 rated. But looking at it, one that always interests me is Steven Gerrard. Mm-hmm. He is 93 rated central midfielder.

[00:24:58] He has got the five-star weak foot, which you say you must have in this day and age. Yeah. And he has got Power Shot Plus, which is good for Steven Gerrard. Incisive Pass Plus and Intercept Plus. Yeah, and it's an interesting card. I agree. And I think one of the things that's also very interesting is the roles that he has, John. He has quite a few roles for a central midfielder. So, yeah.

[00:25:26] Box to Box Plus Plus and Deploying Playmaker Plus Plus on the CM. And of course, Playmaker Plus and Holding Plus. But I think Deploying Playmaker is pretty cool for him. Drop back, get the ball, turn around, pass. Right? But Box to Box would suit him really well with his 90 finishing. 90 finishing on this card. So, combined now with the Power Shot Plus, I think... Yeah, this is a very versatile player.

[00:25:55] And I quite like him. And I don't think that price is anything funky. 300,000-something for this card is really good value, eh? No, definitely. I mean, as you say, his long shot is at 97. Shot power, 90. Short passing, really strong. Long passing, 99. 99. Yeah, it's a really good fun card, isn't it? I mean, it's just, you know, for that price, I wouldn't be put off with a rating either, 93.

[00:26:25] I think that's still quite a decent rating for this side of the game. Yeah, but there's also another card which you packed and think is nothing. Which I quite like. I think that's a Juventus bias, though, John, isn't it? Ah, it could be. Pavon Edved, though. Five-star week, four-star skill move. He has extremely good dribbling. Everything 90 plus, which you wouldn't say if you look at the card itself, right?

[00:26:51] But 90-gallity, 90 balance, 90 reactions, 93 ball control, 93 dribbling, and 90 composure. With low finishing, 82. So there's definitely that. But look at his passing, 94 vision, 92 crossing. Passing is really good. Stamina is really good. And he's got power short, which I don't think matters too much with his finishing. But he's got tiki-taka and a whole lot of silver play styles.

[00:27:17] This card on the left winger, if you can't afford a Gino LeCard, is a pretty good option for 20-something K. And without a doubt, he'll be in my team tonight. So, yeah. I think this is such a cheap card. I prefer the long-haired NetFed, of course. I talked about Juventus base. But I think it's a really cool card, Chris. Definitely. Could I ask a favour, John?

[00:27:47] Just on the screen there, if we could look at the Blanc baby card. I don't know if I know what the Blanc baby card is. Is that 89, right? Yes. And if you click on the Evolutions Builder, there we go. And scroll to the very bottom. Hopefully people can see us on the screen. It's not great if you're listening to us. You're looking for the president. I know that's maybe a swear word at the moment. It's not a great time, obviously.

[00:28:17] But I'll put it on screen. So, if you look at that card. So, okay. This is a paid Evolution. I think it's 100,000. No, 100,000. That's too much. Sorry. Let me go. It's 700 FIFA points. It's 700 FIFA points or 100,000 cards. Yes. And it gives you, from this card, a 92 rated cam. Yeah. And I don't know if you can get, if you click on the card, John, it'll give you the stats.

[00:28:45] The problem is, is that I don't feel he's a cam. But he still can play centre-back, I think. Yeah. He loses that role. So, as a centre-back, 92 rated, Warren Bonk. What's your thoughts on that card, John? No, I think it's, if you compare it to Beckenbauer, for example. I think the Kaiser is a better ball-playing defender. Although, this has ball-playing plus-plus as well.

[00:29:14] But still, how much would it pay? You get the card, the regular one is, the baby one. The baby one is $41,000. Yeah, so $41,000. So, for $141,000 coins, you get 92 rated Blanc card. Except the fact it's a green card and doesn't look as good as the other card, the regular hero card in this promo. He's very fast. 90 sprint speed, 86 acceleration. Very good dribbling. Very good defending.

[00:29:43] I think Beckenbauer is a little bit better at defending. And also better play styles on him. Because he's got first touch and ping pause. The play styles are more of a midfielder, right? Yes. So, and that will be my issue. I think you can be very critical these days at who you put in your team. And I think it's very good value to have this player in your team evolutioned up all the way. But there's better defenders and you might want to have more defensive play styles on the center defender.

[00:30:13] And I don't think this works too good as a cam. Although he's got decent finishing, he's got decent long shots. But again, we have had the freezy done, which is a better cam than this one. But as a ball playing 6'4", center back. Without defending play styles, yeah. Mm-hmm. So, I swear for you then, I take it to that one. Well, like I said, I think that you can be critical now.

[00:30:42] And sure, it's a very tall player. But I wouldn't want to risk putting a defender in my team that doesn't have the proper defensive play styles. Well, you can get very cheap defenders with the right play styles anyway. And maybe they're not 6'4". But they're 6'4". Or 6'1". Right? Yeah, so that would be my issue with this card. Does that make sense?

[00:31:11] Or am I just being way too critical about this? No, I just wondered, you know, having that icon, if it was any good to do? Because it looked a fairly cheap card, to be fair. You know, I'm looking at the SBC itself. There is a lot of options for the president one. For me, I'm doing mostly Rangers cards at the moment. So, I've tried to find a Rangers card that fits in there.

[00:31:37] It looks like if you go up to 85 rated, you will get the maximum amount of stats on that evolution. That was also... Yeah. If you wanted to get one of these cards, and let's be honest, I really hope that every listener does get the Ronaldo card. We wish you luck. But it is a hard one to do. I just wonder if there's anything else on that team, John, that you look at. But, you know, Zola's 1.3 million.

[00:32:07] The Zambrota card, right back, 700,000. Here's the issue again, right? Blanc, Zanetti. I think the Zola card is actually really cool. The 88 rated one. Oh, 88 rated one then. Okay. Yeah, I think he is 5 star, 4 star. Yeah, 5 star skill moves, 4 star skill... Weakfoot. He costs 50k, something around that. Yes. He's got financial quick stab, plus plus.

[00:32:37] He's very fast, 1992. He's got decent finishing, 94, tank position 94, Composure 87. So it looks really fun. Regular dead ball as well. I think it's a really cool card for 50k. And of course, there's the 1.3 million version, which is better, especially with passing and dribbling. But I don't think it's 1.3 million better.

[00:33:04] And I think the baby version, so to speak, might be worth checking out. And I think the Bale card, the left back Bale card... Yes. He does look very fun. Although, spending 800,000 on the left back is... He does have striker, according to the footbill here. Left midfielder and left wing. Yeah. 90 rated. Gareth Bale. He's only as false 9 plus on the striker. So that's an issue, I think.

[00:33:33] And only inside forwards as a left winger. And wide midfielder and the inside forward, plus the regular ones on left midfield. So I think this is, by default, a fullback. And on fullback, he's got false back, double plus, wing back, double plus, and attacking wing back, double plus. So I think that's rather cool. And he's got, of course, extremely good defending and very fast. So I think he is probably one of the best left backs I've seen so far. Mm-hmm.

[00:34:04] I just wouldn't want to pay up for a fullbacks. And because he's got that pace, you don't need to put any chemistry on him that would affect the pace, don't you? So you can strengthen elsewhere if you really wanted to. I'm just trying to see what we've got. Yeah, boost his defending a little bit. So I think if you put... You don't need speed, but if you put an anchor on him, maybe anchors a little bit too much even.

[00:34:33] I don't know. Just a basic, probably. We're in that stage of the game. But I think if you put a Sentinel on this card, he gets to 98 interception, 99 heading accuracy, 98 defensive awareness, 94 standing tackle, and 86 sliding tackle. That doesn't really matter. He's still fast enough, but his jumping goes to 98. Compare that with 99 heading accuracy. Could be really cool. And his strength gets a boost.

[00:35:02] So I would do a Sentinel on him, up his jumping, up his defending stats. He's fast enough and he's also tall enough. So that would be really cool. Just on that... But I think that's a really fun card. I think that is a really fun card. What do you think? Have you got a finisher on him though? I mean, it goes to... The problem is, again, he doesn't have the roles and play styles to play striker. Is that a huge difference? I mean, you're always someone who says, don't worry about Kem. Exactly, yeah. These cards are so good.

[00:35:32] Don't worry about it. So is having those roles now more important than Kem? Yes, in my opinion it is. Yeah. And do you notice a huge difference when you play... Say for instance we played Bale as a striker without these sort of... I think you can put Bale as a striker or Van Persie as a striker. Van Persie is a far less good striker on paper. But because of the rules, I think Van Persie will act far more like the striker you want him to be than Bale would ever do.

[00:36:03] And then the stats are very fun. But I think you want them to be in the best position. You don't want it to be inconsistent. And you see how much they can change with play styles when they introduce the number 10 play style on the camps. It does make a massive difference if that's how you want to play. And you look at his... On his defending stats or defensive rules. I meant rules, of course, not play styles.

[00:36:33] But defensive rules, his defensive rules. He's got all defensive rules on plus plus on his wing back. Falls back plus, wing back plus, you name it. And I think attacking wing back as well. Attacking wing back plus plus as well. I think he's a really cool attacking wing back. As he was in real life, right? For most of his career. Yeah. And... Boosting... Playing as a striker, boosting that part. Of course, he'll get Max Cam, etc. But...

[00:37:03] Yeah. You can't change his rules. But like Yngwie used to say... Maybe for an evolution one day. But then again, by 800,000 for a player that's... Going to be striker, but not for now. I don't think that fits. But... Is there... Any other players then, John? Before we actually... We segue into talking about evolutions. Is there any other player that we... [00:37:32] I think Zanetti is still a cool card. But 4 star, 4 star will probably not cut it anymore. Zambrota, same thing with Bale. What I said, I think a really good fullback. But then again, same... Around the same price. I don't think... It makes a massive difference. But I think the Angerer card. The goalkeeper you mentioned earlier on this show. The 95 rated one. I think there's also a baby version. If I'm not mistaken. Yes, 91 rated. A 91 rated one. Yeah. I think that's 30k.

Well, the question is, John, do you wish to become immortal? After hitting 40 this week? Yes. Please. But then can we rewind 10 more years before we get immortal?

[00:41:28] So to become immortal, you need to choose your favorite eligible CM rated 85 or lower and take them on a journey to immortality. Sounds exciting. Through a series of objectives across squad battles, rush rivals and champs, players can start and stat upgrades and evolution consumables, which can be exclusively applied to your become immortal player.

[00:41:50] If you complete all available challenges, your selected player will go from 88 rated overall to 92 rated overall with two playstyle pluses. As well as a cosmetic upgrade to become immortal hero, evil shell. Hard to say that. With hero chemistry to match as well. And then for week two of foot immortals, so there must be a team two where you can complete the become immortal experience.

[00:42:19] This will allow you to give your player a third playstyle plus and take them all the way to 94 rated overall and receive the exclusive become immortal icon shell with icon chemistry links. [00:42:49] So I won't read it all out, but it sounds like it's good fun. John, are you going to do this journey to become immortal? No, because since you were reading that part, I already played two FIFA matches. No, it's just, it's way, like, you know, my issue with the evolutions is one, more often than it is probably a player that's better. Right? And second thing is most of them are very convoluted, which makes me not want to do it.

[00:43:19] I'm not a lazy person at all, I think. But when I'm like, I need to think this, what, this, this, okay, and then maybe this one. And if it hits that and the sun shines the right way, and I wake up on the wrong, on the right side of the bed, then it's 92. It's just too much for me. And even simple evolutions, I usually, I'm like, oh, that's good value. And then I forget to do it, like the Strikeforce one. So, no.

[00:43:47] I don't think evolutions are for me, basically. And that's, like I said, this week, like, imagine doing, it's the same with doing an SPC. You commit to an SPC, then two weeks later, there's a player that's better. If you don't look at it that way, I think evolutions are really fun. If you find, for example, a finite or a ranger's players to evolve through this, that could be fun.

[00:44:12] But the way this game is going at this current stage, with the power curve being all through the roof, we might just get a 95 rated finite player in a week. So, I find it hard to spend my time and money, in this case, on it. You? Oh, I'll do it, John. This is what's keeping me in the game. I'm so excited about evolutions at the moment. I have got a raft of them still to do with rangers players. So, that's my thing. There is also just something I wanted to mention just on this.

[00:44:43] Please read the blurb. It's very, very thingy. If you're going to do it, there's a lot of play styles to add, play style pluses to add. But also, launching on April 8th, an objective challenge requiring playing two rival games will automatically grant you enough points to qualify for foot champs. So, if you are struggling... I mean, that is cool. That is cool, isn't it? I mean, they are keeping us engaged in the game. We have numerous times on this show giving EA a bit of a kick in, a two-footed challenge.

[00:45:12] But I think, to be fair, they're coming to the party a little bit. But, you know, there is some paid evolutions at the moment. But some of them are 100 FIFA points. Some are 10,000 coins. So, you know, there's actually... It's pretty decent for me. I'm loving evolutions. And long may it continue. Yeah, and don't get me wrong. I like them being in the game. And I am very happy for people to enjoy them. It's just not for me. And I think that's fine as well.

[00:45:42] I hope for. I hope to. And that's why I'm happy you can shine a light on them. Because the evolution tab is something I'm not even checking when I look into the game. But maybe they should just make them orange instead of green or whatever. It would be nice. And then I'm like, you know, it has for me... I mean, I don't care too much about card design.

[00:46:04] But I find the dark green one so uber boring that I'm like, no. But hey. I know there's cosmetics to upgrade your evo as well, of course. But you get my drift. I think it's too much effort for a player that... You know, you can buy a net-fed card for 40k or something.

[00:46:32] Which is, for me, far more interesting to use. I think that says enough. But as we're talking about getting older, John, I think it would be remiss of us... We did not talk about getting older. It's good, I guess. We talked a little bit at the start of the show. But we did talk about... It would be remiss of us not to talk about Kevin De Bruyne, who is leaving Man City after 10 years. Yes. A wonderful player. In your opinion, John? Is he the best ever midfielder to play in the Premier League? I don't know if sprung that on you.

[00:47:02] Oh, that's hard for someone that doesn't watch all the Premier League matches, of course. I mean, he's won 16 trophies, I think. But he is, of course, extraordinary, right? I don't know. I'm not going to say if he's the best. I don't watch too much. I haven't watched too much Premier League over the years to be able to say that properly. But he definitely is a standout player. And I think definitely a hero to be.

[00:47:32] Yeah, I definitely think so. I mean, he's been wonderful in game. I mean, just some of the names that are listed here as the top 10 greatest Premier League footballers. There's Kevin De Bruyne, Cesc Fabregas, Stephen Gerrard, N'Golo Kante, Roy Keane, Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes, David Silva. There's maybe one that gets overlooked. Yaya Toure, Patrick Vieira. So any of our listeners out there who thinks that Kevin is the top midfielder of all time in the Premier League

Unfortunately, age, I think, and injuries have caught up with him. Who knows where he's going to go? Will he head back to his homeland to play in that league for a little while? And he seems like a really nice guy.

[00:48:30] You know, he's not one of these players that rolls about the pitch or that or causes too much problems. No. So it'd be a shame. He will be missed. Interesting to see where he goes next season. But I think this is us starting to see the end of an era as well, John. And I think we've talked this before, the Rinaldos and the Messis as well might slowly start to move away. And some young players starting to take those places. You never know. Yeah.

[00:48:59] But like I said last week, I think it's... This week's promo is all about players that have retired. So I don't think... I think my kids will even use Kevin De Bruyne being an icon and hero when they start playing FIFA later on. So the ball just gets bigger and bigger and bigger. And I don't know if that's a good thing. On the other side, it is cool to remember those players as well.

[00:49:29] So who could have thought I would have Van Persie and Van Basten on top in my current good thing? So, I mean, that is sort of cool as well. But no, of course. I think it's a brave decision to make, actually, as well. To quit from him. To retire from that team. Could be a good moment to do so as well. But I think it's hard to leave something behind where you have won everything you can win.
