[00:01:56] In this week in Football Ultimate Team, we rate our week from 1 to 10.

[00:02:00] 1 being really poor, 10 being as if Liverpool was about to win the league for Yngwie.

[00:02:09] What do you rate it, and why do you rate it that way?

[00:02:14] 4, I think, because there hasn't been anything really interesting.

[00:02:18] Let's start this year with some positivity, shall we?

[00:02:23] Yeah, but there's not been any cool SPC, no cool evolutions.

[00:02:30] The promo team hasn't been that interesting for me, at least.

[00:02:35] So saving packs, played a few matches, it's been okay.

[00:02:42] But I've sold all my good players, the tradable ones, because I'm saving the coins for Team

[00:02:46] of the year, so it's been a little bit extra heavy during the matches.

[00:02:54] My team is quite far behind, it seems.

[00:02:57] Everybody has the R90 card, and one version of Mbappe, of course, Player of the Month,

[00:03:06] Vinicius, and Vieira, all the big guys.

[00:03:11] And I'm running around with some evolution cards that's struggling a little bit.

[00:03:17] They don't teach you to put effort into evolutions.

[00:03:23] I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

[00:03:24] If it wasn't for the evolutions, I'd probably be one.

[00:03:26] So I've had some fun with those, at least.

[00:03:30] So 4 out of 10, but maybe with Team of the Year on the Horizon, that might change soon enough.

[00:04:09] I've got the 92-rated, poo-coloured Messi.

[00:04:13] And I've really, really enjoyed that formation.

[00:04:15] But the players who I was saying, I was saying earlier on about a player who made my team,

[00:04:18] I think, is Mascherano.

[00:04:20] Went a wild card, who I play as a centre-half.

[00:04:24] As a CDM, but I play him as a centre-half plus.

[00:04:26] And that seems to have really solidified the team.

[00:04:27] Playing with two CDMs definitely seems to be the way to go for me.

[00:04:31] Allows me to be attacking down the wings, but still being strong in the middle.

[00:04:35] Yeah.

[00:05:09] And actually, it's really good fun in rush as well, having that long ball pass.

[00:05:12] It really just pings the ball.

[00:05:14] That's great.

[00:05:15] A really good playstyle, that.

[00:05:16] Yeah, he's quite good, actually.

[00:05:18] And he's super cheap for what you get.

[00:05:22] So he also has the normal ping pass.

[00:05:24] And he has intercept, jockey, slide tackle, and anticipate.

[00:05:27] So he's kind of got all the good styles for a CDM position, as you say.

[00:06:53] But there's lots and lots of cards, which I packed throughout that period.

[00:07:03] And sometimes are really amazing cards.

[00:07:05] I think Brian Gill, one of those cards which I packed was like,

[00:07:09] oh, 86 rated Gill.

[00:07:11] Then I was like, what's this?

[00:07:12] 99 shooting?

[00:07:13] Let's check this out.

[00:07:14] Whoa.

[00:07:15] Santi Corsola was one of those cards which I packed.

[00:07:18] And I was like, is he actually still in the game?

[00:07:22] Then I looked at this card.

[00:07:23] That's like, he's got max out shooting without any boost.

[00:07:28] What's going on with these cards?

[00:07:29] And these cards are like 10, 12K, something like that.

[00:07:32] I think that's proper amazing.

[00:07:35] And this week got an extra point.

[00:07:37] Because I would set seven.

[00:07:38] But not until Yngwie said yesterday to me,

[00:07:41] did you see the Urien Timber card?

[00:07:43] Or Quinton Timber card.

[00:07:44] I even said myself.

[00:07:46] The final midfielder.

[00:07:47] And I was like, no.

[00:07:48] And he showed me an 89 rated mini release Quinton Timber card,

[00:07:54] which has been an amazing box-to-box player for about 50K for me.

[00:07:59] So yeah, that may sort of make me weak.

[00:08:01] So two final players in my team playing a new formation,

[00:08:03] finally been coming back to play in.

[00:08:07] Feel refreshed.

[00:08:08] And I'm quite enjoying the current state of the game, actually.

[00:08:12] Yeah, we had a patch as well this week.

[00:08:14] So maybe that spiced things up for you as well.

[00:08:18] Yeah, although everyone say, I came back, people say, well, there's no skill cap anyway.

[00:09:32] oh, I needed to get 4-3-3 working because that was a Patreon target.

[00:09:36] So that keeps me refreshed and focused on the thing.

[00:09:45] Well, I don't kind of overdo it when I play.

[00:09:49] So I'm just, at the moment, I'm just trying lots of players I have in my club

[00:10:23] And I put back the Jamie Carragher SPC card.

[00:10:31] Really fun.

[00:10:32] I really like the Xavi Simons Dinio 1 Evolution version I have.

[00:10:38] It's a very, very fun card.

[00:10:41] He's keeping out on this day Cruyff.

[00:10:46] That's impressive.

[00:10:48] Yeah, I've done the attacking avalanche chain thing that I got Salma,

[00:10:57] the Barcelona lady, up to a 91 rated card with two play styles.

[00:11:03] A really fun card.

[00:11:04] Took ages.

[00:11:05] It's like 17 matches plus the other evolutions.

[00:11:11] So that took a while.

[00:11:14] So I was just trying new stuff.

[00:11:16] Trying to kind of master a little bit finesse shot now that it's getting nerfed.

[00:11:22] So, of course, when I finally do them well, they will soon be maybe not as effective as they are now.

[00:11:30] Chris, any tips from you to keep it fresh?

[00:11:32] I would just play different game modes.

[00:11:34] I think they've done a good thing, EU and Numero Foot for Rush.

[00:11:40] It's been really interesting.

[00:11:41] They've put a lot of decent packs up for that.

[00:11:42] So if you're one of these guys who are thinking of a storm for Team of the Year,

[00:11:48] there's loads of opportunity there.

[00:11:50] I enjoy that.

[00:11:51] I'm being a bit disappointed, I must admit,

[00:11:52] to see that they moved the season points back into normal play.

[00:11:56] I really, really enjoyed the fact it was in friendlies

[00:12:00] because that gave you a chance to use more players.

[00:12:02] I thought at first it was a waste of time,

[00:12:04] but actually when you got into it and you were doing the One Nation,

[00:12:06] it was good fun.

[00:12:07] So I just do all the different game modes.

[00:12:09] Really struggled.

[00:12:10] Played Weekend League.

[00:12:11] I really struggled to didn't qualify any points for rivals,

[00:12:14] just ran out of time.

[00:12:15] So that's my tip.

[00:13:47] But I'm not going to do what I've done before.

[00:13:50] When I held the packs,

[00:13:51] I held until the full team was in packs for Team of the Year.

[00:13:56] I'm just going to start opening when the first batch of positions

[00:14:01] are either attacker, midfielder or defenders.

[00:14:04] I'll just start then and then just keep continuing open

[00:14:09] because there's going to be big, hopefully, SPCs, etc.

[00:14:12] So I'll need the fodder anyways.

[00:14:14] And sitting when the whole team is out with 200 packs is so boring.

[00:14:19] It takes ages to open if you're going to recycle, etc., etc.

[00:14:23] So I'll just start when it starts first time in packs.

[00:14:29] I've never saved a pack in my life.

[00:14:33] Not even when I get Thursday rewards.

[00:14:35] It's just open up when I get it.

[00:14:37] And usually, I mean, the biggest chance you get,

[00:14:41] I always think about Team of the Year is on those upgrade SPCs

[00:14:45] or those weird SPCs that give out tremendous packs, right?

[00:14:49] On tradable, I think those are the biggest chance you get.

[00:14:54] And if I get back a Team of the Year,

[00:14:56] it's normally not from packs, from rewards, something like that.

[00:15:00] It's almost always from an upgrade SPC

[00:15:03] or in one situation where my dear friend Yngwie helped me out.

[00:15:07] It was during a squad battle reward for Cristiano Ronaldo.

[00:15:11] And he actually had to talk me through playing those squad battle matches

[00:15:14] else I would have never done it.

[00:15:16] So now, I mean, chances are so slim.

[00:15:20] And I've said this before.

[00:15:22] I think Team of the Year makes it so that if you have saved

[00:15:26] and you don't pack, it will just ruin your FIFA year

[00:15:29] or your FC year, right?

[00:15:30] I don't think that's ever worth the risk for me.

[00:15:35] It's sort of destroying your own hopes.

[00:15:39] There's not even a single percent chance.

[00:15:42] So you open 1,000 packs with 1% chance or less.

[00:15:47] There's still big chance you actually don't get any, right?

[00:15:51] I think that's the way.

[00:15:52] And what I do is, I think the biggest chance is actually

[00:15:55] just do some SPC pick at 7 or 8, 6 p.m. UK.

[00:16:00] Whenever it comes out of pack, just do those SPCs ASAP

[00:16:04] because they might be broken again.

[00:16:08] So I'm not saving at all.

[00:16:17] Adam asks, what are your chaps predicting for Team of the Year?

[00:16:20] Is it going to be good pack weight or not?

[00:16:22] For Team of the Year standards, that is.

[00:16:23] A lot of EA mistakes, great SPCs or rubbish one.

[00:16:26] Are we in for a standard Team of the Year or bog standard

[00:16:29] or even a rotten edition?

[00:16:32] Just going to ask Yngwie because he has to sell people the podcast next week.

[00:16:36] So it's going to be a tremendous Team of the Year, isn't it?

[00:16:39] There's going to be some insane players with great play styles.

[00:16:44] All of them will have two.

[00:16:47] And I'm pretty sure they're going to be the best cards in the game.

[00:16:50] So if you pack one, it's going to be pretty amazing to do so.

[00:16:55] So it's always one of, at least my favorite time of the Ultimate Team year is Team of the Year.

[00:17:04] There's usually always some good icon SPCs as well.

[00:17:07] So it's a very good time to upgrade your team because the great players now will usually drop a lot as well.

[00:17:18] So if you have some coins and if you can't buy the best Team of the Year cards,

[00:17:24] I'm pretty sure you can build a great team with what you have anyways

[00:17:27] because the great cards now will still be more than usable

[00:17:32] because you're not going to face full Team of the Year teams many times at least.

[00:17:37] So yeah, for me, it's always fun.

[00:17:41] I see Chris does want to say something about it.

[00:18:13] But I detest the promo.

[00:18:15] I don't think it's needed.

[00:18:16] Indeed, I think it's the wrong time of the year it comes in.

[00:18:18] Team of the season I get because we're at the end of the game.

[00:18:20] But this one just completely distorts it.

[00:18:22] People lose their mind over it as well.

[00:18:29] But I would say is, I think if EA are going on past two years,

[00:18:33] it will be very low pack weight.

[00:18:35] And if you're thinking of buying a player, buy early.

[00:18:39] Because certainly I think the likes of Sophia Smith last year were a decent price

[00:18:43] when they were at the start.

[00:18:44] And then as a pack weight kicked in and people were like,

[00:18:46] wow, we're not getting many cards.

[00:18:48] The price was driven up.

[00:18:49] So, you know, you pay your money, you take your chances.

[00:18:52] For me, I've got a bit of coins lying there.

[00:18:54] And I'm thinking of just trying to snap one of these female strikers up as quick as possible.

[00:18:59] Yeah, it's what Shaq said on Tuesday's show with Nathan.

[00:19:03] If you haven't checked it out, check that.

[00:19:04] Episode 650.

[00:19:06] They said just buy it ASAP because there was a lot of cards last year

[00:19:11] that they picked up early and just almost 20% doubled.

[00:19:16] Some of them doubled, yeah.

[00:19:18] So if you pack something early, don't sell it either.

[00:19:21] Just stick with it for a couple of weeks because it will be better.

[00:19:24] Just use the card and have fun.

[00:19:45] And then Yngwie was talking and explaining that was all about the numbers on the kit.

[00:19:50] And I was like, oh, it actually makes really much sense.

[00:19:53] Except it took me three weeks to notice or two weeks to notice that actually.

[00:19:59] So Yngwie, what do we get?

[00:20:01] What's worth mentioning and which cheap piece do we need to take a look at?

[00:20:05] Well, I can maybe mention the species we got, well, at least today.

[00:20:12] We got the player of the month, Alexander Isak, the Swedish Thierry Henry.

[00:20:18] It can't be made because everyone said, all the leakers said we would get Salah.

[00:20:24] Yeah, well, they were wrong for once.

[00:20:28] So Isak had an incredible month.

[00:20:31] So he deserved to get a player of the month.

[00:20:34] On the card, well, I could probably do a podcast complaining about it.

[00:20:41] But card for the value is okay.

[00:20:45] EA, I don't agree with the playstyle plus because I don't think he scored a Trivela goal the whole month.

[00:20:51] He had a few power shots.

[00:20:53] For example, the great one versus Slipple, he should have had power shot plus in my opinion.

[00:20:58] If it was Salah the one, he could have had Trivela because he did lots of Trivela passes with his assist.

[00:21:05] So hopefully EA will think a little bit more when they give these cards playstyles.

[00:21:11] Think what they actually did the month and then kind of shape the card after that.

[00:21:18] It's going to be a card to be used in an evolution later, I'm pretty sure.

[00:21:23] And then he could be really, really, really good.

[00:21:27] So it's not a horrible price, but I wish it was more expensive and better and higher rated than his Thunderstruck.

[00:21:37] I was going to say, I think it's a must-do.

[00:21:40] I think it's a must-do, this card.

[00:21:42] Six foot four, tall, skinny, extra long go-go gadget legs.

[00:21:47] You say that, he's going to be in an evolution.

[00:21:49] He's a great league to have in.

[00:21:52] So I think we discussed this earlier.

[00:21:54] We all think Salah probably will make Team of the Year.

[00:21:56] He certainly deserves it the way he's playing.

[00:21:58] He's on fire at the moment.

[00:22:00] For us guys who play fantasy football, he's a must-have to have in your team.

[00:22:04] So Isaac is getting that way as well.

[00:22:06] So I think it's a really good card.

[00:22:08] If you look at what's out at the moment as well,

[00:22:11] Team of the Year a week away, for what they're asking you to do,

[00:22:15] I think this is a must-do card.

[00:22:17] And Evolution's five-star weak foot is a massive one for a player like me.

[00:22:21] Yeah, he has the normal power shot and finesse shot.

[00:22:24] So that's really good attacking play styles as well.

[00:22:28] And he got technical and rapid.

[00:22:30] First touch, normal as well.

[00:22:32] And flare.

[00:22:33] So he has got some good, very good potential, this card.
