[00:03:16] Do you guys think that the content can save the game in the current state or is the gameplay still too bad to make it enjoyable?

[00:03:26] Overall, Nate, do you think that there's more pressure on this promo than anyone you can remember in kind of recent memory?

[00:03:34] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:03:35] I mean, Black Friday is always a biggie.

[00:03:39] Thunderstruck, I think it was only last year that Thunderstruck maybe tied in with Black Friday.

[00:03:43] But, you know, last year was such a huge success.

[00:03:46] I think everyone kind of unanimously decided it was a success.

[00:03:48] So, that is good.

[00:03:50] I mean, this is one that people mark up on their sort of FC slash FIFA calendars.

[00:03:55] This, you know, combined with Team of the Year, sorry, the two sort of major biggies before you get into silly season and thoughts.

[00:04:02] So, I think there's a lot of pressure.

[00:04:04] And like Ingvi said, you know, there's definitely been gripes and we've gone over it on this pod on our Tuesday club.

[00:04:10] There's been lots of issues with the game.

[00:04:12] So, let's hope that, you know, this is the start of an awkward trajectory.

[00:04:15] I think from the sounds of it, it could well be a plus point of the game.

[00:04:21] But obviously, it depends how it's executed.

[00:04:24] Now, look, let's sort of sum up everything.

[00:04:27] Because there will be people listening to this that maybe haven't been through a Black Friday before.

[00:04:30] Maybe they're returning to the game.

[00:04:31] They haven't been here for the last few years.

[00:04:33] In short, Black Friday is where EA go bonkers on the menu side of this game.

[00:04:38] As mentioned, the Thunderstruck promo will be returning.

[00:04:42] Again, Thunderstruck cards are live upgradable cards.

[00:04:45] There are some big names.

[00:04:46] We're not going to go specifically into the names that have been leaked.

[00:04:48] But, you know, we'll leave that.

[00:04:49] We'll leave some mystique for what gets dropped.

[00:04:51] There are some big name players to come in that.

[00:04:53] And they're live cards.

[00:04:54] So, they're great to follow along with.

[00:04:56] On top of that, EA also releases a Best of Team of the Week back into PAX.

[00:05:02] And as of last year, they released a Best of Campaigns back into PAX as well.

[00:05:09] So, you know, your Thunderstrucks, your Total Rush players.

[00:05:11] There'll be a selection of them back in.

[00:05:13] Will that change?

[00:05:14] So far, we've seen leaks for the Best of Team of the Week.

[00:05:17] We've not seen any leaks for a Best of Campaign pack.

[00:05:20] So, maybe they don't go back into PAX, but maybe they do.

[00:05:23] And in short, as I joked about, EA will load the store.

[00:05:26] You know, Nath has got a calculation that he can't wait to break out later in the show.

[00:05:30] But if you think there are loads of store PAX at the moment, hold on to your hats.

[00:05:35] And more importantly, your credit cards.

[00:05:36] Because they will be throwing out everything.

[00:05:38] I think the most we've had this year is a 360,000 coin pack.

[00:05:43] I would fully expect a 400k, maybe a 4k pack.

[00:05:46] But on top of that, there are lots of SBCs.

[00:05:49] We have some great players usually release.

[00:05:51] There is a top-tier icon on this day that's already been leaked that we'll talk about.

[00:05:55] Last year, of course, we had a Frankie de Jong Thunderstruck card that was in people's teams for a long, long time.

[00:06:00] I think there was Null and St. Maximum as well.

[00:06:02] So, expect lots of flash SBCs and challenges as well.

[00:06:06] Like, every hour they were releasing, you know, a challenge SBC to give you loads of different packs.

[00:06:11] From 50k packs to gold packs to everything.

[00:06:14] So, it lasts usually over the whole weekend from kind of like Thursday evening-ish through to Monday.

[00:06:21] And on top of all of that, we have the brand new season launching as well.

[00:06:26] Which promises a return for the swaps mechanic, Nathan.

[00:06:32] So, all change.

[00:06:34] If you thought, you know, things have been a bit slow over the past, you know, few weeks on FC 25.

[00:06:39] You know, they are turning the crank up to 200.

[00:06:43] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:06:44] I mean, I think we can all agree that the content's been somewhat lacking.

[00:06:48] It's not been the best sort of content period.

[00:06:49] So, I said before that I think the last week or two of seasons are a bit boring for me.

[00:06:55] Especially if you hit the top of that ladder.

[00:06:56] So, I'm excited to have a, you know, a fresh thing.

[00:06:59] Fresh things to grind.

[00:07:01] The swaps concept is very intriguing.

[00:07:03] I think the leaks at the moment are that it'll be swaps for champs, rivals and squad battles.

[00:07:09] Excuse me.

[00:07:10] So, it'll be quite interesting to see how they execute that.

[00:07:13] I didn't mind, you know, the current one with Richarlison and Gael Felix.

[00:07:17] Because I don't really do champs.

[00:07:19] But I also don't feel like we're missing out an awful lot with them.

[00:07:22] Because they're decent cards, but they're not, you know, they're not going to stay in your team for, you know, the next six months unless they've got lots of evos.

[00:07:29] So, if they do it that way where actually the players are decent.

[00:07:33] So, if you can get them, great.

[00:07:35] If you miss them, you don't beat yourself up.

[00:07:37] I think that's a great way of doing things.

[00:07:39] And I quite like the concept.

[00:07:41] And, you know, having more content to grind either through menus or gameplay I think is really exciting.

[00:07:48] This Thunderstruck promo as a whole I think could be really good.

[00:07:51] And, you know, the next week as of, you know, Thursday, Friday could be very busy for the grinders.

[00:07:56] Yeah.

[00:07:57] To elaborate a little bit more on the swaps and what we know so far, again, we're recording this around lunchtime on the Tuesday.

[00:08:03] So, I'm sure much more will come out.

[00:08:05] I mean, we'll know a lot more on Thursday when the new season starts.

[00:08:08] But it looks like you're going to earn what are called mastery players for your performance, as Nathan mentioned, in champs, in rivals and in squad battles as well.

[00:08:19] Now, again, lots of unknowns at the moment.

[00:08:21] We don't know if the players you're going to obtain are going to be usable in themselves.

[00:08:24] So, are they going to be, you know, 86, 88 rated decent promo cards that you can either keep and then swap in?

[00:08:31] Or in previous years, if you haven't been around for icon swaps, they were basically, you know, a 62 rated bronze card that you would never use.

[00:08:40] And you would just gather a certain amount of them and you would then trade those in for a player or for a pack.

[00:08:47] And, again, we don't really know what you're going to be trading them in for.

[00:08:50] Will it just be, will it be for promo players?

[00:08:52] Will it be for gamble packs?

[00:08:54] Will it be for fodder packs?

[00:08:55] Lots of unknowns.

[00:08:57] Lots of people, though, Nathan, have kind of wished for swaps to come back.

[00:09:00] The downside that I've seen so far, based on what we know, is a lot of people are complaining about it's just another sort of reason for people to sweat.

[00:09:10] It's not, you know, we've already seen EA locking things behind quality control in terms of, you know, it's very hard to get into foot champs, for example.

[00:09:20] Now they're going to be locking certain rewards and players behind barriers.

[00:09:23] So in the new foot champs rewards, for example, I think rank one gets you three of these mastery players where I think if you go down to like, I don't know, sort of like six, six odd wins, I think you get like one.

[00:09:35] So again, some people are concerned being like, great, it's another thing that I can't get a hold of.

[00:09:40] Whereas in years past, swaps were open to all.

[00:09:43] Yes, it took people longer, but it was always accessible to everybody.

[00:09:47] Everybody could get those World Cup swaps and the icon swaps, couldn't they?

[00:09:50] Yeah, I mean, there's two, two trailer thoughts for this, isn't there?

[00:09:54] The better players, maybe some people deserve, they'll think they deserve better because they're better players.

[00:09:59] So they should get the top end ones.

[00:10:00] But obviously there's that bit where it's like the rich get richer if you like.

[00:10:04] So the better players get access to better cards, which then creates a bigger divide.

[00:10:09] And I've been, you know, I've been yo-yo in between div two, div three at the moment.

[00:10:12] And as soon as you get into div two, the squads in there are just stupidly stacked.

[00:10:17] And it's a bit of a fear that that would kind of happen again.

[00:10:19] But it's kind of hard.

[00:10:21] You need to reserve judgment to see how it's done.

[00:10:23] Because we all know that, you know, the way it was done before, if it was swaps,

[00:10:28] like the traditional swaps that we've had, not the season reward ones, is that there was combinations.

[00:10:33] And I don't think I ever really used all my swaps.

[00:10:37] So there was always four, five, six tokens at the end of it, where we're just sitting in my club,

[00:10:42] which were just generic, you know, bronze or gold or silver players by the end of it.

[00:10:46] So, you know, it's very, very easy to say this is wrong, that is wrong.

[00:10:50] But, you know, first things first, you're not going to please everybody.

[00:10:53] Some people want to open to everyone.

[00:10:55] Some people want to sort of a little bit more tailored to your grind and your levels.

[00:11:00] So I'm reserving judgment till we see, you know, it could be that you could have,

[00:11:04] you know, I don't know, 85 times 10 packs or, you know, decent players.

[00:11:10] It just, it all depends on how they actually bring it out.

[00:11:14] So I think it's a good premise.

[00:11:16] I'm not going to get myself really disheartened if I miss those three tokens in champions,

[00:11:21] because I think that actually there'll probably be ways to get them all or get, you know,

[00:11:25] most of them in other sort of forums.

[00:11:27] So I don't think it'll be the be all and end all if you're not in champs.

[00:11:31] Yeah.

[00:11:31] And it's very much a case of the devil is going to be in the details in this.

[00:11:35] And until we actually see the system and what the rewards are and things like that,

[00:11:38] I don't want to delve too much into that.

[00:11:39] I think that's something we can get into on our next Tuesday club show.

[00:11:43] And of course the guys on Friday doing the main show as well,

[00:11:46] they'll be able to sort of elaborate a little bit more,

[00:11:48] but it's usually they're coming back.

[00:11:49] What we do know, Nate,

[00:11:50] talking about rewards is that they have boosted the rewards up for foot champions.

[00:11:55] Again, we've not seen what they're going to do to rivals,

[00:11:57] but we imagine and squad battles as well,

[00:11:59] but we imagine they're going to be changed as well.

[00:12:01] I mean, as somebody that gets generally what I can't even think what the ranks are.

[00:12:07] I get, I've got sort of eight, it's between seven and nine wins.

[00:12:10] I don't think it's a massive change for lower down,

[00:12:13] but I mean, you, you can't really argue against them boosting.

[00:12:16] I mean, the new rank one rewards, for example,

[00:12:19] an 86 by 10, three 85 plus player picks,

[00:12:23] an 85, 10 and 87 plus base icon,

[00:12:26] an 89, two and 84 by 25,

[00:12:29] three team of the week, triple packs,

[00:12:31] and those three champions of the main masteries.

[00:12:33] And okay, you can't say that EA aren't rewarding the very best players.

[00:12:37] No, absolutely.

[00:12:38] And I think that was kind of the sign that they were going to do right from the off.

[00:12:42] So I don't have a massive kind of issue with that

[00:12:44] because people that are getting those levels

[00:12:46] aren't going to be in, you know, even div two,

[00:12:49] maybe not even div one.

[00:12:49] These are elite level players.

[00:12:51] So that's fine for me.

[00:12:53] It would be nice to share the love,

[00:12:54] but again, I don't really play champs at all.

[00:12:56] So again, it doesn't bother me.

[00:12:58] It's if they kind of juice it too much at the lower down

[00:13:02] with no disrespect,

[00:13:03] that's when it'll start being a bit frustrating

[00:13:05] for people that just can't do champs,

[00:13:07] whereas actually they're getting it just for participating.

[00:13:10] Whereas I think we've always said

[00:13:12] that they try and make champs the elite place to be.

[00:13:14] Although it sounds really harsh,

[00:13:15] and I know I'm going to get a lot of people saying,

[00:13:17] no, you're wrong.

[00:13:17] I think that, you know,

[00:13:18] you should reward those that are already higher up

[00:13:21] and then it's not going to affect me

[00:13:22] because it's, you know,

[00:13:23] it's not like FIFA of yesteryear

[00:13:25] where people sandbag leagues to make it easier for them.

[00:13:27] The best rewards in rivals are in the higher divisions.

[00:13:31] People seem to be wanting to get out of their division.

[00:13:33] So I think it's, you know, fair play.

[00:13:35] If you're at that level,

[00:13:36] you deserve to get good rewards.

[00:13:38] A person going 15-0 is going to spank me

[00:13:40] whether they've got an all gold team

[00:13:42] or whether they've got a god squad.

[00:13:44] So like you said, it makes little difference to me.

[00:13:47] I think I would be more concerned

[00:13:48] if the rewards were a big jump from, say,

[00:13:52] seven to nine wins,

[00:13:54] then you'd be kind of like, you know,

[00:13:56] you'd get, you know,

[00:13:57] the bad luck of the draw or a disconnect or something

[00:14:00] and then you'd be feeling really hard done by.

[00:14:02] But with the way these are tiered,

[00:14:04] again, it's kind of like,

[00:14:05] it's kind of much remuchness

[00:14:07] between sort of six and 10 wins

[00:14:09] and then above then you really start to pull away.

[00:14:11] And again, I think there is that clear quality gap this year

[00:14:15] between someone getting 11 plus wins

[00:14:17] on a regular basis and kind of the rest.

[00:14:20] It was interesting.

[00:14:21] I was listening to what Nepenthes was saying

[00:14:22] about foot chance rewards

[00:14:24] and again, made me feel a little bit better at myself,

[00:14:26] but he was talking about his experiences

[00:14:28] and his community and stuff.

[00:14:29] And he was actually saying,

[00:14:30] look, if you're getting seven wins this year

[00:14:32] in foot champs, you're doing pretty well.

[00:14:35] It can be easy to go, okay, well, I've not,

[00:14:37] you know, I've lost more games than I've won,

[00:14:39] but with how hard it is to get in

[00:14:41] and you only need to look in both our own discord

[00:14:45] and social media in general

[00:14:45] to actually understand that it is really hard

[00:14:49] for a lot of people just to even get

[00:14:50] into weekend league this year,

[00:14:52] which is why in turn weekend league feels

[00:14:55] so unbelievably competitive

[00:14:56] and why wins are down

[00:14:57] because you're just not getting that padding

[00:14:59] that you used to.

[00:15:00] I failed to get into weekend league again this week.

[00:15:02] I failed my qualifiers.

[00:15:04] I was two and three,

[00:15:05] played the next day and went five and up.

[00:15:07] It feels so much more of a lottery this year, Nath.

[00:15:10] And again, just a kind of a bit of a pat on the back

[00:15:13] and a pick-me-up for both people

[00:15:15] that are making champs

[00:15:16] and maybe not getting the wins that they want to

[00:15:17] and just those people that are struggling to qualify.

[00:15:19] Again, nobody is alone in this battle here.

[00:15:21] You've not suddenly got worse overnight.

[00:15:23] Yeah, I mean, just to put it out there,

[00:15:25] Dan, I have a 100% qualifying record

[00:15:27] in champs qualifiers.

[00:15:29] I've done it once

[00:15:29] and I've qualified that one time.

[00:15:31] So that's one of the reasons

[00:15:33] I don't want to try and do champs

[00:15:34] because I want to stay with my 100% records.

[00:15:37] But I mean, the gold star is on its way over to you, Nath.

[00:15:45] Let's talk about some of the other things

[00:15:46] that are coming.

[00:15:47] Again, we're going to have to give away

[00:15:52] And of course, we've had another massive market crash

[00:15:55] that we kind of teased and talked about

[00:15:57] over the last couple of weeks.

[00:15:58] We did sort of say that this was coming

[00:15:59] and it's in full effect now

[00:16:01] because again, we know that best ofs

[00:16:04] are going to be,

[00:16:04] certainly best of team of the week

[00:16:06] and be back in packs.

[00:16:06] And we know that this brand new promo squad

[00:16:08] full of icons as well,

[00:16:10] promo icons as well is coming.

[00:16:12] Plus whatever this champions

[00:16:13] or whatever these mastery things

[00:16:15] and swaps are.

[00:16:16] So the market is tanking.

[00:16:18] The big name icon was linked

[00:16:20] and has basically been confirmed

[00:16:22] by the very reputable leak

[00:16:23] as if it feels like a juxtaposition

[00:16:25] saying a reputable leaker.

[00:16:27] But you know,

[00:16:28] the ones that tend to get it right anyway.

[00:16:30] The Johan Cruyff is on the way

[00:16:32] as an on this day icon.

[00:16:34] Yngwie did a bit of digging in the discord.

[00:16:36] And pointed out that on Friday

[00:16:38] coincides with a day where he'd scored six goals.

[00:16:41] I think in a cup game for Ajax.

[00:16:45] He is coming as an on this day icon.

[00:16:47] Again, some mixed reactions to this one, Nathan,

[00:16:49] because a lot of people are not too happy

[00:16:53] that he's been downgraded

[00:16:55] compared to his base icon.

[00:16:57] However, realistically,

[00:16:58] EA almost had to make him worse

[00:17:00] looking at the market.

[00:17:01] Yeah, I mean, his base icon,

[00:17:02] I think, still is about 4.3 million,

[00:17:06] if I'm not wrong.

[00:17:07] It's a 93 rate,

[00:17:08] and it does look amazing.

[00:17:09] But if you look at some of the leaked stats,

[00:17:12] now we know stats won't be reliable

[00:17:14] until maybe Thursday night

[00:17:16] if it comes on Friday,

[00:17:18] but he's going to be good.

[00:17:19] I mean, we've had flashback sort of players in the past

[00:17:22] where you look at the stats

[00:17:23] and you think, hmm, they're not great,

[00:17:25] but, you know,

[00:17:26] the mix of the stats with the traits

[00:17:28] and now we've got these roles,

[00:17:29] plus, you know,

[00:17:30] maybe their build,

[00:17:32] their own sort of physicality.

[00:17:33] I think Cruyff will be great.

[00:17:35] We were talking about this before.

[00:17:37] Was it last year

[00:17:38] or whenever we had the Zidane one?

[00:17:40] I mean, I would take Cruyff over Zidane

[00:17:41] in game any day.

[00:17:43] I struggle with Zidane.

[00:17:44] Cruyff's quite a me-type player.

[00:17:45] So I'm really excited.

[00:17:46] If he is still 5'5",

[00:17:48] I think that's a big win.

[00:17:50] If he plays Cam and Stryker,

[00:17:52] If he's got maybe Shadow Stryker for the Cam,

[00:18:11] I think it's been fairly okay priced,

[00:18:14] some of these SBCs recently.

[00:18:15] Some of them have been stupid as well.

[00:18:17] But if they get this right,

[00:18:19] it's a must complete for me in any way.

[00:18:22] Yeah, and why it's important to talk about the leak

[00:18:24] about Cruyff is because this kind of sums up

[00:18:25] what Black Friday is going to be.

[00:18:27] It's very much a cyclical arrangement for EA.

[00:18:30] They're going to want you to be engaged

[00:18:33] with the gameplay to get packs

[00:18:35] to do these SBCs and complete these challenges.

[00:18:37] But also, you know,

[00:18:39] they're going to want you to be tempted

[00:18:40] to go to the store

[00:18:42] to complete a Cruyff SBC,

[00:18:44] to complete whichever players flashbacks come out.

[00:18:47] As well, again,

[00:18:47] a top Premier League player

[00:18:48] is another one that's been leaked to come

[00:18:50] as an SBC in the past couple of hours

[00:18:52] as I look on my timeline.

[00:18:53] EA is going to do everything they can

[00:18:56] to get you to the store.

[00:18:58] Again, they'll put crazy store packs in.

[00:19:00] They will have lots of upgrade SBCs.

[00:19:02] And again,

[00:19:03] one of the things that almost gets people

[00:19:04] is that if they put things like last year,

[00:19:07] I think what was it?

[00:19:07] The 83 by 10

[00:19:08] was that repeatable three times.

[00:19:11] So again,

[00:19:12] you'll just be running through your fodder,

[00:19:13] running through your fodder,

[00:19:14] running through your fodder.

[00:19:15] And again,

[00:19:15] that temptation will be,
