The end of April, bring an exciting time to the Fifa 23 cycle as we now enter the season of ToTS. If you’ve battled, won, cried your way through months of promos and cups, this is the promo for you.
What is Team of The Season?
We’re getting new top-tier cards every week for the next 6 weeks! ToTS covers the top 5 leagues from across Europe with supporting acts from ‘minor’ leagues, such as the Eredivse and Saudi League. With different leagues being released every week, this is a big step up in the power curve. Leading into ToTS there is a lot of panic on the market as players fear once high-powered and meta cards will no longer compete with ToTS or newer version of the same card enter the game which better stats. As we see every year, once ToTS starts, those cards that are rare, meta and sought-after rebound and profits (timed well) are made.
Community ToTS – Squad
This year we’ve seen strong upgrades to cards and some big names / clubs. You’ve got the high-end and meta options like Gabriel Jesus, Sanchez and Rodrygo. These cards look amazing and the upgrades from previous special cards are decent. Middle of the road cards such as Ake, Thuram and Coman are still very useable and coming in for around a few hundred thousand coins. Finally, there’s a section of low-tier (Fodder) cards; Morata, Rice, Tavernier, De Gea and Kim Min Jae.
Eredivse ToTS – Squad
Eredivse is always a popular minor league in ToTS, Dutch nationality is very linkable and often this team produces some cheap beasts. This squad is no different from previous ones, with lots of mentions of Ajax with a sprinkle of Feyenoord and PSV. Arguably the most lucrative card in this team is 93 Xavi Simons, who has had a huge upgrade over his Player of the Month card. Notable mentions in this squad include Geertruida (CB), Tadic (CF) and Bergwijn (LW). All rated 91 + and coming in around or under one hundred thousand coins. Very linkable if you have a Dutch Icon or manager and a Dutch player or two – Virgil Van Dijk comes to my mind. We’ve had an Xp objective SBC dropped in the game which has impacted the prices of these Dutch cards and so they’re incredible value. Worth picking up and trying in your squads.
Fut Champions (Weekend League)
With ToTS starting, the rewards in FUT Champions ‘Champs’ are changed. For Red picks we now have ToTS rewards, starting from rank 7 with 2 player picks for 1 of 4 Comm/Eredivse ToTS Max 90. The further you go in Champs, the better the rewards. For 14 wins (Rank 4) you get a ToTS pack (untradeable) and for 16 wins that pack becomes tradeable. It means there’s lots of incentive to get playing champs this weekend and with the delayed start and finish times, start time is 2 hours after content on Friday and finishes 48 hours later, on Wednesday. It means if you want to give yourself the best opportunity to pack and get ToTS players in your squad, this is the way to do it.
Final thoughts and reflections
This feels a very strong squad and new content from EA, so there’s lots of gameplay and menu grinding to be done. I’m also mindful that this is just the start and next week, we get our first league ToTS in Premier League Team of The Season. See you there.
