[00:01:59] you will probably have not seen the fact that you will log in and get two shiny players.

[00:02:05] Basically, Team of the Year caliber players, Adam.

[00:02:08] Two, one of five player picks.

[00:02:10] One from the men's Ballon d'Or nominees and one from the women's Ballon d'Or nominees

[00:02:14] to use on a time-limited loan for five days.

[00:02:18] It's the only place you can get these cards.

[00:02:20] They are not in packs.

[00:02:21] They are not in SBCs.

[00:02:23] The only chance you will get and the only players you will see

[00:02:26] are these five each from the men's and women's team.

[00:02:29] Now that you've seen these players out in the wild, Adam,

[00:03:36] And I'm going to enjoy them for four days.

[00:03:51] And I took Hanson from the women.

[00:03:55] My reasoning being that they were two positions

[00:03:57] I could very easily swap players out from

[00:04:00] without noticing too much disruption to my team.

[00:04:03] Saliba will come in for Ivo Kanate

[00:04:05] and Hanson will come in for gold Chloe Kelly.

[00:04:09] So there's, there's not going to be much disruption to my team,

[00:04:12] but I'm like you, I'm going to hate facing them.

[00:04:14] And that's one of the reasons I took the defender.

[00:04:16] Cause I was like, I need something to stop.

[00:04:18] Mbappe finishes junior et al this weekend.

[00:04:22] So, so where do you fall on this side of things?

[00:04:25] Because part of me is like, I'm annoyed

[00:04:27] because EA have completely disrupted the power curve

[00:04:32] and given people sort of 15% of their team for free

[00:04:37] for absolutely nothing this entire weekend.

[00:04:39] But then the other part of me is like, oh, well it's, you know,

[00:04:42] it's fun, you know, getting to use different players

[00:04:44] and getting to use these absolute gold players.

[00:04:46] I mean, where do you kind of fall on it?

[00:04:49] Kind of in the middle.

[00:04:51] Like I said today on like a Twitter conversation

[00:04:53] or something that it was like the drug dealer

[00:04:56] giving you your first hit for free.

[00:04:58] And then, you know, you're going to be back in the store

[00:04:59] to try and get these guys and gals

[00:05:02] when the time balloons run out.

[00:05:04] But on the other hand,

[00:05:07] if they were promo players that you could only get in packs

[00:05:11] and we know the drop rates are minuscule,

[00:05:14] then everyone's going to be sitting complaining

[00:05:16] and being really sad that they're not going to get them.

[00:05:19] They're going to get an 84 rated left back

[00:05:22] that's got 26 pace.

[00:05:25] So I think it is sort of good

[00:05:27] that they've given us these elite cars

[00:05:29] and to have a chance using them,

[00:05:31] especially for like a full weekend league

[00:05:33] and rivals running all that and not like 10 games.

[00:05:35] But I also think there's FIFA points,

[00:05:42] motives behind it.

[00:05:43] And I don't know how everyone will feel after it

[00:05:49] when they're going back to,

[00:05:50] well, I'll be going back to Ivo Doku

[00:05:54] and Marcus Turan when Mbappé in parallel will go away,

[00:05:58] which will be quite the come down, I think.

[00:06:01] Are you possibly suggesting EA have got an ulterior motive with this?

[00:06:22] was basically saying that the frustrating thing

[00:06:24] from their experience, having used these cards is

[00:06:26] these cards are apparently really responsive

[00:06:29] and you've got more,

[00:06:30] because I actually haven't been able to play a game.

[00:06:32] I've been looking after my youngest daughter

[00:06:34] and I've been off at a fireworks display,

[00:06:35] which is why we're recording this so late at night on a Friday.

[00:06:39] So I've not played with them,

[00:06:40] but this guy was saying that, you know,

[00:06:43] the frustrating thing for him is that

[00:06:44] using these players show you what this game could be

[00:06:48] because they are really responsive.

[00:06:50] There's no delay.

[00:06:51] They are just there.

[00:06:53] And, you know, it's great seeing the potential of this game.

[00:06:57] But like you said, it's then very frustrating

[00:06:58] knowing you've got to go back out the other side.

[00:07:02] Yeah.

[00:07:03] Yeah.

[00:07:03] To own cards at this level at this point in the game,

[00:07:06] you either have to be one in a million

[00:07:08] or extremely rich on the game.

[00:07:15] This Mbappe would be, I don't know,

[00:07:17] eight, nine, ten million coins if he was on the market.

[00:07:22] And I don't know how much the parallel in Et al would be,

[00:07:26] but they'd be so expensive.

[00:07:28] But they have been a joy to play with.

[00:07:31] Like, I managed to just dance around the keeper

[00:07:33] one game with Mbappe and rivals.

[00:07:36] Guy switches his, sorry, weekend league qualification.

[00:07:42] When I've tried to do that with anyone else on my team,

[00:07:54] And it's just like no responsiveness,

[00:07:57] which has been my sort of main frustration of the game.

[00:08:00] After a sort of positive start,

[00:08:02] I've struggled with it a little bit.

[00:08:05] But yeah, they've given us the goods

[00:08:07] and then they're going to take them away from us

[00:08:09] for quite some time, I think.

[00:08:11] Yeah, I mean, we're looking at you.

[00:08:12] And again, this is brand new.

[00:08:14] So they could always spring something on us in December.

[00:08:17] Like, it could be a team of the year nominees thing

[00:08:20] where you get a similar for the main team comes out.

[00:08:23] But yeah, otherwise it is going to be at least January

[00:08:26] until you get the chance to use any of these players.

[00:08:28] I think a couple of little things about it.

[00:08:30] I would have actually preferred

[00:08:31] if they'd given everybody the same choice.

[00:08:34] I think if they'd limited it just to five nominees of each,

[00:08:37] because again, I didn't see Mbappe.

[00:08:40] I probably wouldn't have taken him.

[00:08:42] It would have been nice to have had that option.

[00:08:45] Or, you know, to have had...

[00:08:46] Like Harland, I would have been quite interested to try out.

[00:08:50] But as it turns out, that wasn't one of my options.

[00:08:52] So I just think maybe a bit of standardisation there

[00:08:54] I think would have been quite helpful.

[00:08:57] But otherwise, we'll see how it pans out.

[00:09:00] I'm sure there will be a point in this weekend league

[00:09:02] and if I end up playing some rivals games

[00:09:04] at the start of next week where I'm like,

[00:09:11] and then I'll be absolutely cursing EA's name

[00:09:21] It's like, why did you have to give him to...

[00:09:29] So, yeah, look, we'll see how the Ballon d'Or thing pans out.

[00:09:33] But we have had a regular promo team out as well, Adam.

[00:09:37] And again, a promo, this is a promo we have seen before.

[00:09:40] Centurions is back.

[00:09:41] It's along with the theme of 100 of something.

[00:09:44] Although I'm not quite sure what the significance

[00:09:46] for a lot of these players are.

[00:09:49] Whether they've flitted 100 of whatever or not.

[00:09:52] They just seem to just be a random promo team dumped in.

[00:09:55] But I mean, what do you make of the team that's come out?

[00:09:58] Yeah, I think there's some quite interesting players.

[00:10:00] I'm just having a look at it just now.

[00:10:05] Looking at just the sort of non-icon players.

[00:10:09] I quite like the look of Bruno Fernandes.

[00:10:12] He's got a star weak foot boost.

[00:10:15] So I think he could be quite fun.

[00:10:18] Although he is quite expensive, I've just seen the price.

[00:10:22] And I think Ferran Torres looks quite decent as well.

[00:10:26] So sort of low-ish stats, kind of for dribbling and pace.

[00:10:30] But he looks quite fun.

[00:10:31] I'm in the market for a left mid.

[00:10:33] So I think that's why I'm looking there.

[00:10:36] But yeah, there's quite a lot of players that have actually got the Ballon d'Or card.

[00:10:40] And the Centurions card, which is interesting.

[00:10:46] But yeah, looks not too bad.

[00:10:48] I feel because they've added the icons to it, it adds an extra layer of excitement that I think all the previous promos have really missed this year.

[00:10:55] Yeah, and especially when you go to get your weekend league rewards or your rivals' rewards, knowing that these players are packable.

[00:11:01] Because again, promo icons, for those of you who may be new to the game, promo icons are considered in the same vein as gold cards.

[00:11:08] So they will appear from these 75 by 45 packs, whereas icons just generally don't, the base icons aren't in those packs.

[00:11:18] So these are, and you see the prices already, Adam, of some of these icons already.

[00:11:25] You know, we've got Rudvan Nistelroys, we record this.

[00:11:27] He's down at 230k.

[00:11:28] Crespo's at 350k.

[00:11:30] Loudrop's at 270k.

[00:11:32] Even Solkambu, who I think is a brilliant-looking card, that's available for 440 on console as well.

[00:11:38] And then, yeah, you've got the big boys that you'll just never see.

[00:11:41] I don't care how available they are.

[00:11:43] You're never going to see Ribery.

[00:11:45] He's 3 million coins.

[00:11:47] And you've got a very small chance of seeing Beckham at one and a half.

[00:11:52] Evander Saar's at nearly a million.

[00:11:54] Fowdy, who's one of the new icons this year, she's got her first promo card.

[00:11:58] That's over a million coins as well.

[00:12:00] Schweinsteiger, close to a million.

[00:12:02] So some nice pickups there.

[00:12:04] And in the main team, if you're talking about kind of value and where it comes from,

[00:12:09] I really like the look of Christine Sinclair.

[00:12:11] I can't, I both can and can't understand why this card is so cheap.

[00:12:16] So at the time we record this, she's 145,000 coins.

[00:12:19] Four-star skill moves, five-star weak foot.

[00:12:22] 91 shooting, 88 passing, 87 dribbling, 88 physicality.

[00:12:27] She's got power shot plus.

[00:12:28] She's also got normal finesse shot and power header.

[00:12:31] She's got incisive pass.

[00:12:33] She's got press proven and technical.

[00:12:34] And she's got Trevella.

[00:12:36] An absolutely fantastic forward.

[00:12:38] The only thing that really holds this card back, Adam, is A, okay, NWSL plus Canada,

[00:12:45] not the best links, and 82 pace.

[00:12:48] But you take away anything from that.

[00:12:51] If you're looking for just someone that is going to bury chances for you,

[00:12:54] this card is fantastic value.

[00:12:58] Yeah, she looks class.

[00:13:00] I think she'd be a good cam, actually.

[00:13:01] I've just seen that she's got the cam thing on her card,

[00:13:05] although she does have a plus-plus roll at striker,

[00:13:08] so maybe that's where you'd want to use her.

[00:13:10] But, yeah, I think if you fired an engine on her,

[00:13:13] that would make her a pretty handy player.

[00:13:18] And so many people have got the Rodman and Morgan cards,

[00:13:24] and then I think there's another one that was quite good.

[00:13:26] Crystal Dan, Swanson.

[00:13:27] Yeah, you could get a pretty solid NWSL team in the go.

[00:13:32] And then there's also the...

[00:13:34] Well, I suppose the heroes won't actually work because they're MLS.

[00:13:39] But, yeah, I think you could put together a serious team with them.

[00:13:42] I've played against a few people,

[00:13:44] and when they know how to use the small female players for the pace,

[00:13:49] it's not good to play against sometimes.

[00:13:51] Yeah, look, 93 composure, 95 shot power, 90 finishing,

[00:13:56] 93 attack positioning, and also throwing 97 strength as well.

[00:14:00] Again, get the ball to this card.

[00:14:04] She will finish it.

[00:14:05] Only 5-9, but target forward plus plus, force 9 plus,

[00:14:10] and advance forward plus.

[00:14:11] And as Adam mentioned as well, she can also play CM and Cam.

[00:14:14] She's got half winger plus on both those.

[00:14:17] So that's my kind of budget pick from this.

[00:14:20] But, again, Adam, I think this reminds me of just a lot of promos

[00:14:24] that we've seen this year,

[00:14:25] and that there is very little in that kind of mid-tier.

[00:14:30] It always just seems to be very accessible fodder cards that are under 30k

[00:14:35] or very expensive cards.

[00:14:38] You like some Raffa Liao, Martinez, Son, Hanson, Bruno, Rodri, Modric,

[00:14:44] that you're just not going to see.

[00:14:46] Yeah, and the other problem with them is as well that I feel like maybe it's just Malak.

[00:14:52] But if you decide to buy your Bruno Fernandes at nearly 700,000 coins

[00:14:56] or Martinez at 635,

[00:15:00] as soon as you buy them, you just know you're going to get a 100k haircut

[00:15:04] just because you bought them.

[00:15:07] So I think the sort of market always going down when you buy these players,

[00:15:10] it puts you off.

[00:15:13] And, yeah, like you say, there's not much in the middle

[00:15:16] that's about 200,000 coins that appeals to you.

[00:15:22] So it's just like there's nothing,

[00:15:25] and then you get to the ceiling, but the ceiling's too far away.

[00:15:29] Yeah.

[00:15:29] What I would always say with these promo teams, though,

[00:15:32] is, again, pick up some of these.

[00:15:34] If you've got a few hundred thousand coins

[00:15:36] and you're not really spending it,

[00:15:38] go and pick up these cards that are close to discard

[00:15:40] because the likes of Bard,

[00:15:42] you know, he's an 84 rated left back from Ligon at the moment.

[00:15:47] He's absolutely rife.

[00:15:49] A lot of these cards are so rife for Evos down the line.

[00:15:52] And at worst comes to it,

[00:15:54] you stick 11k on buying Bard

[00:15:57] and he doesn't get an Evo

[00:15:59] and then you just discard him and get your 11k back.

[00:16:02] So I would do that.

[00:16:04] But, yeah, otherwise I'm just kind of looking through it.

[00:16:07] And it's quite a big team as well, Adam, isn't it?

[00:16:10] I mean, it's got sort of what, 11 plus 6,

[00:16:14] so 7, I can't even do maths, 23.

[00:16:17] It's got 25 players in this promo team.

[00:16:20] So they've gone all out on it.

[00:16:22] Yeah, it definitely feels like they've tried to step it up a little bit this week.

[00:16:28] I've sort of felt myself that I've not really been too interested in what comes out.

[00:16:35] I've only got one promo card in my team,

[00:16:39] aside from the two Ballon d'Or players just now.

[00:16:43] They'll be leaving my team.

[00:16:44] The only promo player I've got in my team is Trent.

[00:16:48] What was he?

[00:16:51] Total Rush.

[00:16:52] Yeah, Total Rush.

[00:16:53] Looking at it, I can't, I didn't see it.

[00:16:55] And he's been really good,

[00:16:57] but he's the only promo player I've got in my team.

[00:17:01] I think, no, it's just not hitting the mark.

[00:17:04] Just now with the promos,

[00:17:05] it feels like,

[00:17:07] it just feels like they're all a bit samey.

[00:17:10] Yeah, I think we were in this kind of situation,

[00:17:13] I believe, last year

[00:17:14] with the packweight on these special cards

[00:17:16] just being so poor.

[00:17:18] And then Thunderstruck came along.

[00:17:21] Around about, because it was around Black Friday, wasn't it?

[00:17:23] So around this time of year,

[00:17:25] and then the packweight just seemed to miraculously go up

[00:17:28] and everyone was really enjoying that promo.

[00:17:30] And I just wonder if the same thing

[00:17:31] is going to happen again this year.

[00:17:33] I mean, I'm still at the point

[00:17:34] where I've not been able to see many people opening packs,

[00:17:36] so I don't know what the weight is.

[00:17:38] But just looking at the prices, again, of that team

[00:17:41] and the bulk of players that we have in packs,

[00:17:44] I'm a little bit more optimistic.

[00:17:47] Because it's nice just hitting these promo players,

[00:17:49] even if they are just discard,

[00:17:51] it's still nice seeing different flares.

[00:17:53] So that remains to be seen.

[00:17:54] But if you do want a guaranteed Centurions player item,

[00:17:57] you can go out and do the SBC.

[00:17:59] And I imagine this one's going to be quite popular.

[00:18:01] One certain Darwin Nunes has an SBC out.

[00:18:06] Yeah, I actually quite fancy him from my team

[00:18:09] because I've got a few other pool players.

[00:18:11] But yeah, he looks really good.

[00:18:13] I think he's had at least a star boost

[00:18:15] on either weak foot or skill moves.

[00:18:17] I think it's skill moves.

[00:18:20] But yeah, he's got great stats.

[00:18:22] He's really fast, really strong.

[00:18:24] His dribbling looks a little bit heavy

[00:18:26] with 80 agility and 72 balance.

[00:18:29] And only 82 composure.

[00:18:30] But I think if you stick an engine on him,

[00:18:33] he could be a great striker.

[00:18:35] And he's also got target forward plus plus,

[00:18:38] which I don't think I've tried any of the target forward rules yet.

[00:18:43] So he could bring something different to teams.

[00:18:46] Yeah, I had the pre-order hero I got was Sasich.

[00:18:50] And she had target forward plus plus.

[00:18:52] And I found that quite useful.

[00:18:55] But yeah, I mean, this card, as you mentioned,

[00:18:56] he's got a boost in both skill move and weak foot.

[00:18:59] So he's 4-4 here.

[00:19:00] Only 87 rated as well.

[00:19:02] So we won't be too far along for evos down the line.

[00:19:06] Good pace.

[00:19:08] The shooting is there.

[00:19:09] I don't love 82 composure.

[00:19:12] Again, especially if you're spending close to 300,000 coins on a striker

[00:19:16] or 300,000 worth of fodder.

[00:19:19] I kind of like, again,

[00:19:21] I compared this card to that Christine Sinclair card.

[00:19:24] And actually,

[00:19:26] if I'm just looking at someone that's going to bury chances for me,

[00:19:30] I'm taking that Sinclair card all day.

[00:19:33] Yeah, I can see why he does.

[00:19:36] Sorry, Christine Sinclair does have a more rounded card.

[00:19:40] But I guess you're paying for a popular player in the popular league

[00:19:45] with not the best nation,

[00:19:47] but he does have a link to Valverde,

[00:19:50] who's another popular player.

[00:19:51] So he does have sort of cross-league linkability.

[00:19:57] This card just reminds me of,

[00:19:59] I suppose it's a compliment in a way,

[00:20:00] it reminds me of Nunes in real life

[00:20:01] because he's got that quick step play style plus.

[00:20:04] He's got like the pace is there,

[00:20:05] the power is there,

[00:20:06] but then the finishing and the tools to actually score goals

[00:20:09] is really what's missing on the card.

[00:20:12] I mean, look at play styles.

[00:20:13] He's got power shot basic and that's it in the shooting.

[00:20:16] So you've got no finesse,

[00:20:17] no chip shot,

[00:20:19] no power header.

[00:20:20] Again, no passing play styles.

[00:20:23] He has got bruiser,

[00:20:24] acrobatic, relentless as well,

[00:20:26] and rapid.

[00:20:27] So yeah,

[00:20:27] he's definitely going to get into the right positions.

[00:20:29] I just,

[00:20:30] I'm not backing this card

[00:20:32] to finish that one,

[00:20:34] you know,

[00:20:35] half chance.

[00:20:37] Yeah,

[00:20:38] I do agree.

[00:20:39] The thing as well,

[00:20:40] I've noticed,

[00:20:41] I don't like strikers with poor passing.

[00:20:44] I find they sort of,

[00:20:46] when you need to play a pass for your striker

[00:20:48] and they've got really low passing

[00:20:49] or quite low passing,

[00:20:50] it just,

[00:20:51] it kills what would be a good attack

[00:20:53] if their passing was 5-10.

[00:20:55] 5-10 stats better.

[00:20:56] And I think he might be in the cusp

[00:20:58] of one of those players

[00:20:59] that kind of let you down

[00:20:59] when a final pass is needed.

[00:21:02] But again,

[00:21:03] I'm kind of tempted to do them,

[00:21:05] mostly because I've not done any big SBCs yet

[00:21:08] this year really,

[00:21:08] and I've got lots of fodder.

[00:21:09] But it might be one that you hold out on

[00:21:12] until the last day.

[00:21:16] So you've got time to make your mind up
